PRE-E Vent

Have any of you ladies had pre eclampsia? I have a history of high BP during pregnancy. With this baby, we have a whole different medical group. My OB is having me go above and beyond because of my history. While I appreciate the proactive ness of it, it is driving me crazy. I know my body, I know how it reacts during a pregnancy. I don't want to be a difficult patient, but geeze......

That would make me NUTS. Can you decline some of the stuff they want you to do? I love my midwife because she isn't pushy like that.

I had it with my first and with my second, they closely monitored my BP and protein levels, especially the last month but that's it and I didn't get it with him. Sorry they're driving you nuts!

What kinds of things are they making you do?
I had it with my first and it turned into eclampsia and I had seizures during labor... but I didn't have any signs beforehand so it totally caught me off guard. With my second, my midwife just had me get some urine test strips for home and a bp monitor. I never had problems with #2 and this time she's just making sure to monitor me.

I'm having to do 24 hour urines, NST's twice a week starting next month. Early testing for everything... Today I had a trace of protein and I was sent for a urinalysis plus another 24 hour urine. I have had a horrible cold and know that I was probably dehydrated. Which more likely than not is the reason for the trace. BP is fine. I understand the precautions, and appreciate the concern, it just feels like it's a bit much. I didn't have to do all of this with my last 2. I think Im just being a crabby pregnant person. I would understand if labs came back abnormal or signs were there, but for now, everything is normal... Just venting

Wow, that's a lot of stuff. It's possible that because you've never been there before, they are unfamiliar with your past history and just want to be super safe.
You should definitely voice your concerns to your OB and just ask them why all the tests and give an example of what was done for your other pregnancies. That might help. Also, maybe tell them that all of these tests just stress you out and don't seem to help. Maybe volunteer to do some testing on your own at home so you're not so radared by them.
