I've seen a few posts on other BBs about this. So if you have worn your children.. what have you used? I really want a wrap and an Ergo.. Do the Ergos work well with newborns?
I have a Mei Tei but I used it with DS when he was about 6-7 months. Well, I guess I have it.. I've got to look for it LOL
I have tried a few. Bought a moby with DS2 but we both hated it. Hard to get on unless you plan on wearing it all day or you get really good at it. You can buy an infant insert with an ergo so you can use it with a newborn. I personally like something you can put on easily and go like the ring sling or a front pack carrier. I have a few but didn't use them that much. I may have to this time since I will have a 1 year old running around. Interested to hear what other people like.
I have the Moby for when they are little....once you use it a couple of times, it's not that hard. And I have the Beco. It came with an infant insert, but when I used it at 2ish months or so with DD, I didn't need the insert. She was a big baby though. I really liked babywearing, b/c it kept my hands free to help out DS and it was easier to go the the playground etc.
I have a moby and loved it for the first year. If I can wear a baby with a feeding tube and connected to a heart monitor, anyone can master it! I love how the baby is so close and tight against you.
I also have a Action Baby Carrier (ABC). It is like a mei tei, but with buckles. It is fairly easy to put on, but I wouldn't use it with a newborn.
My neighbor has an Ergo and I tried it on. It is similar to the ABC, but I thought it was a little more comfortable. She has the newborn insert and used it for the last 7 months with her DS.
Awesome! I would love something I can put baby in :) Hopefully I can find something that will be easy and comfortable for us both!
I don't see many people wearing baby here in South GA either so when I wore my DS I got lots of looks but it's ok, I didn't mind lol
Heeeey, I'm coming to Atlanta (on my way to Myrtle Beach) in March!!!

I'm like 4 hours from Atlanta, closer to FL for sure. I can't wait for the beach but baby will probably have to wait til next year to make it there LOL Unless we go in September.

I think babywearing is coming around again. 4 years ago when I wore DS1 people kind of looked like what's in there?? lol But now, people look and say oh thats a good idea or how cute!
I think it's very awesome when I see a mom wearing their baby! I love the bonding you get plus the convenience of it too :)
OMG - LOVE this topic. I love, love, love the extra cuddles I get when I wear my LO.
So, here's my synopsis:
Slings - Don't like 'em, but I've never liked anything that is made to be worn on one side of the body, like messenger bags. They make me feel like my spine is going crooked, and I just don't like it. That said, other people love them.
Now, on to the ones I *love*:
Moby wrap - Freaking LOVE the crap out of this thing. Here's why: Once you learn to put it on and get comfortable with it, it's quick and easy. My DS2 was little in the winter and spring when it was colder outside. So I didn't want to waste time adjusting a carrier and getting him in it when we were out somewhere, but of course, I can't drive with him in the carrier on my chest (lol). So.. I would tie on the carrier the way I liked it before we left the house. The fabric is soft and flexible, so it was easy for me to drive with it on, even with my seat-belt on. Then when we got to our destination, I could get him out of his car seat and plop him directly into the carrier because it was already ready for him. It was quick and easy, and we could keep each other warm. :) I found it most useful from 0-6 or maybe 0-8 months.
Mei tei (Babyhawk brand) - Loved this one also, and although it was less flexible, I still often tied it on before driving to make it quick and easy to get him in it when we got to our destination (my time-saving trick, haha). It would just require a little tightening after he was in and we were good to go. I used it some when he was a newborn, but I liked the moby better for a newborn. I found the mei tei best after he could support his own head/neck. My DH actually wore the babyhawk sometimes! I liked it best from 3-9 months.
Ergo - Another LOVE. I didn't have the separate newborn insert, so I didn't use it till he was older and had head/neck control. It is bigger and more supportive than my other carriers, so I found it better for when he was bigger, 6-12 months+. It was great for long trips to the zoo.
Can't wait to do it again!!
