Posted this on FB but what do you think about diaper bags.. Match gender or not? After all it is mommy carrying the bag. I fell in love with a couple diaper bags that had some pink in it. My favorite was black and vines of flowers with green, white, orange, blue and pink. But it was lined in pink on the inside and pink changing pad. The one I ended up getting is brown and has owls of many colors including pink. It's line with green and the changing pad is green. It was my second fave and I almost wish I would've gotten my first choice :/ opinions??
Erm.. since I'm having a girl, matching the gender AND me was no issue. However, I probably would have gotten a "boy" bag if I were having a boy.. even though the mom is carrying it.
Can I just say that - I can't imagine expecting a boy and asking DH to hold my girly diaper bag? LMAO He's such a manly man, he'd be all like... just...I.. um..just give me the baby!
We have a girly diaper bag for DD. I chose what I liked because I'm the one carrying it all the time. DH has NO problems taking it out because he says "my baby is a girl and this is her bag". I'm not sure what he'll think about it if we have a boy....
Honestly though, how often do the guys really carry the bag? I'd get something you like! This is what we have and DH carries it!
Personally, I think of it as "mom's new purse" not really a diaper bag. .because you don't usually carry both. As long as your child has on it's respective colors to help identify gender while gender is not yet identifiable, go for whatever you want!!
I've always picked blues and ones that are less girly since I have all boys, but I do *LOVE* some of the pretty pinks, purples, etc. and I've asked myself the same question before. Same with baby-wearing. They have SUCH cute prints in feminine colors, and I figure... I'm the one wearing it, it should be colors I like. BUT. I don't want to deal with confused strangers who think the baby is a girl, so I buy boyish ones or at least gender-neutral.

I say get what you like, but not too flashy in case DH has to take the baby somewhere. Although my DH couldn't care less. He carries my purse a lot of times with no problem.
I don't think it matters if its pink or blue as long as you like it. I do think people determine if you have a boy or girl by your diaper bag or blankets though since there is no other way to tell and it's really annoying when they guess and get it wrong, lol
I actually have never bought a diaper bag. They always give me a Vera Bradley diaper bag in the hospital and let me choose which one I want, so I normally use that or nothing at all. I have such big purses that I can normally stuff the things baby needs in my bag and I notice I never really change my kids out in public unless we are on a trip.
