HPTs..

Ok so I've seen a number of mentions about blue dye.. pink dye.. FRER.. etc.

Is one dye better than another? Is FRER a blanket term to the "5 days sooner" type tests or is it a brand? I bought the Clear Blue Easy (I think?) brand and so far have gotten BFN.. it's blue dye and a "5 days sooner" type. Should I try this FRER?

Just looking to understand terminology a little better. Biggrin

ETA - When people mention the HPTs and that they took it with a "4 hour hold", what does that mean? That they held their tinkle for 4 hours? What difference does that make?

They say the blue dye are more likely to give false positive, FRER is Fist Response Early Result (is a brand right?)

and you are right about the 4 hour hold, it builds up the HCG levels, and if you hold it overnight you will have an even higher concentration of HCG and more likely to show positive, if you are pregnant that is.

with regards to blue dye tests, they are notorious for false positives (I have personally had two of them), however I have noticed now on the blue dye tests I have used (DH has bought them) they now say that if the line is not as thick as the control line then it is negative

They seriously say that?! Why not just create a product that doesn't leave everything to guesswork. My irritation lies in that not everyone probably reads the directions.

Definitely! The only reason I even read it as I was trying to to obsess while waiting for lines to show/not show up! Personally I want a little pop-up from my belly button that tells me 10 minutes after implantation that I am pregnant! Whoever can make that happen will be a millionaire in seconds Biggrin

:comfort: I'm so sorry a out your false pos. Yeah, if they can't get it right, take the product off the market. How misleading!!
