    Default Heartburn.. GRRRRRRRR!!

This is awful! How do you all deal with it, if you have it? I took a tums at about 9:30 and it went away instantly.. well, it's back. Maybe I need to get my doctor to prescribe something? Doesn't seem like it'll get better..

...how do I deal with heartburn? WELL - I take Zantac (safe during pregnancy) and I eat Tums by the bottle. Does it help? Not always. Have I been up in the middle of the night in pain? Quite a few times. I also drink milk, but for some people that makes it worse. Generally I go to bed around 9ish. I'm up again at 1030 to pee, up again right before 12 to pee (and eat Tums) up again around 130 to pee and up again around 3 to pee (and eat Tums). *eyeroll*

I had heartburn BEFORE I got pregnant, but if I stayed on Prilosec it pretty much stayed away. However, Prilosec is expensive and I had to stop taking it... hence the Zantac and Tums. (Well, I get generic, but you get my point.)

Lol, Jessica you are so funny. I could see you rolling your eyes when I was reading that. So I may need to buy me some Zantac. I get instant relief when I take tums for maybe an hour or so but then I'm scared of taking too many. I hardly ever take medication for anything, I'm weird like that. So anything during pregnancy is a big no no LOL Unless I "have" to.

Zantac 150. That's all that works for me!

I suffer through or take TUMS. It hasn't been bad enough for me that I felt like something stronger was required. That said, I had it Saturday and Sunday nights after dinner and it was such a major PITA. I felt so gross and was glad to go to bed to get some relief. It's an unfortunate part of pregnancy. Counting down the days to 'normal'.

Nidia - I've always been a pill popper. NOT anything illegal!! But if I have a headache, I take Motrin. Or heartburn is Zantac. Or whatever. When I got pregnant, I had to stop Motrin and start Tylenol (which doesn't work as well for me) and I had to drop a few of my asthma meds because they aren't safe. When I get sick with a cold, I take Nyquil...and I haven't been able to do that. So, this pregnancy I have definitely hounded my doc and MW about what is safe to take LOL.

And yes, there are two Zantacs... there's 75 and 150...obviously the 150 is stronger. I'm actually on a prescription for Zantac 300 (which is also generic). When I run out, I take two of the 150's. And I read that you can take Tums every 30 mins as needed, as long as you don't exceed 10. I only take 2 at a time at night time - and I generally rely on Zantac throughout the day.
