QOTD: Hair

WHat is your hair like now? If you could pull off any hairstyle on earth (pretend thickness or curly or whatever you want but may or may not have) how would you wear your hair?

My hair is a deep auburn color, all-natural. It's curly/wavy but mostly frizzy. It's thick and pretty unruly and medium to long length (goes down past my shoulders). The only way to keep it non-frizzy is to put tons of product in it, and I'm just not into that right now, so I've been pulling it up into a ponytail lately. Sometimes I do a single French braid or two French braids.

I actually like my hair. I just wish I didn't have to use product in it to make it look nice. If frizziness weren't an issue, I'd just wear it down and let my curls roam free.

My hair is just chin length, a very standard brown, I guess- as in, I was a blonde, blonde child and my hair has just gotten darker as I've gotten older- which makes it weird for me to know that I have brown hair, but I do- but lord I was blonde for ages. My hair is totally natural now- I last colored it when Beni was 6 mos old. I have worn it in a bob/no bangs/slight layers since pretty much forever, parted on the left.

I would love to have thicker hair, and the kind that doesn't look stringy and nasty and like it's not even there if I go for more than one day without washing it. I would LOVE to be able to have that sexy just rolled out of bed look. It also seems like women who have hair like this, have very versatile hair- mine is straight, doesn't hold a curl or volume for more than 10 minutes- there is very little I can do with it. That said, I am a wash and go kind of girl, and my hair lets that happen, so, I don't complaint too much.

I just had the crap cut out of mine which prompted this question. Mine is heavy, thick and super straight. It was super long while pregnant, and I had a moment of insanity and cut it at like 32 weeks. Kept it short (just above the shoulder) for a while, then let it grow. Its well below my shoulders now, but I just had the stylist cut about 10 lbs of hair off into this messy tousled layered look. It takes slightly more work, but fixes what felt broken (I felt styleless). I also now pretty much have to wear some sort of hat/headband while running as the top layers are so short they can't be tucked, she left the length, however, so it is below my shoulders. Mine is like Mara's, I was blond forever, and now am brown. I have gone through this cycle of highlighting every spring, then it just keeps going, and between the pool and the beach I look like Sammy Hagar or someone awful (i.e wayyyyyy too blond) come Aug. I went back to my natural color in Sept and plan to keep it that way.

IF I could have any haircut and look great, it would be a boy cut like Michelle Williams (is that who I mean? Heath Ledgers x?). I had my hair like that for a few years and L.O.V.E/D it, but I'm older now and scared of looking like a soccer mom Smile

I got distracted when I was writing and also meant to say that I have always wanted to shave my head just once, but DH would KILL me, and I would love to be able to pull off a pixie cut of some sort, but I don't think I'm suited to it at all. That said, my mom wears her hair very short now, and it looks good on her, but, she weighs like 50 less than me now... maybe someday...

Mara I shaved mine once (to rid myself of dreads) ~ very liberating. But VERY cold. Only do it in the summer, for sure.

My hair is thick and curly--you can kind of see it in my avatar. Right now it's a lot longer than that though, almost to the middle of my back! That has happened just out of an inability to keep a hair appointment in recent months and my hair grows really fast. It's long layered though so I don't mind. It is getting a little ridiculously long at this point though LOL.

I don't mind it so much, but like Suzanne said I hate having to use product and it can be SO unpredictable. Sometimes no matter what I do it's frizz central around here. So those are the days when envy people with thick, straight, sleek hair. Smile Otherwise I don't mind the curls so much. Smile

My hair is long, think and wavy/curly. It's auburn which I like but I wish it were a little more vibrant like it was when I was younger. I've dyed it a few times. Once I dyed it a dark auburn/brown. It was fun to try something new. When I was younger, my hair was really curly and I longed for straight hair. Everyone kept telling me I had great hair and they'd love to have it but I just wanted straight silky hair. I wanted to be able to just get out of bed, brush it and go. Not something I could do with curly hair or I ended up looking like Carrot Top! I did get voted best hair my senior year though Wink Now, I like my hair for the most part. I can straighten it or go natural.

My hair is blonde, dead silky straight and nearly to my waist, all one length and parted in the middle. I tried layers about a year ago but because my hair is so straight it doesn't work. I wish I had my 'air in my hair' lol I have thin hair but lots of it. My natural colour would be brown for sure (was very blonde as a child, just got darker) and I told DH once I get down to my goal weight, I'm going dark! I love having straight hair though.

My hair is very dark brown and thin and was super duper curly and frizzy as a child. I hated it with a passion growing up and would almost always blow out the curls.

One of the few things that looks better on my body after the pregnancies is my hair. It lost a LOT of its curl, to the point where it's more wavy than curly now if I let it dry natural. I used to keep it really long almost to my waist, but it's been thinning and the flat look around my face was no longer flattering. So I cut it short to my shoulders and got layers near the front so that it would have some volume around my face and it looks so much better. Now I like it both when I blow it out and when I wear it naturally. I just wish I had a lot more hair! And the other thing I've always loved is red hair, but I can't pull it off with my skin tone. I do want to dye it some kind of auburn some day but I am afraid the dye would either make more of it come out or would change the texture back to very curly (the way highlights did 8 years ago).
