Here's our 4th round - chat away ladies!!!
Carolyn - glad you had a nice weekend.... you need more of those to ease your stress!
I am a perpetual student but honestly I prefer online... I like to work at my own pace and when I have free time etc.. Problem is that our contract right now only allows us to take one online class every 3 years for it to count as salary credit which really is a big reason I am taking so many... our scale tops out at 105 credits and I will be at 66 the end of this summer. we are hoping our new contract which we hear about next week will have that changed. Then I think I will do an online CAGS in administration!
I'm glad most of you had a great weekend!
I'm very tired because we were all over the place this weekend. We went to my family's house on Saturday (it's not really that far, only about an hour's drive) and mass. On Sunday, we had a long playdate at the pool with Sean's best friend. Their last day at preschool was last Tuesday, so they don't get to see each other every day anymore. On Sunday night/Monday morning (3 am), Eve started throwing up in bed, so I took her to urgent care on Monday morning and was stuck there for a couple hours. It turns out it was just sinus junk (I know all too well her misery), and she prescribed something to help dry out her mucous. She also had the beginnings of conjunctivitis, so she gave us some drops to put in her eye. They announced the winner of the baby contest, and it wasn't Eve, but it also wasn't any of the people who were cheating, so we're happy about that. I went for a little run in the park in the early evening, but it was a bit much with all the heat. They're forecasting upper 90's later this week
I went to the dentist this morning and got my second permanent crown put in! I done with the dentist now until I get my next cleaning- which should be in 6 mos, and honestly, probably won't be! It'll probably be the next time I come home again. Which by the way, Carolyn, is in southern Michigan, right on the lake (Lake Michigan that is!).
Waiting on the mail today... wondering if anything fun will come. Carolyn, an ipod touch is, as far as I can tell, an iphone minus the phone part. It does everything else- including storing all your music and has internet access, but just isn't a phone.
Awww Suzanne hope eve is better and you can get some rest!
An Ipod touch is so much fun... mine barely gets any use lately since I have an Android phone so it does all the same... and I am addicted to Pandora radio sine I never have time to actually download music anymore lol
Aimee I have a droid phone too - love it!
I forgot to mention a little craziness from Mason's birthday party day. Around 10:30 my DS#1 fell into the TV that's in his room (the two 7 yr old's were watching a video the night before in their room). He cut his head and after a couple of hours it wouldn't stop bleeding so I had to take him to urgent care for stitches! We were almost late to Mason's party!!! This is the 3rd set of stitches that boy has had! And he's our coordinated one!!!
Ah well, parenting is never dull.
Oh yes, see... I would have gotten a droid phone instead of the touch, but, there weren't any available in the "store" where I was shopping.... and we can't buy phones with a "plan" from a provider because then they would be useless to us... and paying $500-$800 (that is what they cost when you just buy the phone!) for a phone just isn't in the budget for us right now! So, the touch it was!
I just bought Beni an $8 baby swimming pool. I have no pump. I'm about to start blowing. Wish me luck!
Oh Mara, I hope you have a lot of hot air it is so funny how there are so many fancy toys out there, and truthfully, she will be ecstatic with an eight dollar pool!
Aimee where do you teach? I am just gearing up for a conference on academic career planning and needing to sort out what to do post-phd, so any advice on faculty life would be good!
I actually did it quite easily! Yay! Managed to do it while she was sleeping- although didn't get it filled yet. Will have to go do that and let it warm up a little.
I've started this post like, 5 times today? Gah!
Glad everyone had a mostly good holiday weekend! Suzanne, I'm sorry poor little Eve got so sick! I hope she's on the mend soon!
Carolyn, glad your weekend was nice and relaxing, you deserve that! And I love that you announced the pregnancy on FB today too, yay!
We had a picnic at the in-laws yesterday. It was nice but it was SO HOT! It was 95 degrees outside, and then their air conditioning broke! We were ROASTING. The kids had fun with water balloons though and it helped them cool off. But I think Jake got over stimulated and over tired b/c he was literally up every 45 minutes to an hour last night. Seriously. I had to get up for work today and I am a total zombie. I'm only functioning b/c of coffee.....
OH! So I broke down and ordered the Britax Blink stroller on Albeebaby today...and I'm SO EXCITED!!! I wanted a nice umbrella stroller for our trip to Charleston next month, and while it was still a little more than I initially wanted to pay I got an awesome deal and it seems like the perfect stroller for what we need! I'm way too excited about it LOL.
OH! My friend and I found some GORGEOUS fabric yesterday too, for one cocktail dress and two skirts. I'm so excited!
Oh and Mara I need a little pool for the boys--they LOVE playing in the water! Jake gets all giddy, it's so darn cute!
Meagan - you are one excited girl today!! Yippeee!!!
I was thinking of taking Mason swimming tonight. It's so hot today. I'm still not sure if I want to get everything ready and go to the pool or not. Plus I have to figure out dinner for the two of us. Tonight is DH's "happy hour" night with his colleagues so it's just me and my little squishy bug.
I had to go through all these applications for a data analyst position on my team. Man, some of them are just sorry. Several were over qualified and wanted way over the posting salary. I narrowed it down to 6 potential folks. With any luck I'll get one winner. This is not my favorite thing. Tonight after Mason goes to bed I have to do performance reviews so I can get everyone their reviews before June 20th. Fun fun.
Christina, goodness, I hope your DS is feeling better soon.
Mara, good job on the pool! I hope Beni loves it.
Aimee, best of luck with your classes. Yay for pay increase once it's all over! And woohoo for tenure
Heather, if Eve had been a boy, we would have named her Mark Michael. You can use that if you and your DH like it too.
Meagan, yay for a pretty dress and skirts!
AF is kicking my bum right now. I'm tired, and my insides feel all bloaty and under pressure.
Oh dear Christina that is way too much work for after-work hours! Boo! I hope it passes quickly for you!
Suzanne, my AFs (the last 2 anyway) have been rough too. Actually it's the PMS that's the worst, the actual period isn't so bad. But the PMS makes me totally miserable!
So, I started back on the mini-pill for two reasons. Primarily, I'm hoping it will help me from getting migraines. I've been getting one every month and they are HORRIBLE. I know they are hormonally related so I'm hoping regulating the hormones will help. But at the same time, we were told to use back-up birth control for a few months after the vasectomy b/c there will still be spermies in the tubes. LOL. So I started that this month. Today I noticed the start of some EWCM...I shouldn't ovulate on the mini-pill, right?
meagan: thats awesome about your friend being such a good seamstress! that's such a neat talent to have. You will have to post some pics. I could probably manage an apron... but a COCKTAIL DRESS? yikes! thats so cool! I know nothing about the mini pill,, but i hope you don't get a migraine this month. i know on some low dose birth control you can still ovulate, thats why birth control has to work in two ways, by preventing ovulation/and or preventing implantation if ovulation does occur. i think some women on birth control can still ovulate periodically. At least that's always been my understanding of it!
christina: i hope his stitches heal up okay. how old is he? suturing kids is AWFUL!!! i hope he tolerated it okay. scars don't mature for 12 months and can be permanently darkened by the sun, so once its healed its a good idea to keep a high SPF sunscreen on it. (then again he's a boy and probably doesnt care lol)
suzanne: i hope AF lets up soon.
mara: you will have to take lots of pics of beni in her pool!
im working the next three nights. i have no idea what to expect! im praying for quietness.
Meagan- you will need to post us pics of the dress & skirts when she is done with them! How fun!
Christina- Sounds like a lot of work! Hope it isn't too bad!
Mara- Great job blowing up that pool...that usually makes me a little light headed!
Carolyn- Hope work goes smoothly and quickly for you!
I love listening to DH out in the toy room playing "band" with the kids. He is playing guitar the girls are playing who knows what(but loudly) and Keegan is trying to dance. Love it!
My Mom and sister have been making their own laundry detergent for awhile now. ( I think it is the Duggar recipe) They love it and it is so much cheaper! I decided to give it a try today. It was really easy to make! I have done a couple loads with it and so far I like it!
It has been really hot here too! Close to 100 today and very humid. I think it is going to rain tonight and that should cool it down some!
Heather I teach science at a vocational high school in MA. I love teaching for its hours and really for working with kids. They are so much fun for the most part and it really works well for me. I think I would like admin down the road somewhere and figure I might as well take the classes now.
Mara we got Aves a pool like that that needs to be blown up too and once our deck is done she will be water table playing and swimming... DH and his dad are taking tomorrow off to finish it...
Ok off to put laundry away.. ugh i hate chores lol
I'm going to try to keep up with this chat thread! I always start reading when there are a ton of pages and feel bad just jumping in!
Suzanne- I hope Eve is feeling better, poor girl! I'm sorry she didn't win, but I'm glad none of the cheaters did either. I hope your periods get better. My first two were brutal, but this last one wasn't too bad. No clue what made the difference!
Mara- I bet you're going to love the itouch! I have a droid too and they are so addicting! Those kiddie pools are great, I'm impressed you blew it up yourself! We've been laying a tarp out on the lawn and running the hose on it and the boys love it!
Christina- your poor DS! You'll have to help him come up with a cool story for his "battle wound" Sorry work is crazy, I hope it calms down for you soon!
Meagan- It was hot like that here too! Glad you guys had fun, but sorry the A/C broke- yuck! I hope Jake sleeps better for you tonight! That's SO cool that your friend is making you clothes! I need someone to do that for me! Let us know how you like your new stroller! I want to pick up a new, nicer umbrella stroller, but not sure what to get.
Carolyn- I hope it's a quiet three days for you! I can't imagine working the shifts that you do! You are superwoman!
Tara- I bet it was so sweet to watch your DH and his little "band"! It's been really warm here too- but I love it! It had been in the 40's and raining all the way up until last week so I'll take it!
Aimee- how close are you to Boston? We are going to be in Boston and Waltham a lot this summer! I hear you on the laundry- I swear it's never ending!
Today was such a great day! Lucas shocked the heck out of me this morning! We go to a school for the deaf on Tuesday mornings for Infants and Toddlers and their parents. Kind of a play group, with language and signing opportunities. At the end of every morning one of the teachers reads a book, and a deaf woman signs along with it. This morning it was "Brown Bear, Brown Bear".
After the teacher read "I see a red bird looking at me" and turned the page Lucas said "Red Bird" (reh bir). I heard it, but figured I was just hearing things, until my friend sitting next to me tapped me on my knee and asked me if he just said "red bird"! The next page was the yellow duck and he repeated "ello duh" after it was read. At this point we both had our jaws on the floor and were just sitting there stunned. A few more animals were read and when they got to the white dog he said it loud and clear enough for everyone else in the room to hear him and understand what he said! You seriously could have knocked me over with a feather. He also waved and said "bye bye" after our goodbye song.
I was SO excited to hear my little boy, who is mostly deaf, and hasn't had ANY sound in two months because of fluid, saying THREE two word sentences- totally unprompted. I'm pretty sure that's more than NOAH was saying at 13 months! I can't even describe how awesome it felt. I've been on a high from it all day! I'm nervous for the surgery, but I'm SO excited to see how much more his langauge will bloom after getting better access to sound and speech.
Sorry for the book- it was just so much more than him just saying "red bird, yellow duck & white dog".
Yay Lucas! Oh and Tonya - if you lose sight of this thread don't hesitate to jump back in! Sometimes I do that!
Got through all 48 applications last night and narrowed it down to 7 possible. I'll try to make some phone calls the rest of this week and get it down to 3 on site interviews. I had some real hum-dingers in the totally not qualified department including one that had me lol. People are so funny.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Tonya- That is AWESOME! That put a big smile on my face!
Oh Tonya that is Awesome!!!! Such huge accomplishments and really it coems down to you being on top and getting the best for him. I am about 30 minutes from Boston and 20 from Waltham (my aunt is actually the mayor of Waltham and my family all lives there lol) We should plan a time and Sara actually just moved this way and we could all get together!
Christina don't you wonder what goes through peoples mind when they send something that makes you think that way about them? I just don't get it sometimes lol
Well we just finished our first morning of MCAS testing... it was so hot in the gym I felt bad for the kids... of course one of the hottest and muggiest days are for the test lol.
Christina, I hope you find the perfect candidate for the position.
Tara, your DH and kids sound so cute together. I love it when the kids get good quality Daddy Time!
Mara, how is Beni liking the pool?
Meagan, I hope you're able to find something that helps with your PMS. I still have horrendous mood swings, and I think I'm going to discuss it with my dr during my yearly.
Tonya, it's fine to jump in! I'm so proud of Lucas. It sounds like he's a really smart little guy
So Eve threw up again last night (all mucous and milk) and was coughing all night. We run a humidifier, but it wasn't helping, so I finally slathered her chest in Vicks baby and sat in the recliner with her all night. You couldn't tell she was having any problems this morning, aside from an occasional cough. I think I'm going to give these meds one more day, and if she still isn't better, I'm taking her back. I hate seeing her so miserable at night.
Poor little Eve! I hope she's doing better today. Sounds like you have a good plan.
I understand about the coughing though - Mason seems to cough every day. I'm actually hoping at this point he'll get tubes in his ears because I think a lot of his cough is due to the fluid in his ears then drains down his throat.
Aimee - sorry about the testing room being so hot. But I'm sure you and everyone else are glad it's over!
Aimee, wow, those aren't good conditions for tests! I hope the time went by quickly for the students.
Poor Mason! I'm with him and Eve on the sinus drainage. I hope that if they do tubes, they help him out.
Quiet ladies today (well other than me and Suzanne but that's nothin' new!!)
Open your mouth and speak, my friends! (well, I guess I mean your fingers?) whatever!
Just hope everyone is doing great! I loved the check in responses this week - especially those who were brave enough to do the poem part! Ha! Some of them were sooo cute and funny!
HAHA you ladies are funny sometimes!
Yeah the testing conditions stink.. they are tough in general for the science one because a) they have already taken two (english in march and math in may) b) this will be the hardest of the three for most of them because of the amount of recall and reading and c) it is 3 weeks before school gets out when all they think about is summer vacation... but it is what it is so we make do lol.. I am lucky that my school has air conditioning becuase the majority in MA do not..
so lets see.. DH is off today finishing the deck (luckily rain passed so they were able to)... Avery is having an awesome day and was just headed our for a walk when I went down to see her... and not much else to report
Wow, Aimee, I can't imagine any building out here without A/C! Temperatures are close to 100 and feeling like 105 right now.
My left boob feels like it's going to burst! I'm so ready to go pick up Eve. One more hour to go...
Tonya- that is REALLY AWESOME about Lucas talking! I'm still impressed when Beni repeats something I say, and she has normal hearing. For Lucas to do it just like that is just plain wonderful! And yeah, don't feel bad just jumping in. I do it from time to time as well!
Christina- I seem to have missed what is going on with Mason- sick again and stitches? I hope he's better soon!
Suzanne- Sorry Eve is still not feeling well. Seems like she can't get a break either. I hope you can get something figured out for her so she can feel better! And, I hope you had a nice nursing session when you picked her up.
I hate standardized tests! Especially for how torturous they can be, and how little they actually tell us. Sorry your kids had to suffer through that, Aimee!
So as you can see from my siggy pic, Beni LOVED the pool. I filled it up and then tried to give it about an hour to warm up, but it was already late in the day, and it was mostly in the shade, so it was still pretty cold. She got in anyway, and played for a while, but she did willingly get out, just because it was so cold. Today was actually only in the low 70s around here actually, so she didn't go in today. I emptied the pool yesterday- I don't want it to leave a spot on the lawn (even though it is actually really crappy yard, not really lawn at all) because this is my mom's rental house that will be full of renters all summer- I don't want to make it worse for her. So I'll just have to fill it earlier in the day next time I do it, so that it's warmer for her!
Can I tell you ladies something that just got me over the weekend? I know not everyone on here feels the same about artificial sweeteners, but, I avoid them at pretty much all costs, which means that I obviously am going to avoid them for Beni too. Well, this weekend when we were at the party for my cousin's confirmation Beni was eating a cracker and sort of start choking on it- not like call 911 she's gonna die choking, but like, something dry went down her throat and she might need a sip of water kind of choking. So my other cousin's baby mamma was right there and had a cup with a clear liquid and ice in it, and offered it to Beni, "Do you want a sip of this?" So she gave her a sip, and then Beni made a face and then she was all, "Oh she wants more...it's diet 7 up." I was like, "Oh no, she won't be having any more. We'll get her some water." I don't know... I guess it takes all sorts, but, even if I drank that stuff, I wouldn't be giving it to my one year old. Ugh. Obviously I know it's not really a big deal, she consumed less than a tsp of it, but, still... gross.
So I went for a run this morning and then took Beni on a long walk this afternoon- more than 10k covered in one day! My legs are feeling TIRED! It was really nice out though and I hadn't been for a run in a long time. And then it was too cold for the pool, but too nice to stay inside, so the long walk it was. Also, I stopped in to schedule the massage that my DH bought for me for mother's day (will be having that next week- yes!) and Beni and I shared an ice cream cone. I have totally been digging on mint chocolate chip ice cream lately. But I also made a new rule for myself and ice cream- if I want to eat it, I have to walk to get it- so no buying it from the store. That rule works for where we live right now. Also means I can't eat a whole pint at like 11pm, which is a good thing!
Oh...one more thing... so I totally randomly for like no reason took a hpt today. Last time we dtd was April 24, and I've had plenty of BFNs since then. Well, today, I took the test, and then my mom came into the bathroom (is that weird? We're open!) and I was kind of embarassed that I was being so silly taking a test- so I didn't look at it again until a while later- like more than an hour. And lo and behold, the faintest line you've ever seen. It's an internet cheapy (pink dye), and I'm SURE it's an evap...but now I'm going to have to take another one tomorrow morning just to make sure. It would be REALLY weird if I was pg and only got a positive now. I mean... dtd on April 24 and my last BFN was May 17...now it's June 1... surely I couldn't only NOW be getting a BFP, right? (I really hope not, because I have been drinking like 1-2 beers a night for like 3-4 nights a week the last month!)
Thanks ladies! You guys have been there from the beginning, and I just had to share that moment with you. I'm still amazed
Christina- glad you've been able to narrow it down! At least you get to be entertained by some of the resumes while you try to decide! It sounds like tubes probably would be a good thing for Mason, I hope you get a decision soon! They've made a huge difference for Lucas!
Aimee- wow you're super close to Waltham! That's so cool that your Aunt is the Mayor! I'll be in Waltham more often than boston, since we go to the Children's Hospital there for mappings. I'd love to meet up with you and Sara sometime! I know we go down in mid July for a mapping that shouldn't take too long, maybe we can make plans when the date gets closer! What a crappy day for the kids to take a test in a hot room! It was super muggy here today too. I remember taking tests when it was hot- makes it so much harder! I saw the picture of the finished deck on facebook- looks awesome!!
Suzanne- poor Eve! I hope she's feeling better soon! It's so tough seeing our babies sick, especially sick enough to keep vomitting.
Mara- she definitely looks like she was enjoying herself! I'm always amazed at how tolerant of cooler water temperatures kids can be! Mine were playing in water that I wouldn't touch and they were happy as can be! I hear you on the soda thing. I LOVE sweet stuff, and will drink soda, but as a kid my sugar intake was pretty limited. It's pretty much the same for my kids. I think most reasonable things are ok in moderation, but soda is something I havn't felt a need to give either of them yet. My DH's family used to give their kids soda in their bottles, to the point where they had major issues with their baby teeth. Because of that my DH is even less tolerant of sugars for the kids! Good for you for all the excercising!
Tomorrow I am getting a free massage and I am SO looking forward to it! My DH is helping a friend of his design his website, and he had some free massages, so he passed one on to me! Woohoo!
So I took my one left over FRER this morning and of course it was stark white. I knew it would be. Stupid IC evap. Oh well. Only two more weeks til we can start trying in vain again to have another baby, since I still have no sign whatsoever of a period!
Am I the last one left still not cycling??? Anyone else?
Cute pic of Beni in her new pool!!!
Mara - Mason has just had a lot of breathing issues and his ears have fluid in them. He goes back for an ear check in a month and we'll determine if he needs tubes. It was my DS#1 that got yet another set of stitches.
Off to another day of work. I have a crazy schedule today so I won't be able to do my standard 3 minute check in But have a great day ladies and I'll try to check in sometimes this afternoon.
Sorry it was negative Mara! I just recently got mine back. Just finished my third cycle- yuck! Lucas also just finished nursing - and he was down to very minimal nursing when I started it for the first time (on his birthday actually!). How much is Beni nursing? I hope she shows up soon for you so you can start TTC!
Christina- I hope if today has to be crazy it at least goes by fast for you!
I'm off to run errands all by myself and get a massage this afternoon. It's a rare thing that I get to do any shopping by myself, so I plan on taking my time! Hopefully Daddy will be at home all by himself with both kids! haha!
Mara, I would totally send you AF if I could. She's making me all crazy. I like your ice cream policy and WTG on the nice long walk.
Tonya, enjoy your massage!
Christina, I hope your work day is not too overwhelming.
So, Eve actually had a pretty good night last night. Aside from a minimal amount of coughing, she slept well. I hope last night was the start to getting better for her.
I'm glad Eve is feeling better!
Tonya - a massage!!!! Woot!!! Enjoy!
Mara - well, enjoy the "practice" of TTC until the witch shows back up - I'm sure it won't be too long now!
Wow what a chatty bunch today while I was in MCAS testing once again... it was rough on the kids but I felt really good after because my students were like you taught us so much of what was on there and did a great job... It is so much to cover and knowing the kids knew the stuff was huge relief!
Mara I like your ice cream situation.. I tried that before too because I love soft serve and there is a place about .5 mile away.. maybe I will go back to that this summer!
Tonya - def sounds like a plan. Sara and I are both north of Waltham too so it is more on your way home so we can meet up!
Ugh I am so dreading this class tonight.. it is an hour away and it is until 8:30 which is about my bed time haha... and it is on a topic that interests me in NO way... We got our contract too for the next 3 years. O verall I think it is pretty good but we did give up a bunch that stinks.
Oh Mara, I was just catching up and got all excited reading your thread, that would be quite a welcome home gift to dh when he got here, but I guess if it was bfn today it will give you something to work on
That is so awesome about Lucas' speech, he is doing amazing! sophie doesn't say much beyond mama and dada really.
we are getting our driveway and sidewalk poured today-not too exciting but for me it is, should mean less dirt being tracked into the house, hooray. my parents are coming to stay for a couple of days today, they haven't seen our new house yet so that will be good. it is their 45th anniversary, crazy.
Ooo Heather a new driveway !! Cool!!
I just signed Mason up for a WeJoySing class at our local recreation center. I hope it will be fun and he'll like it. It's only a 4 week commitment which is about all I can handle these days!!!
Oh, and I'm joining the Biggest Losers board because I simply can't do this on my own. I'm tired of being a fatty but I'm obviously not strong enough to manage to things by myself. Do you want to know what my goal is? I want to feel sexy again and desire to have lots of hot monkey lovin' with my DH and not feel like I need to cover up and be shy about it. Yes, that's my goal - it has nothing to do with weight and everything to do with self image (which can be improved by a healthier weight).
How do ya like them apples?? I'm not messin' around anymore - my love life depends on it.
Beni still nurses a lot. I don't even count. Some days it's more than others... but, I would say AT LEAST 4 times a day, and 2-3 at night. Today actually, she pretty much refused food. I think she's got some teeth super bothering her. It would suck if my period stayed away even longer than I would like it to, but, if nature says so, then, nature says so. I have to trust that my body will know when it can support another pregnancy...I just hope it's sooner than later! I feel like a 12 year old girl again wishing and hoping for my period so badly!
Yay for a good night for Eve! Beni is actually sleeping well tonight so far! Let's hope it's a good night for both of them tonight!
Tonya, I hope you enjoyed your massage. I get mine next Monday!
Aimee- Good luck at your class tonight! Hope it goes by quickly!
Heather, yay for a new driveway! I can actually see being very excited about that! And congrats to your parents! That is a big accomplishment that not many people reach anymore these days. Goodness knows none of my parents will reach such a milestone.
Way to go, Christina! I hope you find a path that works for you with weight loss and feeling good about yourself! I'm all for some hot monkey loving (actually, I'm not sure I know what that looks like... )... and I know what you mean. I would like to feel sexy while having sex too... I don't really right now- thankfully, my prude of a DH likes to do it in the dark.
Thanks Mara. Hot monkey lovin' is whatever you want it to be - whatever makes you and your DH feel hott, happy, steamy, and leaves you satisfied but strangly wanting more. That's how DH and I used to be. I'd like to have that feeling again
How's everyone doing this morning??? Thankfully we're having a nice comfy temperature day today in the upper 70's - sooo nice. Not very sunny but that's ok.
Mason's been having a semi-rough time at day care. He's moved from the infant 1 room to the infant 2 room. He's doing really well except for one thing: he won't nap very long. He's only getting about and hour adn 15 minutes. And that's the only nap he gets!! He's wasted tired by the time 5 pm rolls around and all he does is cry.
I don't know what to do. I feel so bad that as soon as I go get him he's so fussy and tired. I try to hold him or take him for a ride so he can get a 15 minute snoozer in but he just won't. I'm so frustrated with this nap thing.
I keep hoping he'll get used to the new room - he's only been in there for 1 week full time (they transitioned him during the 2 weeks before that slowly).
And last night DSS#1 was up 3 times!!! His last day of school is today so I'm wondering if he's just struggling with the pending change in routine. Whatever the matter is - I'm tired!
Christina the important thing is that you have a goal and a reason.. I am stuck in a rut and i hate it... I know DH is my downfall... he is the worst eater ever! And because he eats so little coices I get sooooo bored and we end up ordering out a ton! I am trying to be better but cooking big things for just me is rough!
And on the nap thing.. I am in the same boat christina.. our issue is there is only 1 room so the kids range right now from 2 months to 16 months... They usually transition at 15 mos but since we end this month they didn't think it was worth it... so it is so off and Avery is napping all over the place.. tuesday she napped for hour and ah alf in the morning (which i am ok with becuse she clearly needed it) but then nothing in the afternoon so at 6:15 she was a mess and ended up in bed at 6:30. I mentioned it to my cousin because she is an assistant director and she says they should have different rooms but not possible here so I am like just make it 3 more weeks and I will fix it over the summer.. in the toddler room they nap at 12ish every day until 2ish depending on the kid.
How exciting a new driveway.. I love the look of newly poured fresh cement like that... god only knows it doesnt last long lol!
So class last night was ok. It seems like it will be semi interesting and not a lot of work. I hate the all day saturdays but we go out and do field work around ponds and lakes so should go by fast. Of course there is one idiot in the class and she was going to let us out at 7:30 (class goes until 8:30) an he kept talking about NOTHING ... like really nothing lol and so we didn't get out until 8:05 and then I had a 50 min ride... UGH We have a real half day today (no meetings etc) because last night was graduation.. so I am excited to go home and hang out with Avery and maybe we will both take a nap haha
Aimee - bummer about the naps - you know what I'm going through - ugh!!
I'm hoping maybe he'll do better in the nap department today but I doubt it.
Have fun with your half day Aimee - enjoy your afternoon napper with Avery!!
Hi everyone! I'm so behind!
Tonya, that is AMAZING about Lucas! What an awesome little boy you have! It always makes me tear up when you talk about how far he has come and the accomplishments he makes. I guess I can relate even though our children have faced entirely different obstacles! Go Lucas!!
Mara, I'd gladly send you my stupid period too. It suuuuuucks. I'd so much rather be like I was with Luke and not have a period until Jake entirely weaned. He nurses all the time still...like I don't think he ever goes more than 4 hours in a 24 hour period. So WHY the AF stewpid body, WHY? I hope you start soon so you can make another beautiful baby!
Christina, good luck with the biggest loser competition! I think you're goal is great lol! I mean that sincerely.
Aimee, glad your class started out OK. I hate when people talk just to hear themselves and delay everyone else! So annoying!
Work has been crazy crazy busy this week. I worked all day and then worked after the kids went to bed until 10pm. So sorry I have been MIA!
I've been so happy the last few days b/c Jake has been actually eating pretty well--at least dinner and lunch. He's had chicken, salmon, rice, LOTS of broccoli, carrots, peas & cauliflower, watermelon, beans, and pasta. YAY for eating!!!! He still won't touch an egg though. Also not interested in cheese or fruit. Weird kid.
OK gotta go pump again. I've decided I won't pump past 18 months. That's long enough, LOL. 4 months to go!!
So exciting about the new driveway! I like the way new driveways look too, but the smell of all the stuff they use gives me a horrible sinus headache.
Aimee, field work at class sounds like fun. We have marine biology classes here that go out into the Gulf. I always thought that would be a fun major.
Meagan, congrats for going this long with pumping! I gave it up a few weeks ago, and it's really nice to be free of that thing. We're still a loooooong way off from Eve weaning, and I'm fine with that.
Christina, best of luck with the Biggest Loser board. It's so very hard not to think negatively about your own body. Once you become comfortable with what you look like, I'm sure the hot monkey sex will follow!
We're sweltering out here. We keep getting record highs and near record highs. No respite in sight--even though there's a chance of rain during the weekend, we're still supposed to have 100 degree heat.
Oh, and it's National Donut Day--Krispy Kreme and Dunkin's are giving away free donuts. I think you have to buy a drink at Dunkin's, but Krispy's is free without purchase--1 per customer.
Ok Suzanne can I say that the whole doughnut thing was just mean, really mean - LOL!!!
Mmmmm, I can just taste one now, fluffy, sweet, (I'm starting to feel like Homer Simpson - a sure sign I need to drop some fattiness).
Hahaha. I kill me sometimes.
Meagan - busy work day means quick passage of time. Not necessarily a bad thing! I wish Mason's food repertoire was that wide!!! For a bigger kid he doesn't really eat that much or that much variety. Great, another picky kid, just what I needed!!! Whatever - he'll eat what he eats and I'll give him some vitamins for the rest. Gawd I'm a slacker!!!
I'm feeling ornery today and I need some physical outlets. It's run around night with karate and gymnastics - ugh. Some days I just hate it. I gotta find a way to work in a walk or something.
The whole sweets thing is part of the reason I'm not losing weight. AF has brought with her a ginormous sweet tooth and overall obsession with snacking this go-around too.
Have you girls seen this (there is a little bit of food in it, but it's not really about eating it)?
How to do things faster
meagan: jake has turned into a great little eater!! i need to get better with giving luke more veggies. its awesome that he will eat such healthy foods
mara: #2 will be on the way before you know it i loved the pics youve posted of beni recently. i love looking at her pics. she is just so cute!
suzanne: i was totally thinking about free donuts all day on Friday!! the DD's around here have this REALLY awesome apple donut that i LOVE!
Christina: hope you AND mason get some better sleep. that must be really frusterating to not be able to control his naps better. Luke takes a 2 hour morning and afternoon nap everyday. i think he'd be a blubbering mess without it.
over on my end.... same old awfulness im afraid  i worked a ton in the last 5 days. im off till Thursday night and very thankful for that. I haven't checked DH phone in about a week. I did today. i probably don't even have to say that nothing has changed. i feel like i married my worst nightmare. He said he would go get a non internet phone this week. that comforts me a bit... but im certainly worried he will just find another outlet. we're getting rid of cable this week too. I will miss tv, but if it helps him it will be worth it. He can still buy magazines. There is a strip club 2 miles from our house. I just feel awful. I don't know if he'd go to a place like that. He seems sad and remorseful and fully aware of the pain is putting me through. Yet, nothing has changed in the last few weeks. Its horrible feeling like i made a mistake marrying him. i dont think i stopped crying yet today. im thankful Luke is too young to know what's going on. i feel awful. I also told him ive been checking his phone. I'm sure he's going to be a lot more careful now.
I have an OB appointment this week. ive lost almost 10 pounds since my last one. Ive been having so many contractions the last three or four days. i don't know if thats more common after the first baby? i had no contractions with Luke till i was in labor. I know dehydration and stress and fatigue can cause them. With Luke i was standing in the OR 10 hours a day, so i certainly was under plenty of physical stress then too. Aside from the emotional stress i dont think anything has changed. i don't know why im having so many contractions. im a little concerned about it.
luke just went down for a nap. i think im gunna go lay down too.
Oh Carolyn, I am so sorry to hear this. I've been thinking a lot about you and your situation. Did you ask DH if he'd be willing to see a counselor? I think he could really benefit from it so he can pinpoint why he feels the need to do those things. You really don't need this stress right now in your pg.
I'm worried that you've lost weight like that. The stress can't be good for you. Having contrax the 2nd time around isn't uncommon for some women - I had a ton with Mason but not with my other two - but given your level of stress with DH you need to be careful.
What else do you think you can do to help this situation with your DH? What else is he willing to do?
No matter what I'm here for you and sending you lots of positive thoughts. Please try to get some rest and drink water and be as healthy as you can be for your new baby.
OH Carolyn, I just want to come and scoop you up! (((HUGS)))
I can not imagine the stress you are under, in addition to the lack of sleep, working and taking care of a toddler AND being pregnant! You have got to take care of yourself and those sweet babies!
It really sounds like it is going to take professional help. I know there is the pride factor, but this is your life you are talking about! YOU deserve to be in a happy, healthy realtionship! Your kids also deserve that!
I am here for you sweetie!
I have been super blue here lately, and I don't like it! Keegan has been super fussy therefore I am exhausted. I want to sell our house so we can move on with out building house plans. AND DH's dads wife (of 4 years) is causing major drama and I don't deal well with that! Gearing towards me! I am the most laid back, people pleaseing person. But just can't give into her and that is she is not healthy for my kids to be around! Huge, long story! Ugh!
It is a pretty day, maybe getting out in it will help!
Hi everyone! Hope the weekends were nice! I was out and about all weekend and so not happy to be back at work today... but hey only 3 more Mondays until my summer vacation! Class was pretty good on Saturday... we got out 2.5 hours early and it was not bad either way! I got the worst sunburn yesterday.. dumb self didn't put sunscreen on and actually wore my baby oil lotion because I did not expect to stay at DH's baseball game.. ooops
Carolyn I am so sorry you are still going through this. I hope that you can figure something out and I hope that you tell your OB all about this stress so they are aware and can help you.
Ugh my class is off the wall today
Carolyn, huge hugs!
Aimee, oh no about the sunburn.
Tara, yikes about your DH's dad's wife. I don't know why people like to start stuff.
My sinuses are still going nuts. I woke up today with no voice and am going to see my ENT doctor to see if there's anything we can do. So far, we haven't been able to figure out how to prevent it from happening. Eve also is still having sinus issues, but they're not too bad.
Wyatt is gearing up for his tumor removal surgery on the 15th. It looks like he's finally getting out from under the effects he's been having from his last round of chemo. This go-around has been tough, and he has had to stay in the hospital due to low levels for weeks now.
