Anne, I loved teaching highschool! I hope this does the trick for you. You'll feel so useful helping the special ed people even though it is challenging. Being appreciated should make all the difference!

Woop Woop - Go BB... I always thought teaching high school kids would be fun, but not sure if I would have the patients with their "mouthy tongue" KWIM ;)...

Will you be taking the first few months of this school year off for Emilys arrival??

Congrats Anne! That's wonderful news. You certainly picked a challenging profession. But, I guess there is great reward that comes with a great challenge.

(and, I thought we were hoping you wouldn't get a job????)

Suzie- Yes- I'll be taking at least 8wks depending on when I have her....I think I'll just plan to say Nov. 1st is my return date.

Pammi- Part of me was hoping I wouldn't because I thought it would be nice to be home awhile...my only problem was insurance. I hope no one takes offense to this because I know that I would have used this program had I needed it, but it would have affected my pride a tad....Our state has health insurance for kids who don't have any called "delaware healthy kids program" that my kids woulda have had to go on to provide them insurance. I on the other hand would not have any insurance (a week after having a c-section no less) because we wouldn't qualify for medicare since DH would make too much. DH's work insurance is crap, even if we had the 600$ a month to pay for it (which we wouldn't have). So I felt like I needed to be looking because things would be crazy tight money wise with me home and I wouldn't have had insurance and my kids would have been on state provided insurance....basically I would have done it should I need to, however coming from having a well paying (enough Smile ) job, it would have been a blow to my ego I think.

BB don't feel bad - I am currently thinking about going back to work just to get us better insurance.. Right now we pay over $200 a week through DH insurance!! Its crazy how insurance is a big factor!!

YEAH!!! That is AWESOME news that you will be making more, working closer, and hopefully with better people!!! I'm so happy for you!

WOW, $200 a week for insurance? That's CRAZY. I guess I shouldn't complain about ours. DH and I work for the same place so we don't really have many choices. We have medical under me since I work part time and it's cheaper (only $10 a week cheaper, but that's $480 a year), and dental and eye under DH. I think I pay like $35 a week for all 4 of us, and DH pays like $15 a week.

Oh and don't get me started on insurance.....

We pay
$93/month for family dental
$641/month for health insurance
$52/month STD insurance
$208/month into our flex spending for medical

On top of that Trey has to have infusions every 6 weeks for his Crohn's disease. Before insurance the infusions are $3800-- and we pay 10%-- which means another $380 + office visit every 6 weeks. The only "good" news is that each year we max out our annual contribution about mid-July-- so then his treatments are "free"--lol......oy vey! But we never max out on his prescriptions for maintenance-- which are another $80/month.

I feel so lucky that we have good insurance bc I work for the state....but honestly, it is a huge chunk of money annually. And it prohibits us from doing what we want bc we'd love to be self-employed but there is no way we could afford insurance for Trey on the open market-- his damn disease....gah. But I know we are blessed to be able to have what we have, but do think something has to change with the way we are doing medicine in this country.

I certainly do not take offense. My dh got laid off in January from Lowe's (when they fired all of their middle mgmt on a national level and consolidated mgmt positions and hired temp./part time people to save $). I could go w/out insurance, but my dh needs meds for a medical condition so we are paying out the wazoo for cobra for him. I tried to sign the kids up for Medicaid in Ohio, but it is need based and I supposedly make too much $. UGH! I hope Obama's plan makes insurance affordable. It's a huge problem in this country. (Is that too political???) Today, my dh got offered a construction manager position with a small firm. The salary is good, but since it's a small firm, it doesn't have benefits. I am so frustrated with it!

Anyway, enough about me and my problems, congrats again to you! I hope everything works out!
