Had a flu shot yesterday morning. My arm still REALLY hurts and I'm feeling kinda crummy :( I know these are the mild version of the flu side effects you usually get from the shot, but wondering how long they'll last for. Really not loving this on top of everything else :eyeroll:
I don't do the flu shots because they MAKE me sick! :( Symptoms usually only last 3-5 days but that's a long time to not feel good, especially when you're pregnant!

My OB was actually pretty insistent that it's important to have the flu shot when preggo. Usually I don't get it because of this! Just took some Tylenol and hoping will wake up feeling a little better tomorrow...Quote:

My nurse at work thinks that I will be asked to get it early.... Im still debating.
The recommendation is for women to get the flu shot during pregnancy, on the basis that getting the flu would be potentially more harmful to the baby than the shot itself. The crappy feeling usually only lasts 24-48 hours. Hope you feel better soon.
I don't normally get the flu shot, but I did the winter I was pg with DD. The H1N1 was going around that winter and a little girl in town here died of it. I was way to scared of dying...so I got both shots.
I have no choice, I have to get it in order to work. I work with a vulnerable population so they don't want me infecting them, plus I often have to work during a flu outbreak so I need to be protected. I'm going to try and wait until the second trimester when I'm feeling a little better. They say it's important to get the shot while pregnant so that when LO is born they will already be protected. I don't think we have to worry as much though considering our LO's will be born in spring!

I don't usually get it, maybe once in the last ten years, because they were giving it free at work. The last hospital I worked at made it mandatory this flu season. That did has some effect in the decision I made to leave, forcing someone to be vaccinated for the flu is slightly silly since they aren't 100% sure it will work. I did get full on flu when I last got the vaccine, for nearly two weeks, it was bad.
