Is there a book you loved from childhood that you hope your children will love too?
Love you Forever by Robert Munsch was one of my favorites from my childhood. It was published in 1986, and my mom read it to me from the time I was 4-6 years old. I have it for my girls and read it to them as well. Here's the cover art.
i know this is probably horrible, but we didn't read books like this as children. we played games as a family and were almost always outside. by the end of the day, we three were so exhausted that we all crashed without needing a story. DH has oodles of books to read to the baby and my MIL worked with elementary school children, so she's already started a library for this little girl (many of the books are from our niece who has outgrown them; she's being a generous cousin and sharing). DH has already been reading his native american legends to the baby so that she will be used to the sound of them. the legends have a certain cadence to them that is both mesmerizing and soothing. i love the idea of reading stories to this baby since i'm such an avid reader now.
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein...I love that book!! Our little guy already has quite the library as the school I work at does a monthly Scholastic Book club fundraiser (which I'm actually in charge of, lol) so I always make sure to buy him a few new books each month.
I do not think I can pick one specific book I loved most - I hope she likes ALL books. But, we are having all baby shower guests bring their favorite childhood book to start our daughter's library (in lieu of a card). I cannot wait to get all of these books for her!
Definitely the Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings books! Also, The Bridge to Tarabithia and the Wrinkle in Time series. I also loved the Little Woman series and Little House on the Prairie. And OF COURSE Harry Potter!
I don't really remember reading one book, but I remember reading a lot of books.
DD LOVES to read and I hope this LO will too
