dry baby skin

I was curious what you all use for lotion and soap in the winter. I forgot how dry Luke's skin gets! He gets big dry patches and scratches them. Last year we were using lubriderm and vaseline. We just started using a 24 hr suave lotion mixed with vaseline... And he still is dry. It gets better only if I'm very vigilant and slather him three times a day. Do I just have a really dry kid... Or is there a better way? We also just switched to a dove moisturizing bar for bath soap. he loves baths... We have been bathing him daily, I suppose its time to cut back! Any other ideas?

I rub baby oil into Eve's dry spots (and mine too!). They actually think she has a touch of eczema and gave us some samples of Hylira to use when her skin doesn't hydrate with the oil.

You could also use coconut oil, but it leaves a very heavy coconut smell. I actually add a little coconut oil into her bottle of regular baby soap (like 5- 8 drops max) when I first open it. Coconut oil is not only hydrating but also keeps lice away. It may be available in your grocery store, but we get our coconut oil from an Indian shop in our city. If you don't have any Indian or Asian shops, you can get it on Amazon. We use the Parachute brand. It's actually what my ILs brought over the last time they visited.

I'll second coconut oil. We use it for Fiona's psoriasis and DH's eczema. It's a wonder product. And I love the coconut smell.

Two of my boys have eczema and we use Dove soap and Eucerin lotion. I'd never heard of coconut oil. We'll definitely have to try that!

lol, Carolyn! Smile

I put some into the bath water instead of soap for my girls. But Fiona has serious psoriasis and can't use any soap. Then she also gets a good rub down with a bit of coconut oil, too. Keeps her soft and clear of scales.

I was advised to use Aquaphor within 3 minutes of getting out of the tub to seal in the moisture. That stuff works like a charm for us.

I've heard Aquaphor is great too, Julie! I had completely forgotten about it.

I'm excited to see that others use coconut oil Biggrin It's a great thing and can be used for all kinds of stuff.
