I recently learned that when curling your eyelashes, start at the tip hold for a few seconds, then go about to the middle and hold, then all the way to the bottom and hold. Helps your lashes curl better Smile

Beauty tips.. hmmm... let's see...

*shower daily, if possible
*comb hair between washings, all other times use a ponytail
*mow down leg hair at least once every two weeks in summer
*change toenail polish when more than 25% has been chipped off
*grey hair - pluck pluck pluck... if starting to look like a Thanksgiving turkey, however, it may be time to consider highlights

Wink

My only rule is that I have to wear mascara every day to avoid looking like a ghoul - I'm really falling behind in my beauty practices these days. lol

Kirsten-- you and I have the same regimen! Even down to the mascara every day-- my eyelashes are so fair that I'm freaky sans mascara. Smile

Luckily I live in a Mennonite farming community. Kirsten and I have similar routines. I NEVER wear make-up, though I did briefly when I worked in Toronto. That was decades ago. I do see benefits to a good haircut, and because I have foot problems, a pedicure every now and then helps.

I think inner beauty is just fine. If you feel good about yourself and your family, then your eyes sparkle and you get smile lines instead of worry lines as you age. Biggrin

Sarah’s beauty tips:

1) Don’t shower every day. My hair looks better the day after I shower!
2) Don’t use soap on your face. It dries it out. Just use water.
3) Be happy! Relax! Smile!
4) Get enough sleep (if possible)
5) Get some exercise (at least 3 times a week if you have time)
6) Switch shampoos and conditioner periodically
7) Grey hair is cool! It contrasts nicely with my very dark brown!
8 ) Try to wear clothes that aren’t from the laundry pile and don’t have too many wrinkles I them.
9) Don’t smoke. It’s gross.
10) Take some time to yourself to relax and do something you enjoy.

Oh make-up? I wouldn't know how to put it on!

Good one!! I always have issues with my eyelashes curling. But recently discovered an AWESOME mascara from Avon that makes them plump and curl. LOVE!

I'm in Kirsten's camp. I don't even own any make-up. I shower every other day.

I try to get a pedi every few months. I'm sooo not a girly girl Smile

I am so not the one to be asking for beauty tips. I could use some though!

I'll have to give this one a try. I always do it just the opposite, the bottom first, then the middle then the tips.

Those are GREAT!!!!!

I don't really have any good ones to add. If I think of some I will add them.

You know what, other than in junior high, I don't think I've EVER SINCE curled my eyelashes! So many of you do it or have tips for it, makes me think maybe I've been missing out on something important! Wink Maybe I should give it a try... hmmm... but I remember in junior high I hated the feeling that my upper eyelid was lifting off my eyeball like something in a horror film.... are they still the same basic apparatus?

I need to start doing this again, I did it forever ago and you're right - they DO stay curled!

Kirsten - I only curl mine b/c if not, they are in my eyes and are annoying. If I could get away with wearing NO mascara I totally would, but if I do...I look sick!

eye lashes I never wear mascara unless we are going some where special or going out.

My question is......

What kind of moisturizer does everyone use?

I've used nice stuff in the past, Clinique etc, but as of the past few years I've switched back to el cheapo. Nivea night and day is what I currently have, usually I just buy whatever happens to be on sale at the drugstore. I haven't noticed a big difference in my skin, so what the heck? Wink I also use a nice almond oil on my body after showering, which I put a little on my face after my moisturizer too.

I use classic Oil of Olay, but only in the winter when the dry air gets to my face.

My hands are really my problem though, I have some nice Aveeno Intensive Hand Therapy lotion for them that I really like. It was tough to find something that doesn't make what my dr. calls dermatitis(I think it's something else) worse.

For moisturizer I use Mary Kay. I use all Mary Kay products for my face and makeup. They are a bit pricey, but my sister sellls it so I get it as cost... 50% off!

I used to have to curl my eyelashes when I wore glasses, and I was only in gradeschool. If I didn't, they would hit the lens and give me a headache! Since I stopped needed glass, I stopped curling them. But this thread has got me thinking about doing it again. I am SOOOO pale that a few months ago I started wearing mascara to keep me from scratching my eyes due to allergies, and DH actually said "You look funny with mascara on. You are too white to wear it" Thanks DH!

I just use regular lotion as my moisturizer! lol UNLESS I'm going to be out in the sun alot that day, then I use the regular Oil of Olay with spf in it.

Oh I have a shaving tip for the girls that shave their bikini area, wait til the end of the shower to shave and use a deep conditioner as a shaving cream. Less bumps!

Drink your 64 oz of water EVERY DAY! Seriously. It will do wonders for your skin.
