How do you store your photos after you take them off your camera? Do you organize them in a certain way? How often do you print photos?

I have folders that I organize mine in on my computer. BUT... I haven't taken pics off my camera in a LONG time, I've been putting it off forever b/c I can't figure out how I want to organize them since Lauren was born. I'll be looking for ideas what others do. I used to print every so often for scrapbooking but I haven't done that in forever either!

I take a million pictures (mostly with my cell phone these days), I do a crappy job of storing them and I hardly ever print them. A couple of weeks ago I had almost 1,500 pictures and videos on my iPhone and it wouldn't let me take any more video because I was out of space so I finally went through and deleted a bunch of old pictures that I had already dumped on the computer (no idea why they were still on my phone). But I still have something like 1,100 pictures and video on my phone so it hasn't gotten much better. When I dump stuff from my phone or camera onto the computer, it puts it into a folder in the photo or video libraries labeled with the date and then I usually add a label with the months the pictures were taken. So I have, in general, one folder for every 2-3 months. I was way more organized when Sophia was a baby, of course. 2nd babies always get the shaft Wink At least I know I have all the pictures so if I can ever get my act together, I can actually do something with them. I just can't decide if I want to do real scrapbooking (which takes forever and I will never get caught up) or digital scrapbooking (which to me is not as cute, but much faster).

I have a million different folders on my computer that I subcategorize by subject. Lately, I've been lazy and just break the pictures up into year and season...Winter 2012, Spring 2012....

I almost never print pictures. Even our professional pictures from this year and last, I have yet to print other than a few 4 X 6's. I need to do that soon.

I am really bad about printing pictures. I like to upload them to a photo printing website, instead of doing it in store. And the stores quality is so crappy anyways, I hate standing in line, getting there and the machine is down, etc. However, our computer is SO SLOW w/uploading that I haven't done it in forever. It literally takes minutes to upload 1 picture. Ridiculous.

I am good about storing them though. I organize them into folders like "Summer 2011" or "Christmas 2010" or "Miles 0-3 months" etc and then transfer them onto a flash drive before deleting them off my camera (just incase my computer crashes).

I am pretty organized on my computer. I have to be with all of the photos I deal with. (Being organized on my mac is a million times easier than my old pc!) I do the same as you Ashley, I organize them by season. Business pictures have a whole other folder and are categorized by family within that folder.

I get big pictures printed, but I'm really bad about little pictures. Surprisingly though, I don't take many everyday pictures. I need to more. I did just get an album printed of the session I did with the boys (of Colby in my siggy). And I LOVE that album! And I'm ordering a huge frame to put the two of them together in Smile Can't wait.

I'm debating getting smugmug. I need an online backup that I don't have to worry about.

My husband is all into photography, and because of that, he is horrible at snapshots. For him, everything has to be right in order to take a picture...the lighting, the appeture (sp), blah blah blah. He spends so much time adjusting the settings on the camera (because we don't have an expensive camera, so you actually have to adjust the settings to get what you want), that the moment is gone. If it was up to him we would have no "everyday" pictures and I'm always trying to explain to him "I'm trying to capture the MOMENT...I don't care if it's a fantastic picture!!" LOL So I can, in a way, understand why a photographer would maybe not take a lot of everyday shots. Do you want every shot to be just right, since that is your art? Or maybe I'm way off ha ha
