Naps

Is your almost 2.5 y.o. still taking them?

I am having a hard time with Kaitlyn. I should've never switched her to the toddler bed. I can't get her to actually lay down and go to sleep for a nap unless I lay down in her sister's bed (they share a room) and pretend to nap too. I have to lay there until she is asleep and that can take a looooonnnnngggggg time. She does take nice, long naps at the sitter's house. But, then I can't get her to sleep at night. Should I just give them up? Her brother and sister didn't give up naps until 3 or 3.5.

Kaylin still takes long naps...and I'm thankful because I like taking naps now, too!

She usually goes down around noon and gets up around three - three solid hours!

Sometimes Emily doesn't take a nap but when she does take a nap she is sleeping at 3-5ish. and then up until 9-10. But sometimes it nice because then she isn't so crabby!! but for me to get her to lay down by 1 is impossible! She is up at about 630 too.

Grady has been giving us some grief after the switch to the toddler bed too, but it would have probably been the same scenario at this age if we'd kept him in the pack n play as he could easily crawl in and out.

Grady naps 1 out of 2 days lately, but only if he falls asleep while nursing and I can just transfer him. Otherwise, forget it. Playing in full force, banging on the door etc. He is very crabby by late afternoon, so I know he needs them, but I just enforce the 1 hour in his room and leave him to it. Not worth the battle.

He goes down for the night by 8:30 and is up at 6:30 with the rest of us.

The girls still take naps. At daycare they are shorter, like 1.5 hours, and they are CRANKY at night because they are tired. At home they usually go down for 2-3 hours.

Ev usually takes a nap. He needs it and we have a miserable afternoon/evening if he doesn't. I put him down between 2 and 3 and he sleeps for about 2 hours.

Pammi - you are scaring me about the toddler bed! I was thinking about switching Ev soon. He goes to sleep so easily in the crib, maybe I should just leave it alone?

Mason still naps anywhere from 1.5 - 3 hours starting around 2pm.

I don't want to jinx anything, but Sam went from crib to toddler bed flawlessly. He was able to climb out of his crib before we moved him, so we had already had to talk about "once you are in bed, you stay there." That concept followed him to the toddler bed, and he doesn't get out on his own unless I tell him he can. Sometimes it takes him a while to fall asleep, but it did in the crib, too. It probably helps that his toddler bed is his crib without the front panel.

Ginny, Ev's toddler bed will be the same, the crib without the front panel. I am hoping that will make the transition smooth! I am excited about the chance to look for some cute bedding! Biggrin
