So this week, Zayden is on spring break. His school has a spring break camp which is good but instead of dropping off at 7:30 the earliest the kids can get there is 8:30. Since I have to be at work at 8, DH is taking him all week.
Got up this morning, got dressed, got ready to go. Hunted Z down to give him goodbye kisses and he was being all silly and squirmy. DH jumped in the shower and Z was watching TV.
Grabbed my coffee, locked went out to the car, started up my car. Couldn't see out of my rear window cause it was foggy (normal this time of the year). (Thankfully) stopped for a sec to see if I had something in my car, put my car in reverse, took off the handbrake, started to back up, glanced in my side mirror --too see Zayden running right behind my car up to the side. Had I reversed two seconds earlier I would have hit him.
Slammed on the brakes, turn of the car and grab him. He wanted one more giant squeeze hug and a few other hugs for good measure. Ran back into the house, he'd unlocked the door, left it wide open. I should have screamed at him but how do you scold him for wanting hugs and besides I was shaking at that point. Took him up to daddy who did scold him for running out in the driveway.
He started crying when I left so Daddy took him out to the front deck so he could see mommy leave. I was shaking half the way to work cause it really was so close.
We need to put a lock on the front door high enough he cannot reach!
