Last time I worked right up until and into labor - water broke at work! I plan to do the same this time. I don't want to waste any of my time off before the baby is here - I need every minute once she's here. Hoping she stays put a little longer than her sister did (37 weeks, 6 days) since I think DD could have used some more baking time.
Last time I planned 6 weeks maternity leave (didn't have FMLA, paid time, or anything that time), but had to stay out for 8 weeks because we were NOT doing well with nursing or anything at 6 weeks (DD wasn't gaining weight, etc) - I was sleeping maybe 1-2 hours every 24 hour period and I would have been unsafe at work.
This time I am planning at least 8 weeks maternity leave (up to 12), do have FMLA, STD (only pays after 4 weeks and up to 6 weeks for uncomplicated delivery - so, only 2 weeks!), and have saved up some paid time off.
Callie - Funny, Calvin was born at 37+5 and I thought he needed more baking time also. He felt like a preemie compared to Sean who was born at 40+5. Only perk was it was a heck of a lot easier to push out a 6.5lb baby than an 8.5lb baby, hahaha.
