Just checking in with everyone to see how you all are doing..
Up until I found out I was GD, I had gained 40 lbs.. since finding out almost a month ago, I've only gained 1.8!! There's something to be said about a healthier diet!
What about you all? Staying in your ranges??
Adriana - That's what I always think of as the one plus side of having GD. It pretty much forces you to be healthy, which translates to less weight to lose after the baby is born. I've pretty much followed the GD diet and walking this entire pregnancy, and as of last week I had only gained 6 lbs from my pre-preg weight. I *know* that if I didn't have GD go force me to keep my eating in check, I'd be hip deep in waffles right now. OMG, waffles....
2 Target brand waffles at 27 carbs so I have that with SF syrup and about half a glass of milk. Usually only once or twice a week, depending on how my numbers have looked. They can elevate them a little higher than 120 from time to time. This morning 2 hours after I ate them, I was at 130 so.. not horrible but still not under the 120 they want. Probably won't have them again this week. They're a treat, for sure.
Back to my trusty MaltoMeal!
Good to know! Yum, waffles sound amazing!!! Meant to tell you: a small (but still respectable) piece of angel food cake + like a cup of fresh sliced strawberries is like 25-30 carbs and put me at 109. It was....amazing.
See, I'm scared to mess with any kind of cake. Maybe in my mind it's like.. cake = bad but I looked at one in the bakery at our local grocery store and it wasn't horrific! Don't remember why I put it back but I did.. probably didn't trust myself with a whole angel food cake.
Haha, for the most part I am the same way, but my coworkers specifically researched what is the lowest carb kind of cake for my work baby shower (isn't that sweet???) and came up with abgel food cake and fresh strawberries. I decided to give it a whirl as a special treat for my shower and to not hurt their feelings, and sure enough, it was okay. I tested afterwards even though I normally don't test after my snacks because I really was curious, and two hours later I was at a very respectable 109. So if I get the chance again, I would totally eat some more. It was so sweet and good after not having anything like that for months!
I'm still down from my pre-pregnancy weight. However, with a weight gain like last week (7 pounds!! EEK!... but I'm blaming it on my soaked, heavy (VERY HEAVY LMAO) sweatshirt), it won't be low long!
Oh...did I mention I ate an ENTIRE PINT of cookies and cream icecream last night?? That might have something to do with it. *ahem*
