Do you have specific words you cannot spell, no matter how much you try? What are they?
Random question as I send out an email to a client today. I cannot --for the life of me --spell convenience or available without the aid of spell checker --and it usually takes me a few tries to even get close enough for spell checker to recognize what I am trying to spell
Please tell me I am not the only one out there who cannot spell without spell checkers?
same here...convenience is one for sure. There are more but I can't think of them off the top of my head. Its frustrating that I can't just memorize these words for some reason.
diarrhea! I have no idea how to spell that word! LOL And as a mother, it's amazing how many times you need to spell it! (for me, it's usually in an email to Jenn)
Also Wierd. Weird? I never have any idea if the e is first or the i is first. Isn't the rule "i before e except after c"?? But I think in the case of "weird", the e is actually first? I'm not even sure and I'm too lazy to google it. LOL But that one looks more correct at this moment.
I have spell check on the google bar on my browser and try to remember to check things before I post -- I am really a HORRIBLE speller.
I can't think of any off the top of my head right now but I always have to say the "i before e, except after c" in my head for most words that require it! The word receipt, I always find myself stopping to say that phrase for!
You guys named a few of mine plus recipe, cause I always want to add an extra e, conscious and cabinet, I like to add an extra in for some reason.
My *itch of an English teacher (who I love now that I remember all of these things) taught us that there is an ending to that saying, "i before e except after c... in words sounding E." So weird doesn't make a long e sound, so it doesn't apply. I have always found that useful! (Don't mean to be all teach-y but I thought it's a nice one to know )
I cannot spell anything. For reals. Spelling and grammer are not my strong points.
I suck at spelling some words too! Can't think of anything right now. I use to spell definitely with an a...definately & my mom use to call me out on it all the time & eventually I corrected it...LOL
See, here is where I reveal to you JUST how much I suck at English. "wierd" doesn't make a long e sound??????? I guess I don't know what a long e sound is cause I thought it did. Yep, I'm officially a dumby numby
