I think I want this...?

I was looking at baby stuff today and came across this...
I'm still on the fence about it because of price, but it does have good reviews. What do you think? I was thinking about putting it in the bedroom so I don't have to walk up and down stairs in the middle of the night. Waste of money???

I have BF'ed all 3 of my kids and plan to do the same with this one, but if for some reason I can't this time, I would totally get this! We bought a bottle warmer with my third (I work FT still, so have to pump and give bottles during the day) and couldn't live without it. Not sure how/why we didn't buy one with the first 2!

I would be concerned about the water contamination possibility -- like humidifiers or pod coffee makers. I wonder how easy it is to clean, and can you disinfect/sterilize it?

Well I personally wouldn't want it because I breastfeed, so it would totally be wasted at my house. It does seem awfully expensive for what it does do. What is the alternative to doing this? Would you be boiling water on the stove? Or using tap water and then a bottle warming machine. For night times could you pre-mix a bottle and then just warm it up using a bottle warmer in your room? Sorry, I know nothing about formula feeding and safety, you want to be very careful about contamination, especially when the baby is very young. I was actually under the impression that you were supposed to feed ready-made formula for the first little while because there is such a high risk of contamination using the powdered stuff.

I also exclusively breastfeed so its not a product that would be on my radar. Like the others, I'd be worried about contamination and bacteria issues and would it be worth the time it takes to keep it clean and sterile. I also feel like its very high priced for what it does. However, you may disagree and if you feel this thing is going to make your life easier, then you should purchase it.

I have to agree with PP. I wouldn't personally buy it, it's too expensive.

I have FF two babies. No boiling. We used to just keep distilled water in the jug and pour it into the bottle when we used it, and then mixed it. Never used a bottle warmer. I never premixed it either. I always mixed right before feeding.
You don't have to feed ready made formula at any point. I'm not even sure that was an option when my first two were little. We always bought powdered and it was all fine. Smile
This has parts you clean and disinfect every day. I've read a ton of reviews and info about it, and while people will complain about one thing or another, I haven't seen even one person say anything about having a problem with contamination or sick babies. So I think it's handled pretty well Smile

I have decided I will get it BUT it will be at the end of the list. KWIM? At this point there are def. more important things to get, so if we have the extra money then I will get it. If not, we will opt for a simple bottle warmer.

As for the premixed, the only reason I gave my DD that was because they gave me a whole bunch before I left the hospital. I was never told I had to give it to her. I never even thought about it.

:lurk:
I used powdered formula from the moment I brought Robbie home from the NICU. I premixed the formula and then just warmed it in a container of hot water so it wasn't cold from the fridge. The only time we used the premade stuff was when I had my gallbladder out and Sean was afraid of screwing the formula up.

I read through the Amazon reviews on this product and there are a couple of reviewers who claimed it made their babies sick, so I'm assuming it was likely not properly sterilized. Personally, I would get annoyed at having to take and clean certain parts every day, and a product like this wouldn't be much use to me. I FF my DD from 11mo to 13 mo but I put the formula in the bottle with the water and shook it up. A lot of the reviewers claim this as a 'life saver' type device, so for some its absolutely worth the cost. I think it totally depends on your lifestyle and personal preferences. I say if you plan to FF and this device seems like it will make life easier, go for it.

Just in case anyone is following along that would wonder about this, I want to make sure to add that the parent reviews that said their baby got sick said they had gotten improper mixes, not that there was any sterilization problems. If you don't properly install the formula 'comb' or don't clean it and it clumps, you don't get the proper mix.

Curious why this seems to almost make people mad to think about?
