Bed Time, nap time, sleeping time

So, I have another meeting at Zayden's school for Tuesday at 1:30  to discuss his progress. Part of it is to follow up on a biting incident that happened the day we left on vacation, also the administrator wants to discuss a few other things. Obviously I am NOT happy about this and this time demanded DH to go since he seems to think Z is a perfect angel.

I called the administrator to set the meeting and did ask what we were going to talk about. One thing she mentioned is that Zayden does seem tired a lot. This has been an ongoing issue since Z turned one at daycare and they wanted to initiate set nap times, he gets tired sometimes around 11:00 to 11:30 and their nap time is 12:30. this was one thing they wanted to talk about.

Z goes to bed no later than 8:00 p.m. He wakes up --usually totally on his own -- around 6:00 to 6:30. I drop him off at daycare around 7:30-DH picks him up close to 5 -- so he is there a long time. He gets a nap around 12:30, they have to wake him up at 2:30 and the teacher said once they think he could sleep longer. At home on the weekends, our schedule is more lax, I have been trying to make sure he naps around the same time but he will sometimes sleep closer to 2.5 - 3 hours.

Is he getting enough sleep? I really don't know that we could get him to bed much earlier, its hard enough to get him to sleep at 8-- he is usually full of energy still. But he does tend to want a nap much earlier and gets sleepy -- and then cranky.

I will update on the other issues once we chat. I am praying they will continue to work with him and I don't have to worry about him not be accepted back next year. He is doing SO well it seems and is learning so much.

Jackson sleeps exactly the same hours. So I would be inclined to say that Z's getting enough sleep but I don't know, every kid is different. I would see what they say and if they suggest more sleep, maybe try putting him down at 7 or 7:30 and see if he's still getting up at the same time.

Nigel goes to bed around 8 and is up about 6-6:30. Sometimes he will sleep until 7:30 but on those days he tries to not nap and is then very tired and cranky around 4. He usually naps for about 1.5 hours around 1ish. I have read that 12-14 hours a day is normal but every kid is different. Nigel has never been a good napper and seems to always be at the low end of normal. Z sounds like he may need a bit more. I would try 7:30 for bed and see how it goes!

Let us know what else comes up in the meeting!!

Eek! I read this yesterday and forgot to reply. Sorry!

I also think they're all so different on what their sleep needs are! Miles doesn't take naps anymore. Not because he doesn't want to, I just stopped offering. If he takes a nap, he's not ready for bed until atleast 10pm, and well...that's not fun. He does PERFECT with no naps. He goes to bed at 7pm and typically sleeps until 7-8am. It's been working out well for him.

I would suggest maybe skipping bathtime, and trying for a slightly earlier bedtime. I know when we give Miles a bath at night it wakes him up and he's got this sudden burst of energy.
