Bed times?

We are really struggling with bed times so I want to see what everyone else is doing?

Zayden's school seems to feel that a large part of his behavior issues are that he is tired at school.

We wake him up at 6:20 so he can watch a show and I can get him ready for school -- we leave at 6:50 ish. Today, he woke up on his own -- he has always been an early riser though lately he has slept in more --i.e. to maybe 6-6:30.

I would love to say we can just put him to bed earlier but he is honestly just NOT tired! We are struggling to get him into bed by 8 -- we usually can hear him in there till 9 or 9:30 talking, singing, playing with any toys he snuck in his crib (yes he is STILL in a crib!) He just isn't tired! He is pretty good at staying in his crib and not calling but he just doesn't want to sleep.

Day time he still naps really well -- at school they say he gets really tired early and is the first to fall asleep, last to wake up (though yesterday he was really tired apparently but didn't nap so he slept in the car on the way home)

So what are others doing for bed time? What time does your LO go to bed and wake up? How about naps?

Just wondering if Z is getting enough sleep though I don't know how to get him more sleep. If he was so tired, I would have no problem putting him to bed earlier, he just is not tired and would not sleep!!

Lyla's bedtime is 9, and I always struggle to get her to bed that early. She has always been a night owl, and would prefer much later. I wake her up during the week at 7:15. On the weekends when she gets to sleep in, she will sleep until at least 8:30.

Jackson goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes around 6:15. He doesn't nap. Whenever we read to Jackson, he starts to get sleepy. He starts to yawn and it makes me tired too! Maybe Zayden is past the point of tiredness when they start to get wound up again?

I wondered that but he just doesn't really seem tired? On weekends, he will stay up till 10 if we let him -- I am trying to eliminate that so we are consistent. He is definitely a night owl like me but STILL gets up so early even if he is up late.

He is still getting a 2-3 hour nap each day and he needs that desperately. He cannot make it through the day without it.

We get PJ's on and read books starting at 7:30 and depending on how many books we read, he is in bed by 7:50-8:00 and usually asleep by 8:30. He usually wakes up between 6:45 and 7:00. He does still take a nap and like Z he NEEDS it. LOL He usually will sleep for anywhere from an hour to 3 hours, it just depends on the day.

Ava goes to bed between 7-8pm. 8 is the max she is allowed to stay up. Sometimes she'll play and read quietly in her room. I don't mind that. I think independant play is good for them. And, she is not being disruptive so I let it go. She gets up at 7:30am. She also does not nap anymore. Sad

Alyssa goes to bed 8:30-9. And gets up on the days I work at 6:20. On the days I don't she is usually up by 7:30, 8 at the very latest. We've never really had a strict bedtime routine. PJ's, book and brush teeth but never in a particular order.

Wow I could have written the bolded word for word. Lately she went through a phase where she was waking up on her own every morning at 7:05, but this week we have been back to dragging her out of bed at 7:15.

On Friday and Saturday nights we let her stay up until 10 or 10:30, and even then she doesn't act the slightest bit tired. The child can seriously stay up until midnight without blinking an eye...she's a night owl like mommy. She doesn't really sleep in, though...she's pretty much up by 7:30 no matter what, unfortunately.

Oh and she still naps most days for about 1.5 hours. If we skip nap and we are in the car for any amount of time, she konks out in the carseat, so that's how I know she still can't really make it through the day without a nap.

Aasha is usually asleep by around 8:15p, and up between 6:30a-7a. We're more relaxed about bedtime on Fri/Sat nights, so for those she may sleep up to an hour later and get up an hour later. She still naps ~2 hours M-F at preschool. She usually still naps at home on the weekend, but sometimes she skips it.

Our big problem has been getting her to STTN again. She hasn't for a long time now - maybe 10 months?? So, that messed up her sleeping times quite a bit (and ours). She's been STTN for the last 4 nights now, and we are crossing our fingers that she is back on track. We pulled out the heavy guns for this: a sticker for each night she STTN and a gift once she gets 10 stickers, she's allowed a "treat" or 2 the next day if she STTN (something sweet) plus maybe a little bit of TV, and if she doesn't STTN then no sweets or TV/screen time the next day.

Jack is usually in bed around 7:45, but sometimes he'll play in bed until 8:30-9:00 depending on how tired he is. He was waking up crying every night for months, but I decided to not go in his room when he wakes up anymore and he goes back to sleep within ten minutes, he has night terrors too and going in his room makes it worse. In the morning he's up between 6 and 7. He still takes a nap some days, and other days he just plays in his room.

Noah is in bed, lights out, by 8:00p, S-Th. We have a very strict bedtime routine, so even on the nights he's fighting us and doesn't want to go to bed, he knows that's what's coming, no matter what. But lately he's been trying to delay it by striking up a conversation with me or DH as we leave his room. It's pretty funny. He wakes up on his own around 6ish on mornings when he has STTN. When he doesn't STTN, it's closer to 6:30-7:00 (which is quite often). Friday and Saturday nights, we let him stay up til around 9, and he's still up at the same time. Noah naps about 2 hours (12-2) every day, whether at home or school.
