Earrings to bed

Ive started wearing my earrings to bed just in case things start up in the middle of the night...so I'll have earrings in any pictures. Why is this even something I'm thinking about?

Lol. I've thought about that! Other than with making sure I get up in time to shower and blow dry/do my hair. I can't wear makeup for the surgery of jewelry. But I'm taking some as well as makeup to put on after Blum 3

It may be a silly thing to think about, but if it gives you more confidence then why not. Aren't there women that hire like makeup artists to come in and touch up their makeup ever so often during labor... lol that seems far sillier to me, but to each their own I suppose.

I don't have pierced ears and I only wear a necklace, but I got my hair cut the other day and have been playing with how I want to wear it during the birth, lol. I completely understand where you are coming from Biggrin

This is funny! I have not thought about jewelry but I have earrings in all the time. I have made sure I got my hair trimmed, eyebrows waxed. I also have been thinking about how I will wear my hair for birth because last time it was all over the place.

Right? The pictures from that completely unpredictable day/time will be around fooooreeeever so, I better at least try to look decent! Last time my water broke at work so my hair was fixed, had earrings in, and make up on. If it happened right now, I'd be in my pjs without having run so much as a comb through my hair... I'd have to clean myself up a bit before I went in!

:lurk:

Someone I know had her sister come into the hospital when she was in labor...in the middle of the night I might add...to curl her hair and do her makeup for her so she'd look good in her pictures. Personally, I think she looks out of place like the dropped her in for a photo opp after the baby was born. It just looks strange (and I feel like a bit conceited, but JMHO). Don't get me wrong, I'd rather not look like death but if you look too good, your kids won't feel bad about you having to go through labor/delivery for them when they're older looking at pictures Wink (kidding!)

Earrings though...totally acceptable!! Even a little makeup and/or quickly trying to make your hair look decent before you head in are good in my book.

Ha ha ha ha, I won't have to worry about looking too good. I don't wear any make-up, so my hair is the only thing I have to make sure isn't standing on end, lol.

I'm just doing my makeup probably the second day I'm there so I don't scare my visitors haha! That and I'll feel more myself. I'm sure I'll look crappy during surgery and after. Oh well.. part of life!

Ashley, wow. That's a little much lol but I'm sure lots of people do that. I bet actresses do.

:lurk: I was all red and splotchy in my pics when I had dd., I don't feel like I will do anything different this time either, tho my hair WILL be up in a ponytail again because it bugs me when it's on my neck and face. I redid my ponytail with dd so many times lol, never worried abt bruising it once hard labor hit tho that's for sure.

LOL... I always want to look good in my post-birth pics, and I think I'll do something to make it happen, but it never works out that way. This time, I got up at 6am, worked most of my work shift before leaving a little early to go to my OB appointment where I found out I was being induced on the spot. No time to get myself looking good, lol...

ETA: And with the way I give birth, I'd probably end up ripping my earrings out. I accidentally ripped my IV out when pushing with DS1 and ended up losing a lot of blood because it was an induction and I was no longer getting pitocin to cause contractions. So they were giving me shots of pitocin and methergine in my thighs to get me to stop bleeding. Good times.

LOL, after my c-section with DD I looked like death. DH posted a pic of me and DD on facebook and I was horrified when I saw it days later. People said how good I looked. What a bunch of big fat liars. Blum 3

I always wear earrings to bed because I'm one of those people that puts diamond studs in and wears them for MONTHS on end.

Ashley, I loved your story about the photo shoot photos. Those must have been funny. All I can think of is those glamour shot pics that Ellen posts. Blum 3

LOL... Ashley, that reminds me of a girl who went to my elementary/HS. She always wears a TON of black eyeliner... I'm talking like a tube a day of liquid black liner, way out into a point well past the outer corners of her eyes. And her birth photos were no exception, hahaha.

Mary, you looked great! I love that pic your DH took Smile Oh and I just noticed how much bigger your first born was than your other two! Wow!

Heather, I have double piercings and the top I always have studs Blum 3 I have to remove them for surgery though.. grr. I feel naked without them haha.

HAHAHA. I love this thread. I have never thought about all that.. but it totally makes sense. I rarely wear makeup so I am not worried about that when my time comes.... I look pretty rough in Riley's photos.. and obviously look miserable in Kamdyns. I may get a hair cut.. but I doubt it.. My hair will probably go up in a pony.. it's like that almost daily anyway.

I have 6 piercings yet none of the holes have anything in them right now. Maybe I should change that. Biggrin

I always just wear studs unless I'm going out somewhere special so I'm sticking with them! I did just paint my toenails though because I was thinking about whoever might get stuck holding my foot!
With DS I screamed so loud I popped all the blood vessels in my face so I had little red lines everywhere on my face, make up would just be a lost cause. I really dont want any pics of myself though, just of baby is fine!
