The levels vary from person to person, what the doc really looks for in a multiple draw situation is doubling, and that the growth rate is on track....
OR if it is ridiculously high, they may think it is twins....
OOOO IS IT TWINS???
She asked me if I was sure of my dates as the level is indicative of an 8-9 week pregnancy.... and I said that with the situation as it is.. all the OPK testing.. temping.. charting.. etc that I have done, there's NO way it could be any other way than what I say it is. DH and I didn't start BDing until we were married and that was just in June.. According to FF, I was 3 days past my O date when we got married so we missed June. It was the July cycle that we caught the eggie (LMP 7/29).. I think I'm saying that right? So really only one opportunity and it happened. So I know my dates are right.
She said that because multiples are confirmed on both mine and DH's sides of the families, she can't say it's probable without a scan.. but says it's very possible.
I've done some reading and an extremely high HCG can also be a bad thing. Something about a mole pregnancy? I didn't get to far into that article.. just thought it best to stay off the internet until the scan tomorrow. lol.. Well, except here, of course. lol..
I'm so nervous either way.. What ever is in there, I just want it happy and healthy!
Everyone varies. I've had some friends who had super high early hcg levels and were thinking it was twins or a molar pregnancy or ectopic or something and they went in for their appointment and everything was fine. I think they can vary big time from person to person and pregnancy to pregnancy. I think that more than likely everything is fine. I'm sure a scan will help you feel better though. Could be that baby is just growing really well. Good luck sweetheart! I hope everything goes great at your appt.
I've never been lucky enough to get mine done my office doesn't do an hcg level unless something is really messed up and you're too early for a scan (they will scan you at 5 wks though). So no personal experience. Though I have read exhaustively on the subject of pg and seen many girls on here get levels. I really do think that levels vary greatly between women and pregnancies. Molar pgs are really pretty rare plus you tend to have spotting a lot and other indicators. Twins would be cool!! GL!!
From what I've learned when my HCG levels started to be tested is that HCG levels VARY GREATLY!!! There are many woman that have extremely high HCG and have just one baby. High HCG can mean twins though as well! It's so confusing!
Thanks for the feedback, ladies! I'm at peace with whatever today's appt brings. I just know - as I'm sure you all do too - all DH and I want is a happy and healthy family.
I'll update as soon as I can with the appt results!
Oooooo good luck!!!!
