Thinking I am done...

With the ttc deal. I finally got an email that I was able to see my progesterone results last night when I got out of yoga class. Well, I am back to square one. It was 1.7, after being 33.6 last cycle. I kinda knew things weren't good since I didn't get a positive OPK this cycle. If my doctor doesn't call this morning, I am going to call in the afternoon. I Told DH that I feel ready to stop since I feel like its taking over my life with all of the ups and downs each cycle. When I saw my doctor last week he said he couldnt let me stop now. We will see what he has to say but I hope he can also respect how I feel after trying for over a year and a half amd now feel as if we are going backwards.

So....that my latest and I'll update once I talk to him. Thanks for listening! Biggrin

Laurie, I completely understand how you feel. We ttc for two years before going to the RE. It REALLY was a different ballgame after that. Could you think about taking some time off to relax and then at least going for a consult at a fertility clinic? Let an RE do a little testing and share his thoughts with you. That way you'd at least know you weren't giving up when the problem could be fixed easily. If it's somthing that will take a lot more trying and guess work or even more extreme intervention, then make the decision to quit at that point. I'd hate for you to pass up a little brother or sister for Evan prematurely. All the same, I really do respect how you are feeling, and you should make whatever decision feels good to you.

I'm so sorry, Laurie. My heart hurts for you but I understand why you came to this decision. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult this is for you month after month. Praying for peace!

I'm so sorry that you got poor results this month, Laurie. Sad

While I can also respect and understand the decision you feel like you are ready to make, I really hope you will at least consider Ginny's advice to see the RE. At the very least, you'd always know that you did absolutely everything you could.

I'm so so sorry that you have to deal with this month after month though. My thoughts are with you. ((hugs))

The RE did the trick for our friends, so I encourage you to try that route when you are ready.

I spoke to my doctor tonight and he was surprised I didn't ovulate after such a good ovulation last cycle. He is going to increase my clomid dose to 200 mg for the next cycle and that is the max dose so I have one more shot at it. He wants me to hold off doing the tests until after next cycle because he said they are not covered by insurance and cost $1500. Then as far as a referral to RE, he is more than willing to do it but said my next step would be to try injectables with IUI. Realistically, we would not be able to afford it since I am not working. I have a friend who is on her fourth cycle of injectables and is putting it all on a credit card ($1800/cycle). DH and I could never live with that sort of debt knowing it would be a long time before we could pay it off. So...once again the wait is on for me to have a period and give clomid one more try.

Thank you all again for your support and encouragement!

Double check with your insurance, Laurie. Many insurance companies will cover diagnosis, just not the treatment. All of my diagnosis was covered The fertility clinics are really know the ins and outs of the insurance company policies and usually do everything they can to code all diagnosis appropriately so it is covered. As far as the injections, they ARE expensive. My RE recommended a company in England from which you could order the drugs more cheaply. If you end up considering that route and want the info, I'll be happy to call his office and get it. On the other hand, injectables might NOT be the next step. The RE could find something else to treat in you OR DH. If you aren't always ovulating, then you want to make sure DH has the best swimmers possible for when you do ovulate. Additionally, you can do IUI's without injections and increase your chances, too, if that ends up being appropriate for your situation. That's actually how we conceived Sam. Since you have ovulated some, I don't see why that's not something the RE might consider.

I don't mean to be pushy. If you need a break, then you need a break. Follow your heart. I just really would hate for you to give up without having the best information at hand. A consult with the RE might open doors you didn't know were there. I'll be thinking about you and praying you get some peace.

Thanks for all of the info, Ginny! I really do appreciate that you can share your experiences to help me! I plan to call insurance during Ev's nap today. I get the feeling my doctor is presenting a somewhat narrow view of my options at the fertility clinic, but also realizing that is not his area of expertise.
