Travel Systems

So now that we are all halfway through our pregnancies, and starting to buy baby stuff. I am really wondering what stroller I am going to use. I have always had a travel system but the carseat is no good so I will have to buy a new carseat. I have a new mamas & papas sola stroller that I love and can attach a Graco or Maxi cosi carseat to it which is an option or buy a whole new travel system for about the same price. My dilemma is I wonder if I need to get a double stroller because DS2 will only be 20 months, but I won't be taking both kids all the time.
So what are you ladies thinking? Expecially if you have 2 LO's that need a ride,lol.

I LOVE my BOB. I bought it when DD was older though so I didn't use it with a car seat...but you can buy an adapter for car seats.

Have you looked into the Phil & Teds stroller? It has a great little double seat at the back. Not cheap, but if I needed a double sometimes I'd look into it...probably used.

I'm not really into the cheap-o strollers that come with travel systems. I had one with DD at the start and it was so annoying to use. It took WAY more force to push, didn't maneuver very well and was cheaply made. Also, if you ever want to go walking on a dirt trail, forget it!

Thanks Heather! I have seen that one, like it but the front seems alittle long! I really like the Britax B ready! Might get one but then again I just spent $400 on my stroller but it's only a single. I thought about using the one I have with the carseat and then maybe getting the Graco ready to grow for a double. I already have the Joovy Caboose ultralight, but think DS2 will be to young for a sit n stand.

I am going to try really hard to find a Phil and Ted's used. My sister found one on craigslist for less than $200. I love it. And IRL I don't think it is that long. It maneuvers really easily and can even be used for jogging. Of course I need to sell one of the strollers I already have.

Ya, I'm pretty sure the Phil & Teds is smaller than the BOB.

Because my DD is going to be 3 when baby is born, we're not getting a double. We'll just use the BOB for baby, and in the rare moments when DD does want to sit (like at a zoo or something) we can put baby in the ergo and DD can use the stroller. Also, this past summer DD discovered the art of sitting in the foot rest part of the BOB. LOL, here she is a farming exposition:

So I think in a pinch we could fit a baby in the seat area and K could take a break on the foot rest.

Our other issue is that our BOB is pink...hummmm...I'm going to cross that bridge when we get to it!

Another idea is one of those boards you can add to the back of your current stroller to make it a sit and stand.

I'm glad you ladies are talking about this because I have no idea what to get. I know I WANT a travel system. But that's me. I'd like to be able to pull the carseat out of the backseat and throw (not really "throw") it in the stroller and get moving. Are they really heavy?
I have a Mustang, not really a family friendly car but we definitely can't afford anything else especially since DH's car is not working right now. So, it's a two door and I'm not sure it'd be feasible to pull the car seat out and put it back in (with baby) everytime I take the baby out. What do you guys think?

I had/have a travel system from DS. I liked it ok, but the car seat is pretty heavy and he was not a heavy baby. It took him to 3 months to hit about 9 lbs. If you think you are going to have a hard time pulling the car seat in and out, I would opt for a carrier instead of a stroller all together until the baby is old enough to sit in a regular stroller. I used my moby when grocery shopping and stuff. The car seat takes up all the cart space and then you have to yell at people that come up and touch your baby :angry1: Just my opinion of course and how I ended up doing things.

I just don't know if I can "wear" a baby. I know a whooooole lot of people do it, but I'd be scared. Plus, I'm not sure my...um..physique would fit one of the wraps.

I weigh 220 pre-pregnancy (which isn't a whole lot different at the moment, lol). The moby is great because it has lots of room and it allows for woman of all sizes. If there are any baby stores that carry them around you, you should be able to try them on and see if there is one you prefer. The buckle kind like an Ergo or an Action Baby carrier just barely fit me, but they do make extensions to add on if needed.

You can also try car seats at BRUS. So if you want to check and see if you can get the seat in and out, that is a good place to start. Then you would know if it would be worth getting the travel system. :)
