Anyone else having contractions? I started having painful contractions last week (work has been extremely stressful over the past month so I am 99% sure that is what started them). I went to the doctor after 2 days of contractions lasting for 1.5-2 hours (and painful enough that I had to walk around my office and not sit at my desk). I was dilated a little over 1 cm, so he told me to try to slow down at work and come back the following week to be checked again. I went back yesterday and I haven't dilated anymore, but my cervix is softening. He put me on modified bed rest for the time being, so I can still be up, but am supposed to try to rest, keep my feet up as much as possible and work from home a max of 4 hours per day. Today is my first day at home and the contractions are still coming, though at less frequent intervals. It's stressing me out though. Anyone else have experience with this? I go back to the doctor again next week (and will go every week until I have the baby). I don't want to be on total bed rest, but also don't want a baby in the NICU for the next 2 months.

I was in L&D on Thursday for contractions, they weren't really painful but since I have a cerclage I had to go as a precaution. Everything checked out fine. I was 50% effaced and closed. They checked baby and he is fine. I go back tomorrow to OB and on Friday for cervical length. I really wished they would have measured my cervix, but I guess they figured I have the cerclage and I'm on bed rest anyway there was no point. They have stopped since then. I also had some bacteria in my urine but wasn't enough to start any kind of antibiotics.

I am also have a lot of pressure when walking, it feels sometimes like the baby will fall out... It's so frustrating. I'm not sure I'm going to make it full term at all.

I went today and I have been having contractions. She told me to take it easy and try not to do much. I'm a photographer so i have had to cancel my upcoming Easter Mini Seasons. I am going to do 2 more senior sessions and she told me that was it for me until the baby is born!

I've been home since Monday afternoon, but am failing miserably at taking it easy. Work is crazy right now, so I've still been billing 8-10 hours per day, which is over twice as much as what the doctor okayed. Contractions are still coming, so I know I need to slow down. I'm a little scared to go to the doctor next week because I know I will get lectured. I think if I can make it through the next few days with work, it will start to slow down.

@Marisol - I hear you on the pressure... it's not too bad for me yet, but I know it's coming. I actually have varicose veins in places that you should never have them, so I can only be on my feet for small periods of time without a ton of pain.

@Nichole - good luck on taking it easy... hope you have better luck than I am!

We had contractions a few weeks ago but did not dilate and was told it was due to dehydration. I drink a ton of water but I had to add poweraid to my diet to replace electrolytes. Since then, I've taken it easy and drank one 20oz bottle of poweraid a day - the contractions have stopped. I still get inconsistent braxton hicks but those are fine, I'm told.

I hope you ladies get to rest some more. You're further along than can make it! You're almost there!!! "Full Term" is at 37 weeks!
