When do you plan to put up your Christmas tree? Do you have an artificial one or do you get a real one?
Whenever it's dropped off. Our friends cut down trees from their acreage every year and then drop a few off on our driveway. DH takes whichever we don't want to the fire station. They usually cut them the day after Thanksgiving. I almost wish it were sooner. If Target has their Christmas decorations up, why can't I put mine up too?
I've been asking Justin the same thing. He usually does it the day after Thanksgiving, however, he will be recovering from surgery then and restricted from any heavy lifting. I told him he should do it this Sunday after Deacon's party but he said no. I never do the Christmas decorating so if its left up to me it won't happen.
I usually do it the day after Thanksgiving. I LOVE Christmas, but by the day after Christmas I'm ready to have my house back to normal. We have always had an artificial tree because of my cat. I think he would try to eat and climb a real one.
Here's another question: Do you prefer white or multi-color lights? Greg likes all of the color and I like the white. I think I'm going to purchase a new artificial tree this year and I think it'll be my turn to have the white lights.
well we already had our thanksgiving but I tend to wait until after Addi's BD (17th) so we'll probably put it up the weekend after that.
We have an artificial tree (the fire risk/mess with a real tree freaks me out, plus the expense of buying one every year). This year I'll have to buy a new one though, because my current one is only 6' tall and is falling apart, as it's 10 years old. Plus, I have a huge space to put it in now, with a 20' ceiling. A little rinky-dink tree would look goofy. I will finally have my dream--a TALL Christmas tree in my front window--I'm so stinking excited about it I can't stand it. Ours will go up the Saturday after Thanksgiving. And, white lights for inside, multi-color for exterior.
Do you guys go glam or more homemade/nostalgic with your ornaments? Mine are all mine and Andy's from when we were kids, what we've collected along the way and now new ones for Noah. I'd love to have the glam tree, but at the end of the day, it's just not me, although I'd like it to be, lol.
artificial pre-lite with white lights. Every year I do a new picture ornament for each kiddo. Last year the bottom half was decorated with non breakables. This year I'm sure it will be the same, but probably a baby fence around the bottom. Some year I will have a pretty tree again. I will put mine up sometime after Thanksgiving.

This is what our tree has become. When we first got married I bought a bunch of cheap ornaments just so there would be something on the tree and now I'm slowly throwing those away.
Tisha - Did you find her on top of that cart? LOL Was she trying to get something off of the tree? Great pic.
My sister put candy canes on the tree, and thought it would be safe to put them up high, lol. Lyla LOVES candy canes, so she found a way to get them by using her toy shopping cart.
That is a great - but scary - picture! You need that framed for sure!
We have an artificial tree. I'm so ready to get it up but I know it's too soon. DH will start to take the stuff out of the attic this weekend and next weekend and we will start decorating it on Thanksgiving Day and the day after. I LOVE decorating for Christmas.
we have a plastic tree because here hard to find a "nice" one we have alaskan black spruce only .... so I got one on sale after X-Mas couple yrs ago it is 4ft and go on the diner table .. kind of out of reach
all the "nice real tree" come from Washington state or Oregon and are very $$$ so we will stick to the plastic one for now....
We bought an artificial tree last year. I wouldn't mind having a real one, but spending $40 minimum on a tree each year seems silly! I'm thinking of putting ours up in the next few days. I know I'm going to get sick of it by Christmas, but I really want that done before the baby comes. All white lights over here.
if at all possible we go the day after t-giving. the tree farm we buy from is literally in our back yard so we drive around the corner and get home. we might even go on the weds before t-giving b/c dh works the 4 days after (leaves at dark home after dark so no time to go in the eve) I love decorating for the holidays, super excited!
It depends. . .I got very lax about Christmas trees when the girls got bigger, usally when Tiff wanted it up or came home from college. Now with Z I am trying to do better. Last year we did a Christmas tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving but this year we will be out of town.
I am not sure when we will do it though this year, if there is a chance we are moving before Christmas, we will probably wait.
We have an artifical one but some tiems get a real one. I think DH is planning a real one because someone at work's kid is doing a fund raiser. The tree comes in 12/2-- but it will probably just sit undecorated for awhile. LOL
I have an artifical tree & will prolly put it up the day after Thanksgiving! I may put it up before then...it'll depend on my mood. We buy the color lights that have different settings so we can change the way the lights blink
I've already started decorating for Christmas, and will probably put the tree up in the next two weekends. When we moved we figured why bother putting all the Christmas stuff up in the attic only to get it down a few weeks later, so we left it all in my DH's office. It's just sitting there waiting to be unpacked!
We have a pre-lit artificial tree with white lights. If it were me, I would have a real tree. I LOVE a real tree and growing up we always had one. I love the smell, and it is one of my favorite memories of Christmas to pick out the tree and get it put up, keep it watered, etc. DH thinks it's a pain. I hope when the kids get a little older I can convince him to get a real one.
Oh and our tree is totally old, homemade, passed down ornaments. I like it like that. Perfectly decorated trees are for department stores
