I miss talking with you ladies, just wanted to see how everyone is doing?!!
Hey Mama! How are you feeling these days?
We are doing well. So excited for baby's arrival. I had an appt last Tuesday and we were surprised he was still floating pretty high and head wasn't engaged. My doctor had to do an u/s because he wasn't sure it was the head he felt. Turns out little man is head down. My next appt is Friday. I am hoping for a vbac but my doctor said if the head isn't engaged by 39 weeks then we would schedule a csection. Of course things can change any time so now we just wait.
Hope everyone is doing well!
Go to spinning babies and get baby's head down and engaged!!!
Managed to mail off a big box to Sarahsunshine's home. Christmas is coming quickly! We're busy with a party for DH's students this evening. Then lots of other meetings and activities.
Having a kind of crappy time around here these days. Our basement reno is dragging on and on and on... no matter what we do we seem to manage to hire incompetents or con artists. It's been a painful process all around, but at least we're now at the drywall stage so we're finally feeling like we're hitting the home stretch.
In other news, our eldest Kieren, who we have had behaviour problems with both at home and at school for most of his life, has been diagnosed with a learning disability. He has nonverbal learning disability, which is basically a right brain impairment that gives them difficulty in 4 main areas: social skills (shich is Kieren's main problem), spatial sense (like geometry and map reading), executive function (organization, time management) and motor skills (balance, muscle tone). We're lucky that Kieren seems to be only mildly affected, and it's pretty localized to social skill problems.. but at the same time it's kind of depressing as it's a condition that tends to worsen with age, and is so wide-reaching. He's such a bright kid (scored in the 98th percentile for verbal reasoning skills), but in the perceptual (spatial) reasoning skills he was in the 19th percentile. So he's smart enough to know that he's struggling and it makes him more frustrated. We're trying to figure out now the best way to help him - we meet with a psychologist tomorrow who specializes in this LD.
We had Mimi also tested yesterday as this type of LD often runs in families, and preliminarily the consultant thought that she showed no evidence of NVLD... so that's a relief, anyway.
Other than that, just running around like a chicken every day. I spend all my spare time trying to learn more about Kieren's LD... it feels busy and stressful around here these days. We have Mimi's birthday party next weekend, then Christmas and I'm SO not prepared. Oh well, I'll get there eventually!
Oh and we're also having troubles with Kieren's classroom teacher. I think she really dislikes Kieren... I know he's not the easiest kid to teach, but some of the things she's said to him have made me SO. MAD.... Like once when he wrote on someone else's paper in his group, she called him up to her desk and said 'do you like yourself, Kieren'? And on several occasions now, she's accused him of lying in front of his classmates. Even after we've complained to the principal about it... yesterday again she said to |Kieren in front of everyone, "you're lying, Kieren". He already has no friends in the class, so this just makes him into more of a social pariah. And all the other kids are in groups, and his desk is a single. We've asked twice now for him to be put back into a group, and she's said no... says it's better for his and everyone else's learning. I guess she just doesn't care if he ever makes a friend or feels part of the class...\\\
Ugh, I could go on and on... :angry4: \
So that's why I haven't been around as much lately... sorry to be a downer again! Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to seeing some Christmas pics of our LO's !
BIG HUGS Kirsten. I'm sending you a private message.
Sarahsunshine's family had a terrible roll-over car accident on Sunday. Everyone except her DSS was involved and all are 100% OK, which is my miracle for the year. (I'm in worse shape than they are still.) It was a black ice problem. They are working on all the yukky stuff now: insurance, new car seats, chiropractor appointments, etc. As Sarah put it, "I'd have considered myself lucky if I'd only broken both arms!"
!!!!! OMG !!!!!
Isn't that twice now???? I seem to remember another big car accident (rear end?) when Ivy was a baby, and a huge insurance nightmare to work out then too??! The province of alberta needs to buy a few more salt and sand trucks!
Please send my ((hugs)) to sarah and the family - I'll be keeping them in my thoughts!
At least twice.... Oyyyyyyy.
Ivy is full of talk. "the car skated!!!"
I'll pass it on Kirsten.
