So...

...with mostly everyone aware that Aaron is a long way from walking, I am just curious, are all the Moonbeams walking now? Still cruising, mainly crawling? This not walking thing (or not even cruising thing!) by now is new to me as my DD#1 was walking at 11 months and DD#2 was 13 months. I know Aaron has a reason for his delay and I am accepting that (he'll eventually walk! lol), I think with winter here what annoys me is he is ruining his long pants, mainly inside too! I feel sorry for his little knees too (yes he does the knee walking still, actually he does that more than crawl).

Luke is a walking machine. it just happened all of a sudden.

The pediatric orthopedist i worked for said anything from 9-15 mos is "normal." If he can walk on his knees i bet he will be "real walking" in a month. Does he have an activity walker? we got one for Luke and he literally started walking on his own 2 days later.

Austin started walking overnight. One day he was cruising the next he was walking.

Gloria is a walking machine and very independent. I expected this thread to be an announcement.

Me too!
Nico is also a walking machine, it happened almost overnight, once he decided he was ready he just took off.

Kayley is quite close but not yet walking. She cruises and stands up without holding on to anything but no walking.

Yup Aaron has a walker but he's not too fond of it but he'll go in there in small doses. Yeah the doc said as he is knee walking he does have the strength in his trunk and hips, which is what will help him to walk...he is 14 months tomorrow and though he does pull up there's no crusing at all (because he wont put his feet down flat, hard to get the right balance I guess)...he may surprise me and it'll happen overnight! Mason isn't close to walking either. He can cruise but if I try to hold his hands so he can walk it's very awkward. He won't even attempt a step on his own.

He'll be 13 months tomorrow and frankly if he doesn't show signs of improving his leg coordination I'll be having a talk with his ped when I take him back for his ear check in a few weeks.

I know that up to 15 months is "normal" so maybe I should just wait longer. But his walking movements just feel "off" to me somehow.

Sorry about Aaron's pants. Have you thought about getting him some knee pads? I bought some for my DS#1 but he used them for like only 4 weeks because he was walking by 9 1/2 months. They were great for those 4 weeks though!

36 hours ago I would have said nada here. But after months of cruising and only one month of crawling Fiona took her first unassisted steps yesterday afternoon. By this evening she was going 10 or more steps at a time, even pausing in between. It happened quite fast.

Funny, too cause she's barely 17lbs and still in a size 2 shoe. I swear her feet haven't grown since she was born. Lol

Christina, if you're worried I would get him checked out, wouldn't hurt! I was going to cancel Aarons appointment because he just started to pull up but because of his feet not being flat I kept the appointment and just as well as he wants to see him again in 3 months and by then he should be walking or at least progressing...and that's what the doc said too, if they're progressing then it's normally OK (even if it's a bit slower than 'normal').

Jordan, way to go Fiona!! Now wait until you get "Oh she's so little should she be walking?" I got that so much with Aleisha...I looked at her 15 month stats and she was 8.1kg (dressed) and 72cm and she was also a size 2 shoe Smile

This is a tuffy for me. Deegan is one of the oldest moonbeams, hes still not walking and will be 15 months in 2 weeks. I know he was a preemie and still in the "normal" age range. Also I guess I shouldnt be surprised since he does everything late! He didnt crawl till 10 months and didnt get his first tooth till he was 14 months! He cruses over everything and uses his hand held walker. He will walk holding just 1 of my fingers but hes really wobbly and tries to walk sideways?!? He can stand on his own but is still scared to. You cant just stand him up in a middle of the room, he will refuse. Pretty much he only stands on his own when he lets go of something and doesnt realize it. As soon as he realizes hes not holding onto anything he will sit down. It just hard to see the months go by and hes still no where close to walking. Sad

Michelle, this was Fiona to a T! Right down to the walking sideways if she held one finger thing. And literally, one afternoon she triggered some kind of notion to take a few steps. at 15 months, I too wouldn't be worried yet. He really might just decide to do it tomorrow! Does he see any specialists still for any preemie stuff? Maybe they have an opinion on how you could encourage it?

Than isn't walking on his own. He'll crawl, cruise, and climb, but won't walk. He loves to stand and walk while holding (both) hands, though, so I'm not concerned. And besides, when one crawls as well as does, who needs to walk? lol
