When is the last time you and dh went out just the 2 of you? A couple of weeks ago
What did you do? We went to dinner with another married couple and watched a band.
Who watched the kids? My mom...She and my grandmother are my only babysitters
When will you go again? DH is out of town so we're going to celebrate V-day when he gets home next week

We try to have a date night at least once a month. Even if it's just a cheap dinner and a movie. DH and I make our marriage a priority and having time to "re-connect" without the distration of kids is a must. I think so many people get caught up with the daily demands of life, work, and kids and just don't have that much left over at the end of the day. It's so worth it to have a happy marriage and in return I feel like DH and I are better parents because of it.

Well, we were out by ourselves on Saturday but I wouldn't consider it a date or anything. I had to work so we got a babysitter. I dropped DH off at Panera near my job to study and I went to work for a few hours. Then I went over to Panera and he and I went through the lease agreement for our other house which we are going to be leasing out starting March 1st, then we went to a battery store to get the battery replaced in one of my watches.

While I do agree with Ashley about making marriage a priority, it's just not that simple when you have no family nearby. We paid $80 for 7 hours away on Saturday. Last time we had a date night it cost us $50, just in babysitter payment, not counting dinner, movie, or whatever (which in and of itself costs an arm and a leg!). I love our babysitter so I don't mind paying her good money, but it's just not reasonable for us to do it very often for the amount of money it costs. DH and I are both night owls and we get our kid-free time after the kids go to bed (at home). You just have to be creative and do what you can.

We last went out for a "date" right before Miles' birthday. My parents came over to watch Miles (and Vivi wasn't born yet). We went to Toys R Us and bought Miles' birthday gift, and ate dinner at Old Chicago.

We don't go very often, but really should start (when I'm done nursing maybe?). We use dh's mom or my parents for babysitters. Carrie, we would NEVER go on dates if we had to pay that much for babysitting, YIKES. I do really like your family date night idea. Biggrin

We went out in Dec for my birthday. My mom watches the kids. We went to eat at our favorite restaurant and spent way too much money, but we barely EVER get to go out, so I think it's okay to splurge when we do. And we're going there again tonight for early Valentine's Day! We forgot to make any reservations anywhere tomorrow, so hopefully it will be easy to get a table, or I would even just like to sit at the bar for happy hour deals tonight.

We have a lot of weddings coming up in the upcoming months in Napa, so we'll be dropping the kids off at MILs for a few weekends. So we'll have lots of date nights.

Carrie, I love your family date night idea too. I was thinking we might go bowling on Valentine's Day as a family. I would never pay that much for babysitting either!

We went out on Wednesday night for dinner - - just the two of us. It was so nice! My MIL keeps Josh every Wednesday anyway, so we just asked her if she would keep him for a few extra hours while we went out. Greg works late every Friday night so that night is out for date night - - actually it's Mommy and Josh night. Smile The in-laws or my parents are our babysitters and I'm so thankful to be near them, I don't know what I'd do without them. We went shopping yesterday for a little while and my parents came over to hang out with Josh, but I wouldn't call that a date. Our next date will be this Friday (he took off just for this occasion) to go see one of my co-workers band play at a local bar.

It is very important to make time for just us, however, I get major mommy guilt for leaving Josh some times. It's something I've struggled with since he was born. I try though.

We went out the last weekend of January -DSD Ash watched Zayden. She was out of town both weekends we were moving so she felt guilty and offered to babysit! LOL We went out for wine and cheese and a few drinks! It was fun.

We want to try go get out more often but it is hard because other than the girls, we have no family in town. With Age having a baby and Ash being further away, we want to start finding a babysitter but the cost is definitely a factor.

Oh, I forgot to say that our next "date night" will be March 10th, we are going to a suprise birthday party for our neighbor. It's a 60's party, and we are supposed to dress up. I hate dressing up, but we will have to come up with something so we are not perceived as the Party Poopers of the neighborhood! ha ha

And yes we do have family date night every Friday night and I LOVE IT. This Friday we were at a restaurant and this random older guy came up to us while we were eating and said "I don't know what you guys are doing, but you're doing something right" and then went on and on about how happy and well behaved our kids were and how nice it was to see us out eating together. HA! totally random, but I do love that we have kept that up pretty much no matter what because the kids love it and so do we.

Kristen, bowling would be fun! We have never taken Sophia bowling and I know she would LOVE it. We need to do that!

Dawn, I never feel guilty because Sophia loves her babysitter so much she practically pushes us out the door. Literally, on Saturday it took us a few minutes to leave and Sophia was like "mommy, aren't you guys leaving yet?" LOL it also helps that she loves her so much when I have to pay her an arm and a leg. ha ha

I wish I didn't feel guilting. It's not that Josh cares - - he loves being with his Grandparents, it's totally my problem. LOL DH doesn't mind getting a sitter. IDK I'll get over one day I guess. Smile

Dawn, I feel guilty too. I go out shopping by myself sometimes (okay, I used to, I haven't done this in a long time!) and after 3 hours I'm ready to be home and calling to check in. After those few hours I just don't even enjoy myself anymore because all I can think about is getting back home soon. And that's when Miles is home with dh, lol.

Carrie, you HAVE to go bowling! Maybe this Friday's date!? Miles loves it and asks to go all the time!

This is me too, but it's not because I feel guilty, it's because the longer DH is with the kids by himself, the worse mood he is in when I come home! LOL So after 2+ hours, I start to get really ansy (sp?) and feeling like I need to rush and get home, because I know pretty soon I'm going to get a call and it's going to either be him or Sophia on the other end saying "Mommy, you're taking too long!" ha ha

When is the last time you and dh went out just the 2 of you? The last time we went on a date night was in early october
What did you do? We went to Kansas City. Geez, I don't even remember the main reason for going there. I do know we went out to dinner, and went to a casino.
Who watched the kids? my sister
When will you go again? no plans. I would love another date night, but are weekends are booked through the end of April.

Our last date night was the weekend after my birthday (birthday was on Thanksgiving, so late November). We went to dinner and a movie.
Not sure when the next one is. We definately need to start doing a regular date night.
Although maybe it'll be tomorrow night! I jokingly asked DH at supper tonight what he was making me for supper tomorrow for v-day and he says you'll just have to wait and see. So I have no idea what he has planned! I figured we were just hanging out at home so we'll see! Smile

If we go anywhere my mom or MIL watch the girls. Mostly my mom.

We almost always do a family lunch every friday.

It wasnt really a date but jus and I were out in public alone together yesterday and today while my mom and granny watched the kids. Yesterday we went furniture shopping and today we went to his surgery follow up appt and then more furniture shopping. Both times we went out to eat and it was date-ish, lol.

We were discussing you Carrie, how you pay your sitter on top of the cost of going out. If that was us we would have to get a sitter and sit in our car because there is no way we could pay for a sitter and a date, lol.

When is the last time you and dh went out just the 2 of you? Before yesterday...I don't even remember. Maybe November sometime?
What did you do? We would have gone to dinner and a movie, I would guess
Who watched the kids? My MIL
When will you go again? We actually got to go yesterday, for VDay. Smile Noah went to school, I stayed for his party, then I went home and got DH (he was working from home) and we went to lunch and Target. If that hadn't happened, I couldn't even tell you when the next time would be. We either pay for a babysitter (OUCH!) or MIL watches Noah. But I HATE to ask MIL to watch him because I feel like I'm putting her out, so we only ask about once every 3 months or so. And I hate paying for a babysitter, so we very rarely go that route (like 3 times ever).
