Active Duty Females?

Any mommies that are active duty online? If so, what branch? How long have you been in? How many children do you have? Planning to make it a career?

My DH and I are both active duty - I'm Navy, he is Marine. I have been in about 9 years and have 4 children (just had twins). I am pushing the half way mark and struggling to make a decision... just wanted to chat for some advice on career choices

DH is AD Navy now but I was also AD at one time. Dual military was definitely not for us once we started having children, so :udawoman:for sticking with it for 9 years!! I am not too familiar with the Marines and thier roations but I have a bad feeling that from here on out "normal" 6 month Navy deployments will be a thing of the past. DH just got back from a 9 month deployment and from what I hear 8-10 month deployments are becoming the norm. I am sure you are well aware of this, but I know for me that would be the deal breaker. Good luck on your decision though! That would be a tough one.

There are at least two of us; used to be 3. I'm an AF computer programmer and so is dh. If I was in a different career field it wouldn't work for us, but it does. I think after the 8 year mark you might as well finish, but that's just me. We have the reserves that you could also retire from though in case I really hate it the next time my enlistment comes up. We don't do it for the money.
