Anybody else have some certain people who come over to your house regularly and spoil your children?!?!

My family is terrible for this! It doesn't help that Miles is the only grandchild on my side of the family. My parents come over pretty regularly (almost every week, if not for sure every 2 weeks) and they ALWAYS have *something* for him. Whether it's a new toy, a stuffed animal, or a handful of dum-dum suckers.

My sister is even worse. She is constantly calling me asking what size he wears in pajamas. What size underwear he wears, etc. She brings something over every time she comes as well, whether it's a toy from her McD's happy meal, a pile of clothes, a dvd, or a toy.

Well, now when I tell Miles that Grandma and Grandpa are coming over (or Auntie) later, he has started asking what they're going to bring him before they come. And when I come home from shopping? "What did you bring for me? Is there a toy in there?" ROFL

Great, thanks guys!
(I can't imagine they'll all continue this once there's 2 to buy for, but, I guess we'll find out?!)

Both my parents always bring something too, I don't think either of them have ever shown up empty handed, and we see them quite a bit. I don't mind the items (clothes, toys, books) I like that my parents are thinking about my kiddos when they're not with them. BUT, the junk food that my Dad brings over! OMG! He is horrible about it! It started when Andrew was in NICU. He always brought Ava a treat when he watched her. I didn't mind then, since it made her happy and I felt guilty for being away from her so much. But it has not stopped! Cookies, candies, suckers- the other day he asked if she could have gum! Seriously, Dad? Hubba Bubba for a 3 yr old? She's going to have diabetes by the time she's 5. AND! He is diabetic. he has no business having that crap anyways. Thankfull Andrew is not a sweets eater, so he rarely takes what is offered to him.

That is funny, Amber. Glad my parents aren't the only ones. Miles is so picky, he wouldn't eat half the stuff anybody offered him. He just recently started eating suckers, but he NEVER finishes them, and they're the small dum-dums so I don't mind. Usually the stick gets too wet and he thinks it's broken so it goes into the garbage. Lol

Ashley, everyone is like that with deacon. Dh, my mom, ILs, my siblings, friends, coworkers....it's crazy. One day thi week he got 3 new toys in one day. He is so spoiled and I don't always think its a good thing. And like Miles, he always says "what did you bring me?" when he sees Justin or my mom. It's usually nothing big, unless it's from jus. Like the grandparents will bring him a free sheet of stickers they got in the mail or a McDonald's toy. Still....I worry he will become unappreciative. So far if jus doesn't have something for him when he asks he doesn't care, but I can see how he may start to throw a fit if he doesn't get a surprise.

My MIL always has like three toys every time she comes over, plus clothes or books so now when she walks in the first thing he asks for is cars (she brings him some sort of car) and runs away as soon as he gets it and doesn't even want to give nana a kiss lol. DH is another one, he goes food shopping and comes home with a toy every other week but Jack always thinks daddy has something for him when he comes home with food and will start rummaging through the bags looking. Last week he was sure daddy brought him home James the red engine from Thomas and friends.

I'm with you, Magali....we don't have family here, so no one spoils Sophia but us Biggrin We see my parents every 3 months or so and they sometimes bring the kids something but not every time. I will occassionally buy Sophia something "for no reason" but it's not on a regular basis so she definitely hasn't come to expect anything at this point. Usually if I bring her something home it's clothes, because that's what she needs, and she gets really excited and wants to put them on immediately. I love how excited she get for new clothes because I always thought kids didn't care about new clothes. And if I get her and Layla something matching....she's in HEAVEN.

No, other than us there's no one that spoils our kids. We're real bad with Will & Sawyer...we started always getting them a toy when we went to Walmart or somewhere so they always think they're suppose to get something when we make a quick trip to the store. I've had an easier time breaking Sawyer of this habit since Will's in school most of the time when I go to the store. I always try to tell myself that they're only little once & it's okay to spoil them to an extent.

Yep, this is exactly us too--Noah even loves the clothes, shoes especially! Well, I have my ILs, but we still only see them about every other month and they don't usually have anything for Noah. He's lucky to even get birthday or Christmas presents from my family, seriously. I think it's only been for his 1st birthday and 1st Christmas they've gotten him anything. Oh well. Smile

Yes Yes Yes! I say fortunately and unfortunately Ava Douglas is so spoiled by so many people. I see my parents almost every day and Ava will walk in and ask where her surprise is.

My first ex MIL (Kayla's grandma) spoils her as well. She does it in a nice way though. Whenever she gets Kayla something she also gets Ava. Even though she's not related to her at all. And Ava likes to spend time with her so it works.
