Mason's One Year Visit

Here's his stats: 31" and 23 lbs 14 oz (he actually lost about a 1/2 lb since his last visit 2 weeks ago but that's due to him moving around more now and his illnesses. Doc wasn't worried though and neither am I).

Also he still has a lot of fluid in his ears and a very "juicy" cough. She put him on augmentin in case there is an infection. I have to take him back in a few weeks to check his ears again. If there is still fluid he'll get tubes. No biggie - we've had 2 of the other kids get them too so we're old hat at it. You just hate to see your kiddo go through it.

She did say that she feels he should be making more "words" but that he might be impaired due to the muffled hearing from the fluid in his ears. This is what my DSS#2 had until he got tubes. So we'll just wait and see in a few weeks.

Otherwise he got 2 shots and his hemoglobin checked and he handled it all really really well. He was a real trooper! Everything else looks great!

Yay for a good appointment! I felt the pain before the utbes was much worse for my poor bugger than the actual surgery lol...

Those are wonderful stats. I hope the fluid goes away. Or if you're in the camp where you want the tubes done, then I hope you get to go through that journey quickly and have an easy recovery.

Great stats! I hope the fluid clears so you can avoid the tubes but hey if that makes Mason better so be it! I hope his chest clears too, poor little man.

Sounds like a great appointment for the most part! What a big guy! I hope his cough gets better soon!

Lucas just got ear tubes put in both ears on Friday. It was super easy for him too. I'm *sure* that the fluid is affecting his hearing! Obviously Lucas is a different case, but he went COMPLETELY deaf even with his hearing aids on when he had fluid in his ears. He went from being a good active listener that reacted to sound all the time, to *nothing*- and that included really loud stuff. I'm sure that is also why Mason isn't producing much right now. Lucas dropped a bunch of the stuff that he had been saying because he didn't hear it anymore. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it clears up on it's own soon!

Great stats for a healthy, growing boy!! Yay! Sorry about the tubes, but I hope it helps him! I'm glad you're not stressed about it either. Smile
