Do you remember what you were doing when you heard about the plane crashing into the WTC on 9/11?
I was walking through the reception area of my old office. My receptionist said to me "a plane just crashed into the WTC. They think the pilot was drunk or something". I went back to my office and I didn't think much more about it until my secretary told me that another plane had crashed into the 2nd tower. Then, we all crowded into my dad's office 12 attorneys and 8 secretaries. My dad was the only one in the place who had a t.v. It was a small, portable tv. We had no cable in the office so it had lines and fuzz. Even with all of those people, it was so quiet it was eerie. I guess we were all stunned.
We heard on the news that local courts were closing. I had a hearing that afternoon. I called the court in advance to make sure the court was still open. The judge's bailiff was so rude. "This is X county. We are not going to close because of some plane crash in NYC". Later, that bailiff apologized to me. I guess he didn't realize what was going on.
