appt. this morning

So I went in feeling like I was determined to leave feeling more comfortable about what was going on. I feel like I got that, even though it wasn't my first choice of the action to take.

I do want to preface this with letting everyone know that I wasn't looking for delivery simply because I feel 'done' with being pregnant....I am looking for a more calm, safe birth where everyone is healthy, happy and confident. To me when I see a spiral of events unfolding, I prefer to take care of things while they are still good, not when an emergency arises, especially when I have experience in the later.

So basically went in, BP was a little high, but nothing crazy. I did have protein (+1) in my urine this time. When I went in with the doc the hb and belly measure must have been fine bc he didn't say anything about it. I told him that I wanted to discuss what the risks of waiting were and why he felt confident in taking them. He said that it is his practice to not take a baby before 39 wks unless the fluid is 5 or below. He said he promised to monitor it with the fluid chk once a week, a bpp with it, and an nst after. If it started to decrease it would be more frequent then once a wk until it dropped to 5 or below (or close enough to it). In terms of the protein/nausea/high bp he wants to do another 24hr urine catch, blood protein level, and the usual pre-e blood workup. I inquired why he felt it important to go against my high risk docs recommendation for delivery and he said that somehow there was a misunderstanding of my water being ruptured? That in his report to my reg. ob he said water had ruptured and fluid was low. I'm not really sure how that happened as it wasn't discussed with my high risk doc and so my ob was going with it bc he was thinking there was no other option. My doc apologized for the mix up and getting myself and my family all worked up and scared. He said he would do everything to keep baby in until the scheduled date so things were calmer, but I just had to deal with the fact that emergencies happen and it could happen again.

He also scheduled my c-sec for Wed. the 24th (this is his OR day for scheduled surgeries) if everything stays copestetic until then. So unless something goes wrong with fluid, baby, me, or I go into labor, this will be my day.

Overall I feel better now. I'm just so damn paranoid about everything mounting up and not feeling in control of things. One thing I have decided to do is before every appt. with my doc and at the hospital each week I'm going to shower and pack all my last minute things in with the bag that's already packed. At least then if they tell me I'm staying its just a matter of DH grabbing the stuff and heading over, not me giving him a list of things to add and stressing us both out more. We have also worked out a plan with family that makes me more comfortable.

If you made it through, thanks for listening and supporting me Smile I'm beginning to feel like I'm going crazy and the worry had taken over my life.

Well Im glad he explained his views and reasoning behind the past few days/weeks.. Thats weird about the water broke mix-up. Just blew my mind the high risk bumped other surgeries and had everything ready so fast, I thought he was super concerned which in turn made no sence when your OB stopped it.. Now it kinda makes some sence.

I hope things die down for you for the next couple of weeks BB and that you can enjoy your last weeks of this pregnancy.. I know you are worried and I hope you find comfort these last few weeks in that your delivery is gonna be AWESOME!! Smile

HUGS

I totally understand how you feel about wanting the c/section to be planned and before it turns into a real emergency. I feel the same way, which is one of the many reasons I am choosing to schedule a repeat c/section.

I really hope that nothing turns into a real emergency situation and that you have a much better experience this time around. I am really sorry you have had such a rollar coaster! I can't wait to hear an update on your fluid levels on Monday!

Glad to hear he was able to explain things to you and give you some insight into the plan...and as we know plans are meant to be broken! It is tough when you have more than one doctor involved! I hope Miss Emily gets comfy for a few more weeks and you get a break from the stress!

So glad that they explained things better this time. I hope they do monitor you very well so it doesn't turn into an emergency situation. Get some rest!

Considering how anxious you've been, I'm not surprised your bp was a little high at the appointment.. I'd consider it a great sign that it wasn't any higher!

Sounds like you're in good hands and they're going to be monitoring you very closely now - it should mean that there aren't any crazy surprises. Also, you're more experienced this time around and will likely know/feel when something isn't right. AND, you can now deliver at your closer hospital.. so all those things are GREAT!

I like all your plans with mobilizing DH, family, packing etc - definitely should help you feel more in control of any situation that may arise.

And you know what? You could very easily sail into a boring and routine last 2 weeks of your pregancy and have absolutely nothing to worry about!

So try not to worry too much, kay? Wink :bighug:

HUGS Anne! I'm so glad that your doc was able to explain to you why he changed his mind after all that they put you and your family thru. It makes way more sense now why he want against what the high risk doc said. Great idea about getting your stuff ready to make things a little less stressful if they do decide to do your cs after an appointment!

Take it easy and try to "enjoy" these last few days/weeks pregnant! HUGS again!

Sorry you've had an emotional up and down lately. That's tough to deal with, especially considering your past emergency c-section. I think that in this case your OB sounds like he has very good reasons for his decision, and that they make great sense. There have been more and more early c-sections (or c-sections at all for that matter), and many of them aren't necessary. I am glad that your doctor is confident that baby can bake safely for another couple weeks.

I understand your frustration and worry. I also think that it is very possible that baby could come on his own, and full term would be the best option for everyone involved. Having had two babies born at 37 weeks, and one at 40 weeks, I can assure you (not that yo udon't already know) that the difference in baby's feeding schedule, complete 24hr attention, etc... is HUGE with those 3 weeks. Keep baby baking as much as possible to avoid other complications.

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

Im actually feeling ok today Smile LOTS of contractions but I haven't sat to time them because they don't hurt terribly. I actually took a shower, put REAL clothes on, makeup, and kinda did my hair so that always helps your mood I think Smile

Thanks for thinking of me!

I really hope your feeling great. From the looks of your facebook pics you LOOK fabulous. I would just stay pregnant. lol jk jk

I'm so glad your doctor addressed all your questions. It all makes sense and is comforting after your scare. You are so strong for all you've dealt with. Hang in there momma! :bighug:

Annie, I have been following your saga, but I haven't been able to reply because of computer problems. (I am at my mom's house right now). I am sorry for all of the problems that you've been having throughout the last trimester. No wonder your bp is high! I am glad that the doc is monitoring you and Baby Emily closely. If you don't hear from me, please know that I am wishing you well from afar. I can't wait to meet Gracie's little sister. Blum 3

Hooray! So happy that baby is healthy, and there's lot of fluid... what a load off mama's mind!!!

Now ENJOY these last couple of weeks - they'll be over before you know it, and you'll be missing that big ol' pregnant belly one day (I know, hard to believe.. but I'd LOVE to feel my 37 week belly just for a day now). Have fun!
