Ultrasound woes

So I had gone for the first u/s last week and was told I was 5 weeks along (not the expected 7). I was ok with that but then I got a call from my Dr. office yesterday to make an appointment for another u/s before my next ob visit which is next week. So I called to make the appointment, they scheduled me for this morning....and again they couldn't see anything but the sac but confirmed it's larger than last weeks. They also said my uterus is slightly tilted which makes it hard to see anything and that most likely I will be scheduled for a third u/s soon. WTH??? Shouldn't they be able to see something at this point??

I'm certainly no expert, but I think 6 weeks is still pretty early to see much. A quick google search (really unofficial!) says that at 6 weeks you should see the sac and this is the earliest you would see a fetal pole. Are they doing transvaginal ultrasounds? If they are doing abdominal US that would make it a lot more difficult to see anything this early. I hope the doc has some insight for you...

Yes, that's what I found online too. We'll see what happens next week. Thanks Smile

With DS2 I had a dating scan around 6 weeks (abdominal) and was diagnosed with a blighted ovum. I insisted on a transvag because it was the day before I was leaving on vacation and I didn't want that on my mind, and sure enough, there was a heartbeat. The first scan was just too early to see anything.

Good luck! I hope the same happens for you.

Agreeing with other ladies - my office won't even schedule an US until 8 weeks because you really can't see anything yet.

I think all is fine.. Hang in there, mama!! Smile :comfort:

So my OB called last night to talk about my last u/s. She said the difference from the previous one is that the sack increased in size and there is now a fetal pole.....but no heart beat detected. She said there should be one within the next few days and wants me schedule another u/s and if again no heart beat is detected I will most likely miss carry. I'm scheduling that u/s as far into the future as I can...possibly a full week from now...I just can't help but feel good there is a fetal pole but sad the heart beat wasn't there. I checked online and this seems very common so I won't get too upset about it but still... Sad

Not sure what is going on but now I've started bleeding Sad it started with pinkness last night to the beginnings of period. I called the on call OB and she said to come into the ER if I soak a pad every hour in four hours or pass large clots. If I don't go to the ER tonight I'll be calling the dr in the morning.

:bighug: I know how nerve-wrecking it is to go through bleeding in pregnancy. It really, really sucks. Hoping for good news for you.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I went to see the dr today, she sent me in to have another u/s it shows I completed a miscarriage Sad The sack was gone. I'm sad but very grateful it didn't happen further along in the pregnancy. Have a wonderfull pregnancy everyone!!

At my sisters 8 week apt they told her she wasn't pregnant and they couldnt see anything all because she had a tilted uterus. Her little boy is 2months old now so much for "not being pregnant"

I wish this was the case for me. My body has basically expelled everything. I've never had a m/s before but I'm almost sure this is what it is. So far the cramps are becoming more bearable but the bleeding has stopped. They told me I had a tilted uterus too....weird.

I am so sorry :bigarmhug: Did they say if your tilted uterus caused anything? Or that you just had one?
