Birthday Parties

So I know we still have 4+ months until our LOs turn 3 (sniff sniff), but Rebecca posted on FB yesterday how she was planning sweet little K's birthday. Which got me thinking. What "theme" are you all doing this year? As of right now I have NO idea. I was thinking maybe a "Camping" theme because the girls are getting hiking boots and fishing rods, but other than that I have no ideas. When I asked them what theme they want Brooke said "Apple" and Addison said "Banana". Man these girls really do love fruit! Then Addison told me a cake theme! I told her not to worry, there would for sure be cake their! Smart girl worrying about the goodies already!

I love how great ya'll are at planning the birthdays.....wow!

We never do anything "big" for the kids' birthdays. This year (same as the last 2 years....) we plan to be in Florida for Lexi's birthday. It is the last week I'll be able to fly (since I'll be 35 weeks preggo!) but we are going to take the whole fam south for a last hurrah before baby #5 arrives in mid-June.

So no big plans. I'll bake her a cake when we get there and we'll celebrate in the Gulf of Mexico with sand and hopefully sun. Wink

That sounds nice Audra! I kind of wish I could just do a cake/ice cream the day of, like we had growing up. But since all of the family travels and usually stays at our place I have to feed them all anyway, so why not do a "theme"! And well, I like to plan parties!!!

Ev is so into horses and farm animals, I would love to do a farm themed party. I have been browsing websites to find out how much pony rentals are...expensive! On average it's about $200/hr! There is a place that also has a traveling petting zoo, not sure DH would go for that on our new grass though!

Right now I am planning M2's first birthday for 3 weeks from now. After that I'll start to think about M's. :bigwink:

Also - I was not able to log in to p.org for 5 days+. Plan to catch up around here today. Didn't want you guys to think I forgot about you.

Honestly, I haven't thought about it too much. He's still VERY much into Dora and Diego (over a year of Dora, Dora, Dora the explorer............UGHHH) but I refuse to have another Dora/Diego party! LOL I'm thinking we will find a fun place to have it at instead of our house. The easier the better!

WHAT? M2 is going to be a year old already? How did that happen?

Oh a petting zoo or pony would be so fun! Too bad it's pricey.

I've already booked the inflatable party place and ordered her cake; but ONLY because last year I missed out and called to late, and was unable to get anything decent. Kaylin has recently been addicted to Curious George (it is kind of cute I suppose!). So we've decided to do a Curious George party! Should be fun. We were going to have it at our new house but then I realized I would only be 4 weeks away from my due date and I really don't want to mess with cleaning/decorating and having a ton of people over. We do parties in lieu of gifts, she gets so many presents from everyone else that we just want her to have a fun party!

We do the same Rebecca, we spend so much on the party and they get so much from friends and family that we don't get the kids gifts.

It's really nuts what a party can cost. And I'll be honest, I never had big birthday parties growing up...so I just want Kaylin to have the best time. And selfishly, I don't want one at my house b/c I'm anal about cleaning and I would rather not deep clean at 36 weeks pregnant Smile Ha!

Rebecca, the girls are into Curious George too! We got them some books for Christmas and I read them like 100 times a day! That and this REALLY long one that DH's aunt got of Beauty and the Beast. DH isn't alound to read that one because he does the Beast's voice too scary for Addison. Thanks DH, make me read it. It takes like 25 minutes to read, and Brooke insists on reading it multiple times a day.

No idea what we will do with Ivy, but she told her Uncle that she wanted a horse for Christmas. He has 10 horses, so maybe we’ll go to his place for Easter weekend (a month early), and she can sit on a horse with someone if the weather permits. I think it would be great for her, and that since DSS’s birthday is near then, and my BIL has 3 daughters (older) it makes quite a party despite the fact it’s “just family” (as DSS puts it).

Personally, had I had that many people and a cake, I would have been thrilled most years growing up! Family and a special place to go make it fun, and it’s a free petting zoo!

(And no, I’m not going to even take one of his horses even if he gives I to me. He’s threatened to give me one many times, and he will take care of it – as long as I pay for food and vet bills. Oy!)

I think I have decided on a Woodland Animal theme. They LOVE animals and we live in the woods so we are always seeing all of the woodland animals (squirels, rabbits, racoons, chipmunks, foxes, porcupines, etc...) I found a REALLY cute stool to make. The website I saw made one for each kid at the party, but I may just stick with making two for them to sit on while they open gifts. We'll see, I may make all of the kids one. It's just a "family" party, but like Sarah said, that's a lot!

We take it easy with Grady at the moment, which is okay by me, as we always have a big-ticket party for the older kids. We have no family around, so just our family plus our friends here that have a little guy Grady's age. Probably just have an inside party plus cake and presents, as it'll be fall here.

Wow Tara, I can't believe you'd even CONTEMPLATE making a stool for every kid at the party. makes me realize how truly un-crafty I am! Lol

I think I have decided on doing a Superhero party for Mason. I have found so many fun things on Pinterest for it. I need to decide early for sure because I am going to make capes for all the kids.
