Diaper bags!

Posted this on FB but what do you think about diaper bags.. Match gender or not? After all it is mommy carrying the bag. I fell in love with a couple diaper bags that had some pink in it. My favorite was black and vines of flowers with green, white, orange, blue and pink. But it was lined in pink on the inside and pink changing pad. The one I ended up getting is brown and has owls of many colors including pink. It's line with green and the changing pad is green. It was my second fave and I almost wish I would've gotten my first choice :/ opinions??

Erm.. since I'm having a girl, matching the gender AND me was no issue. However, I probably would have gotten a "boy" bag if I were having a boy.. even though the mom is carrying it.

Can I just say that - I can't imagine expecting a boy and asking DH to hold my girly diaper bag? LMAO He's such a manly man, he'd be all like... just...I.. um..just give me the baby!

Lol I'm all worried about it so I told my hubby if he thought it was too girlie and he said "No, it's just a diaper bag!" Needless to say I doubt he'd mind holding mine even if it were girlie. He's not the type to worry about what others think.

We have a girly diaper bag for DD. I chose what I liked because I'm the one carrying it all the time. DH has NO problems taking it out because he says "my baby is a girl and this is her bag". I'm not sure what he'll think about it if we have a boy....

Honestly though, how often do the guys really carry the bag? I'd get something you like! This is what we have and DH carries it! Smile

Personally, I think of it as "mom's new purse" not really a diaper bag. .because you don't usually carry both. As long as your child has on it's respective colors to help identify gender while gender is not yet identifiable, go for whatever you want!! Biggrin

I've always picked blues and ones that are less girly since I have all boys, but I do *LOVE* some of the pretty pinks, purples, etc. and I've asked myself the same question before. Same with baby-wearing. They have SUCH cute prints in feminine colors, and I figure... I'm the one wearing it, it should be colors I like. BUT. I don't want to deal with confused strangers who think the baby is a girl, so I buy boyish ones or at least gender-neutral.

OMG Heather. I am liking you more and more with every post! Ha Ha! I want a Boxy backpack! I fell in love with them with DS, but couldn't convince DH to drop the dough. We will see this time Acute

I say get what you like, but not too flashy in case DH has to take the baby somewhere. Although my DH couldn't care less. He carries my purse a lot of times with no problem.

Im getting a black one. One, because DH says he won't carry anything girly...and two, because I just like black, it goes with everything, even a cocktail dress.

I don't think it matters if its pink or blue as long as you like it. I do think people determine if you have a boy or girl by your diaper bag or blankets though since there is no other way to tell and it's really annoying when they guess and get it wrong, lol
I actually have never bought a diaper bag. They always give me a Vera Bradley diaper bag in the hospital and let me choose which one I want, so I normally use that or nothing at all. I have such big purses that I can normally stuff the things baby needs in my bag and I notice I never really change my kids out in public unless we are on a trip.

The Boxy Backpack is AWESOME. We cloth diaper so we needed something a bit bigger to carry all that stuff. Also, I'm a 'must be prepared' type mom so I always have a spare outfit in there and snacks and blankets. LOL. Apparently they come up on eBay for good prices, so maybe watch there? Be careful though because some of the fabrics aren't as durable as others. Mine is the glazed one and it seriously looks brand new still after 2+ years of daily use!

I told DH I could get a black one (smaller one) for him on the go bc I usually am with him anyway but he said he didn't care.. either way, I'm going to get one bc I'll need one for small errands, etc. I'll try and find a picture of the one I found so you all can check it out.

Heather, that's a super cute bag Smile

So haven't thought that far ahead Smile With the boys I got gender neutral/black ones from the hospital and ended up using that mostly. I have a big pocketbook I can stuff with diapers etc... it's been a while though since I was packing up baby stuff to go out - not sure I'm remembering how much stuff a little baby needs, so it may change once I am reminded of that lol Smile

I have the Skip Hop Studio diaper bag in all black: Skip Hop : Studio diaper tote

I got it before DD was born and have only ever used the one diaper bag and I don't plan on getting a new one with #2. I like that it looks more grown up and purse-like since, as you pointed out, I am the one carrying it. After nearly 2 years of constant use it looks practically new. I love it and hope it lasts until a diaper bag is no longer needed!

All of my available bags are girly so if this one is a boy, oh well! DH occasionally complains about my feminine diaper bag but yeah, he really doesn't carry it all that much - he's usually the one lugging the car seat around.
I did buy a purple and black backpack that was free after a rebate at an office store and I think I might use that this time around because it's much easier to tote around a backpack. But yeah, definitely girly!

I'm the type of person that carries my life around in my purse so I found it too much to be carrying a purse and diaper bag. Instead I just bought a slightly larger purse and added DS's stuff to it. My SO had a nike sports bag that he keeps water bottles in and stuff so he used that as a diaper bag too. I try to limit the number of stuff I have to carry since I will likely keep LO in a carrier, one bag is more than enough.

Lara, I have thought about it too bc I do have a LARGE green purse that I love that can be used as a diaper bag also!

I went ahead and bought this: Amazon.com: Skip Hop Versa Diaper Bag, Black: Baby

I'm returning the owls one I purchased at JcPenny the other day!

I like that one Nidia! I like that it doesn't have the look of a diaperr bag but probably has all the pockets of a diaper bag. And it can be hooked on a stroller! Good choice!
I am still waiting to see what diaper bag I get in the hospital since they will give me a choice of colors depending on boy or girl!

My diaper bag got bought off of my registry! Woot! It's black and hot pink with a zebra on it. Not a big zebra fan, but all the colors looked cool together LOL

Nidia, that looks really similar to the one I have; I hope you love it as much as I love mine!
