Free Breast Pump
So on another unnamed website's BB, the ladies were talking about how now that Obama care is starting to take over, insurance companies pay for breast pumps. Some ladies on there already have them. Anyone heard of this? I am definitely going to call my insurance company and ask. That would be so cool! Especially since it is one of the only things on our(my) shopping list.

When we enrolled, the overview said they covered "breast feeding supplies", it is supposed to be a reimbursement. I would imagine that covering a breast pump.

WOW! That's so cool! We don't even get free breast pumps...and they are EXPENSIVE!

But do you have to be part of the cafeteria plan (pre-tax savings plan) or can I literally claim it against my insurance?

I was told that all insurance companies are required to cover it according to the affordable care act. But how they cover it differs and what kind they cover differs. Some of the ladies were saying they had BCBS and they got a Medela Pump in Style. I hope that is true cause that is what ours is. But, DH's company re-enrolls in January so that is when it goes into effect. It started just this past August, but you will have to call your insurance company and find out when and what is covered. Some have a reimbursement and some have that you go through their providers.

Breast Pumps were covered by most insurance as a Durable Medical Goods before, it differed depending on what kind of insurance you had.
