Default Aggravated with my "on call" person

DH and I live a minimum of a 14 hour drive from any family, and only a few of our friends have or really knows how to care for little kids. One of our closest friends has no kids, but knows DD really well and has recently learned how to pick her up fom day care, use the car seat, do the basics of bedtime, etc in order to be "on call" for us in case new baby comes before my parents do at the end of next week (38 weeks). (DD was born at 37 wks, 6 days).

Well, tonight, while talking with other friends we come to find out our "on call" friend is leaving town this Friday morning to return Monday night and she hasn't told us (I'll be 37 weeks on Friday)!! And I talked to her earlier today! Clearly, she doesn't get it. Now, I'm scrambling to find back-up because the last thing I need to be dealing with during labor is figuring out who can care for DD. Hopefully, no baby this early, but it's possible.

Ugh, how annoying! Hopefully you won't go into labor any time soon. Pfff... And I was nervous because our parents are 1.5-2 hours away, hahaha. Not really a big deal. Last time, I went to my OB appointment and he sent me right over to the hospital to be induced. We weren't really expecting it, so we didn't have anyone around. I went to the hospital by myself and got started for like 2 hours until my mom got here to watch DS1, hahah. All the nurses at the hospital were acting all concerned for me, like "OMG, are you going to be here all alone for this?" LOL... But really, nothing exciting happened in that two hours, because my cervix was totally closed and they had to use this bulb thing to get it started before they even really cranked up the pitocin. I was barely contracting by the time my DH got there.

14 hours is a different story, though... Yikes!!

    *lurk*
That is super aggravating! I can't believe she didn't even mention it to you.

I don't even have an "on call" person. I have absolutely no idea what I would do if I went in to labour early, or even on time! My mom won't be here until 8 days past my due date (I usually go at least 10 days past, so I'm not TOO worried). Maybe I should get on that......LOL.

Oh man, how irritating! Have you confirmed it with her? Perhaps that other person had the dates wrong. If she IS leaving, I'd be upset too!!!

If she doesn't have kids, perhaps she doesn't 'get' it?
