Aren't they just amazing???

I mean all the Moonbeams in general. I know I'm the mom of only one so I have time to sit around and be amazed by the every day things my kid does... but, it is what it is- she amazes me. She just makes me stop and go, "Man, you are AMAZING!" like pretty much every day. And when I say amazing, I mean, just in the most normal, how is it even possible that you start from this crying, pooping little lump and turn into this little person who does all this stuff.

Today, she started playing with a box of cat food. The box was already open, and she stuck her hand inside and was trying to get some out. I told her it wasn't hers, and then asked my DH to put that box away since it was open, and I didn't want her getting into it, spilling it, etc. So he takes that box, and puts it in a cupboard. Well, there was another unopened box. So Beni picks that one up and then walks over to the same cupboards and tries to put it away too! She obviously didn't get WHY we put the one box away, but she saw her dad put it away and figured this box which is the same, should probably go the same place. And she couldn't get into the cupboard that he had put the first box in, so she just chose a different one and put her box in there.

It's such a normal little thing- not really special at all- except that 14 mos ago she couldn't even lift her own head, much less see her father do something and do it as well.

Growing people is just awesome, no? And watching people grow. I love being a mom. Smile

I have those moments too. The moments where you realize how much they are watching and taking in. I can't think of a specific one off the top of my head but I know I've pointed these things out to my husband many times! I will try to come back with an example soon. Smile

And it never goes away! I still on a daily basis look at my almost 4 y o in wonderment at all the things she knows and can do. Just the thought that these amazing little people in my life started out inside of me, the size of a poppy seed, blows my mind. No way I'm that special to have been able to do that! It really is an amazing thing to be a parent and see it 1st hand unfold in front of you on a daily basis!

Alissa, I'm so glad to see you write that! I don't want this phenomenon of noticing these wonderful things to be a passing thing- I'm glad to know that 4 years later you still have it! Smile

Yes it doesnt go away it just gets better. I crack up every day at my 5 year old and what comes out of his mouth. My 3 year old too. Naya is so smart too and she watches everything the boys do...some good and some bad. Having kids is the best thing in the world. I agree its so cool that they start out being these little tiny helpless things and turn into little people. My friend texted me last night that if i knew what her 17 year old son was doing these days i would not want kids...lol so i enjoy these days because i am a little scared about those teenage years.

Oh I so do the same thing! Every day. At both my girls. I'm just constantly blown away by them. I love it. My heart bursts with pride and love it's nearly consuming. :love1:

I agree that it never stops. My almost 3.5 year old blows me away on a daily basis, as does Lucas! It's so fun watching all the new things Noah learns, and hearing the funny things he says. I love watching Lucas do things that I remember Noah doing at the same age, and also doing things on his own timeline. Lucas blows me away with all the time with his learning to listen and speak and sign. It's amazing how something that you take for granted (and I did with Noah!) can be so incredibly powerful to watch emerge! I agree with Jordan's sentiment. I watch those two and just get overwhelmed with joy, pride, wonder and love. Raising these little can be so challenging, but man is it a wonderful experience!

Every day, at least one of my kids makes me feel that way. Motherhood truly is the very best job you can ever have.

And since we're sharing stories, yesterday, each of the boys went potty and got into the tub for a quick shower. Eve saw them and tried to get on the toilet once Luke was finished. They are so observant and smart at this age. Such sweet little scientists, ready to explore and experience the world!

And you have so much to look forward to! Every single stage and year that passes by.. you just look at your kids and think.. HOLY MOLY--- I created you and look at what you are doing now! If you have 1 kid or 10 I swear you will always be blown away at each one and the special stage they are in!

My oldest who just turned 5 is blowing me away currently with all the reading and math she is flying through at the speed of light. I look at her and think.. you are my oldest, my first baby and just the other day I was amazed when you learned to draw a circle with a crayon and now you are doing THIS???

It's why I keep having more I tell you.. Biggrin

Aww, reading this made me tear up a bit, but I totally agree that kids are amazing. My 15 year old amazes & impresses me as much as little Nico does, just in different ways - it makes life worth living & I just love it!!
Great post Mara!

This almost made me pee my pants Lol It's very fun to have a girl after two boys. She loves playing cars and trucks with them but begs to get her toes painted. Definitely a cross between a tom boy and a girly girl!

As much as i try the only thing aside from naya having girly parts that make her a girl are her clothes. I try so very hard and she wants nothing to do with girl things. Babies get chucked around. She is all about cars, trucks and dragons etc etc. I am hoping she will be a little girly. I was a major tomboy having a older brother so i was hoping to have a girly girl. Maybe if i paint her toes....lol I will say dont mess with her as she is as tough as they come and pushes her brothers around. Falls down and get right back up.

Eve is just like the bolded. Actually, whenever she does something that's supposed to hurt (like hit her head or whatever), she just says, "Ow!" and goes about her business. We always said that nobody is going to mess with her because she has two brothers to protect her. It looks like because she has two brothers she won't need protecting anyway because she can already hold her own against the two of them.

Beni did it again today. DH had been in this one room most of the afternoon working on his computer...now and then to distract her I kept telling her to go see where her dad was. Then later, I was on the phone and she was being loud, and DH was in the kitchen- around the corner from where we were. So I told her to go find her dad. She heads toward the room where he has been all afternoon. I tell her no, in the kitchen. She stops, looks toward both rooms... and then still starts to head to the other room... and then turns around and heads to the kitchen. There is something about watching the wheels in her head turn that I just find so amusing. She wanted to go in that room, because she knew he'd been in there all day...but then she seemed to understand the word kitchen.... I don't know... I just love her. Smile

Motherhood is truly a blessing Smile I love seeing these little people evolve, the fun never stops! Today Aaron is 15 months old and that has flown so fast! I still remember this time last year so clearly and thinking back then that in 12 months time I will have a toddler...and an amazing one at that!

This morning he made me laugh, the girls brought him into my room and he pulls up, cruises to my bedside table with this cheeky grin. He proceeds to grab a tissue from the tissue box, takes one and put it to his nose and blows out of his nose! Was so cute! I also find this hilarious, the girls fight constantly these days (always telling them off especially doing it in front of Aaron) so when I do tell them off, Aaron is right there doing the same. Like the other day he comes charging down the hallway(on his knees as he does at full pace lol) after I told them off he's like "Ra ra ba ba *grunt grunt*" and goes to each of the girls and smacks them! He's telling them what for! He also knows he should not touch DH's PS3 controller...yersterday he was holding it and examining it and saw me watching and goes "Uhoh!" and puts it back Smile
