Birth Plan

I think we had a thread about this and I said I would just go with the flow, but after talking to my doctor last week I realized that I have more options than I thought and a birth plan would be a good idea in case another doctor delivers me. And I obviously have not had a good time with the other doctors so I need to be prepared. Does anyone use a template or anything off the internet or do you just type up one personal to you?

Last time I googled a template to help me think of what things I might want on it. this time, I used my old one, but just took off the "extras," only leaving the items I felt to be MOST important.

I didn't think to see if I still had Jack's birth plan saved. But sure enough I did! So I just changed some things and voila! Ok, I will check that off my list! Biggrin

Wonderful! Only thing I love more than making lists is checking things off of them!

earthmamababyangel.com has a good one - asks lots of questions to get you thinking. Then once you make it, make sure to pick out the top things that are most important to you, and have it fill only 1 page - or else NO ONE is reading it!

I did one on the earth mama angel baby website, finished it and then it crashed on me. Booo. So then I just decided that since I've never given birth before, I'm not sure how I want the lights, temperatures and sounds. So I made a short one of my own that was half a page long and easy to read. I read that nurses are more likely to stick to your wishes if you keep it short and sweet.

Mine is about 1 1/2 pages. But there is a short note that summarizes at the top and then the rest is bulleted for easy reading. It was 4 pages originally so I cut a lot out. But what is left, I felt was essential.
