Age's Baby Shower -Updated with a few photos!

I will start this post by saying I have no photos! LOL

So we had Adrienne's baby shower on the 7th -- it went a lot better than I thought -- and was way more expensive then I budgeted. My "plan" was to spend the entire week from when my niece and nephew left on July 31 till the shower to prepare/shop etc. Well, best laid plans...... with only one car, we were getting home SO late at night that we had no time to really get things done.

By the 31st of July (RSVP date) I had received very few RSVPs so I was thinking that we were looking at maybe 15 people? Then Jon's mom called and told me that "people in California don't RSVP" (not true). I called Adrienne who started pestering her friends and Jon's family to get me numbers. Since it was co-ed -- at the last minute I wound up expecting nearly 40 people or more

SOOOOO On Friday, I called a rental place to rent table and chairs because I do not have enough chairs -- we rented 35 chairs and three huge tables plus to long tables for food and table clothes. Jon's sister volunteered to decorate (which was AMAZING!)

Saturday I ran to Costco to get beer and wine, a friend brought over a jug for Sangria which I also made, we ordered 8 or 9 huge platters of food from the grocery, DH kept wanting to order more cause he felt we didn't have enough food, I wanted to order less because I though we had too much (I was right --we sent a lot of food home with people and there's still stuff in my fridge I need to clean out!) You do not want to know how much that was. It sucked too cause it was so last minute, I planned to do my own cheese platters, fruit etc but when suddenly we realized how many people there were, DH just wanted to order everything and let someone else do the work.

I also called Liz --Age's mom -- at the last minute and begged her to do games and favors because I did not have the chance to do anything. She was so happy to do that --think she was feeling a little left out of everything!

Anyways, Sunday came -- Jon's mom and sis and Liz came over early to decorate, one of my friends came over early too to help me make sangria -- people started coming at 2ish. We did have a really full house but honestly, as much as I hated the cost, it worked SO well -- probably one of the best parties I ever had. I actually got to enjoy the party instead of stressing in the kitchen. Food was great, everyone had a great time. Adrienne got so many presents it was amazing!

I must have done an awesome job cause Age had a few people post on her fb that it was awesome -- on Monday my friend (co-worker) was telling another co-worker about the party and she said it was really nice and she had a lot of fun -- for her to say that, it must have been great LOL She is one of those types! Smile

I emailed Claudia (SIL's mom) for photos since my camera died halfway through, I will post those when I get them -- here is the invite!

Sounds like a lot of stress but also a lot of fun. Isn't it amazing (and not in a good way) how much parties and showers can set you back? What happened to the good old days of a homemade cake and punch being enough?!?!?

What kind of food platters did you have? (Do you love how I want more details and you already gave us a ton, lol).

Cute invitations! I was wondering how you incorporated the U/S.

Do you remember some of the stuff she got? I can't wait to see pictures!

Food platters -- you want it we got it LOL We had three or four different sandwiches/wraps including croissants, tea sandwiches, wraps... and I think one other one. We had a big cheese platter, fruit platter, I think a fruit and cheese platter and a veggie platter.

She got a lot of stuff off her registry -- I know she got a Moby wrap, Diaper genie (Which I am not sure she will use as much if she is CD?) She got lots of clothes, numerous books, a boppy, a video monitor from Jon's parents, a nightlight turtle, swaddle blankets, things like nail clippers, aspirators, and thermometers, a mobile...when I finally get my camera, I took photos of the gifts so I will post those. I know she took some things back and was able to trade them for almost everything on her registry.

Oh and DH and I got her a glider/ottoman set.

Glad that the party went so well! That must feel so great. Too bad that it was pricier than you had planned, but at least you got the benefit of the $$.

Omg! I felt stressed for you reading about your days leading up to it. I hate when people don't RSVP! Sounds like a fantastic shower! Biggrin

That's a great gift. My MIL gave me mine too and its been the best thing. We still use it and will be using it more soon. Everyone that comes over calls dibs on it.

AMY! Sounds like you did such an amazing job!!! What a lucky daughter you have there and how loved is your grand-baby already?!?! Everything seriously sounds awesome. Smile

She is going to LOVE her Moby! Seriously one of my favorite wraps this time around, I only wish the temp was a bit cooler and I would wear him in it all the time Smile And very cool you got her the glider, she will think of you every time she falls asleep gliding.
