    Default On Bedrest...

Well, today I was put on bedrest. I've been having a ton of what I thought were Braxton Hicks contractions. At my last appointment 2 weeks ago doc said if they stop when I sit down and my cervix is fine, no worries. Well, I've been having so many the last few days (every few minutes when I stand up), that I went in to get checked today. Sure enough I'm about 50% effaced and my cervix is soft. Doc did the FFN test (will get the results tomorrow) and told me to sit or lay down and only get up to shower/go to the bathroom/grab a quick bite to eat. That is easily said with a 2 year old around!!! We have family in town for the next 2 weeks but after that I am not sure what we will do... it's going to be difficult. But I am determined to keep LO baking as long as possible and after a day of mostly sitting already noticed way less contractions - in fact, I had only a handful today.

I'm feeling a little sad because my 2-year old just doesn't understand why mommy can't play as usual with him. I'm trying to do lots of books/legos/etc that I can do sitting, but of course he wants me to pick him up. Ugh. I was so hoping to avoid this.

So sorry you're on bedrest hun! It's terrible and boring and so hard when you can't do your normal things with your small guy.
I hope that baby stays in and things get better enough that you can be up and around sometime soon!

    Good luck!

Sorry this is happening Being on bedrest sounds challenging and I bet more so with a toddler around. Glad the rest is minimizing your contractions though.

Good and bad news I guess: The FFN test was positive, meaning there is an elevated chance I will go into labour within the next 2 weeks. But my ultrasound showed my cervix was actually 4 cm long!! That's a great number so I am not sure what to make of it. The doctor said for now continue the bedrest until my next appointment on Dec 30, then we will repeat the test and go from there. So this makes me feel a little better/worse LOL. I can really tell that the contractions are easing off though, so that's good!

Sorry about the FFN results. Hopefully, baby will stay inside longer. Hope you are surviving bedrest too.

Bed rest sucks! I did a month my with my first baby due to pre-pre-eclampsia. I can't imagine doing it now with a 2 y.o.! Sorry the test was positive. Hopefully it was just a fluke or something since your cervix is good via u/s. When I was pg with my 5th I had pre-term ctx due to an in diagnosed UTI I had for a good week or so. I had tons of ctx (painful ctx) but thankfully the FFN stayed negative and my cervix though it softened some stayed long and mostly closed. Best of luck baking that baby til 36 wks at least!

    Still pregnant!

I am on modified bed rest, meaning I can care for our toddler and walk around some, but not go out shopping or for a walk. Even just chasing after my toddler or making dinner often gets the contractions going but they always slow down when I sit down. At least I made it to 30 weeks so far, meaning that the NICU at our hospital will take the baby barring any other health concerns. It's a smaller town and only one hospital, so the closest NICU before 30 weeks would have been 4 hrs away! The thought of having to go there scared the bejeezus out of me. I fully intend to keep this LO baking though till at least 36 weeks, better yet 37... I have another appointment in 10 days and will get the doc to check my cervix to see what's happening.
