Nursing Tops/bras

So I am thinking of splurging on nursing clothes this time! I have bought a few nursing tanks in the past but really didn't like them and I hate nursing bras, they just don't fit me right. I like to buy front closure bras which work well for nursing. I see motherhood maternity has buy 3 tops gets the 4th free which is still pretty expensive but was wondering if any of you ladies have tried any? Some look pretty comfy and loose in the belly area which is good for post-partum bellies.

Here's what I am looking at

Have you tried the target nursing tanks? I remember quite liking those.

I was going to ask what u all wear for nursing bras cause all the ones I've seen look hideous, ancient or granny like with thick straps. Last time I just bought regular bras from la Senza that undo in front & used them too. A friend of mine also recommended the nursing tanks from Target, only one more week till they open in Canada!
I haven't bought any from maternity stores cause I'm cheep. I just bought a bunch of tops from old navy and bought one size up but I didn't pay more than $5 for any.

Oh is yours opening in a week? I think ours is further off on that. I hope it has the nursing tanks when it does open! I still have some from when DD was little. These are the ones:

Gilligan & OMalley? Womens Side Sling Nursing Ca... : Target

I think my nursing bras are from Thyme Maternity. They aren't sexy but who's trying to be sexy with those rockets on your chest. I just wish the fabric was thicker so they hide the outline of the nursing pads better.

oooh, I like this too! I might need to look for this when I'm in the US next week!

I loved the Target ones Heather linked as well. I bought my nursing bras there too. I'm cheap though and would rather leak milk on something inexpensive Wink

You don't have Target in Canada?!?!? Wow... you will soon find out what you've been missing out on! Target is my favorite store. I will definitely have to check out some nursing clothes there. I agree that some regular tanks could work as nursing wear too.
I have noticed some of motherhoods clothes are kinda cheaply made but is incredibly expensive. Doesn't make sense!

Nope, no Target in Canada...YET. Target bought our Zellers stores though and liquidated them. They are in renovations right now and then they will be Target. I'm SO excited. Target is my guilty pleasure in the US. I've seen plenty of US stores come to Canada and it never works out how we hope. The prices are never as good and the selection isn't the same. I hope that our Target gets the same products. I mean, I'd pay $5 more on a $20 tank top if it means getting it in town...but...well...we'll see.

As for normal tanks, I'm not a fan of fiddling with them. I really liked the nursing specific ones.

When DD was born I got some nursing PJs from Thyme and they sucked. They didn't stay closed when you were sleeping so you'd get cold. Also, they didn't have a shelf so you couldn't wear nursing pads...so you'd just leak everywhere. They SEEMED good at the time, but I ended up just wearing a nursing tank to bed most of the time.

ooooh, I just saw these Milkstars nursing shirts on the babysteals archives. I hope they get them again. I love how they look like a normal shirt but are a nursing one under.

They had those on Babysteals or BabyHalfOff recently too. Pretty neat but I'd hate to have to wear that "shirt" nonstop Wink

The only nursing tank I have was from Motherhood and it lifts up from the bottom. It has a top part that just covers your chest. I love this better than the ones that come down, however I have never seen them again anywhere Sad

I never bought any actual nursing shirts. I have one and it's okay. I just have the Target nursing tanks and would wear them underneath another shirt and it worked just fine.
I also bought the Gilligan O' Malley nursing bras and love them! I don't know if they sell the ones I have anymore though. Sad
They may be something like these: Gilligan & O'Malley? Women's Comfort Nursing Bra... : Target
Mine weren't padded (padding gets in the way when you're trying to pull down the bra) and had lace on the outside, they're really nice!
Then I also bought a sleep bra here: Oh Baby by Motherhood Nursing Sleep Bra
I love that one - super comfy but not much support so not great for going out.

I saw the shirt at BRU and it was super cute!! Not really worth 60 bucks IMHO but it was super cute! Biggrin

I can't really contribute to the nursing topic.. I didn't get to nurse DD and I probably won't with this little guy.. but here's to wishful thinking?? Biggrin

$60 is alot for it but I think I'm going to get it anyways! lol. I haven't seen any other baby carriers I like or want so I might try this because I need something since I have 2 other boys I have to chase around the house.

Oh and just because you couldn't nurse DD, it could be different this time around. I wish you much luck with it!

Well if you ladies want a really cheap and practical idea this is what I did w/ # 3 and it worked GREAT! I bought a package of the "white wife beater tanks" got them at the dollar store and cut out circles where my breast are at and tada! A cheap nursing tank! They worked great for me anyway, and as far as a nursing bra I've had great luck w/ the ones at Walmart... they aren't to sexy but I'm more of a comfort gal while nursing anyway.

I liked the MHM bras but I agree they are expensive. I also had a hard time my first pregnancy because I have huge boobs with a tiny body (32DD) But... IDK I hate that you have to guess what you are going to be.

I bought a couple nursing tanks with DD (they pulled up from under the bust), but I hardly every wore them. I did wear my nursing bras, but even that became annoying. I just started wearing my sports bras and regular v-neck shirts and take the whole boob out... they're big enough I can do that easily, especially with a sports bra cup. There was no way I was going to bother with nursing bras/shirts for 2 years! So this time around, not getting anything special, except lots and lots of nursing pads!
