I have a 99 Mustang and looked at the odometer today and I almost have 199k miles YIKES! I think it only had 30k when I got it ten years ago? Im driving almost 17,000 miles a year! Gesh!

And yes I need a new car LOL But DH says I need to replace it with a practical mommy car and I LOVE my five speed, manual transmission sports car wanna be so I keep putting it off!

I have a 2007 Honda Pilot, fully loaded with leather (heated) seats, navigation system (but maps are outdated so we don't use it), rear-backing camera, sunroof, etc. I love my car and will drive it until it's dead Wink It has 102,000 miles and it happens to be in the shop today getting a $1,400 timing belt package so that it will run for another 100,000. I only have a little more than 1 year of car payments left on that car and then we will be home free. We bought it right before we had Sophia (used, it had 40,000 miles on it when we bought it).

DH always says "as soon as I get a better job I'm going to buy you a better car and I'll drive this" and I'm like I DON'T WANT A BETTER CAR! I love my car. He thinks I should be driving a Lexus or something, cars mean much more to him then they do to me.

I think my car has 22K on it, bought it in 2009? I have a GMC Acadia and I LOVE it! DH wants to switch/sell/buy all our cars and I don't want to, I change the subject every time!

I have a 1992 Acura Integra with 230k miles on it. Manual transmission. I'm the 3rd owner and bought it about 13 years ago. It's still got a tape deck, no CD player, forget about mp3, etc. Hah. I love it. It works fine, so not sure when we'll replace it. I use it to drive the 4 miles to work and back, and occasionally for errands. We use DH's car for longer rides and avoid using my car with Aasha whenever possible.

This is us too. When we go out we always take DH's Excusion --cause with Z's car seat, no one can sit in my front seat cause i have to have it pushed all the way forward. LOL Zayden is only in my car for a drive to school in the morning, pretty much no other time.

Wow, Shelly, you win for longest running car! And Acuras are great cars...I was telling DH I don't see very many of them on the road anymore!

Amy, I laughed when I read your reply to Shelly because I was trying to figure out what the heck kind of car your DH had....my eyes read "Execution" and I was like okay that does not sound like a car I would want to drive! LOL

I have an 05 Chrysler Pacifica....it's my Mommy minivan without the sliding doors. It has so much room...I love it. I think I have about 84k miles on it. It's paid off and is in perfect condion and I plan to drive it until it dies. LOL

I love minivans! I loved them when I was young and didn't have kids. I think it's 'cos I'm short and I love the height they give me.

Carrie, you know Acura = Honda, which is why Acuras are great and why I got that car. I swear, unless you get super unlucky, your Pilot will last a while. My mechanic talks about Hondas he sees, in this area where we don't get snow, lasting up to a million miles. Crazy.

I have a 2007 Toyota Camry with almost 90K miles on it. I bought it almost 2 years ago, used, with 45K miles on it. I do not like it very much at all. It's a total lemon when it comes to the interior and the body. The engine and components are great, but seriously, the car is falling apart around it. The passenger visor fell off, the CD player doesn't work, there's a hole in the front bumper and now I have a huge dent in the trunk. I traded in my Envoy for it and regret it every.single.day. I was spending so much in gas on my Envoy that I just couldn't afford it anymore, so I got this. Even though I'm not happy with it, I'm going to keep it for a few more years until it's paid off and I can save for a new vehicle. I love Kristen's Acadia, so that's kind of what I have in mind for my next one.

Shelly in my mind you are really tall! How funny! Wink How tall are you? I feel like you looked tall in your Christmas pic (even though you were sitting down)...maybe just cause you are so perfectly thin Wink

Oh yes I am ALL about Honda and Toyota. Before this I had a Toyota Tacoma, it had 150,000+ miles on it and I cried when I traded it in for my Pilot!! I only traded it in because I couldn't put a carseat in it and I was 6 months pregnant. But also, DH hated it that I drove a truck and told me trucks are for men.

As much as I hate the idea, I do think I will have to start looking for a new car eventually --probably a hybrid? The gas for my new commute is going to kill me!

Carrie: I'm 5'2". That's funny/odd your DH thinks trucks are for men. Do you know why he thinks that?

Amy: how long is your commute now?

Hmm, its about 25 miles from home to Zayden's school, drop him off, then 8 miles to work (back tracking of course --I pretty much drive right by my office on my way to Zayden's school) then 17 miles home (but stop and go traffic Sad ) So a total of 50 miles per day plus any driving I do during the day or if I go to Court. My car is old so it seems like I am using 1/4 or more a tank each day.

I have a 2008 Toyota Highlander. It has 40,000 miles. Maybe it's a 2007? It's been an awesome car! I really like it. Smile

I also still have the second car I bought, a 1997 Honda Civic. It has 197K miles on it and still gets 40 miles to the gallon. It hasn't even had the timing belt changed. Nothing, but oil changes. DH wants to rebuild the engine, just to see what kind of milage it gets after that since he uses it to go back and forth to the airport. I love it so much, I don't think I'd ever part with it, even though I could sell it now for what I paid for it 10 years ago.

We just got a Chrysler Town and Country minivan 3 weeks ago! I love it!! Like Carrie's it is loaded with back up camera, heated seats, DVD system (LOVE!) Its a 2011, used with 28,000 miles. We traded in my Chevy Equinox. It was just too small for 2 kids and all their stuff. I love that we can now take people with us.

I drive the same car I bought when I was 16. A 1995 Geo Prism. It's got just over 200,000 miles on it. It's very crowded w/2 carseats now, but I don't drive very often so it's fine. It has been a great car - gets great mileage, has never needed anything major done to it, and... it's SUPER paid off. LOL!

Dang, Amber, I can't believe your timing belt has not gone out yet! The Honda dealership (of course, dealerships are always crooks) has been trying to get me to replace mine since 75,000 miles. I did some research and decided I could stretch it to 100,000. Beyond that, you really risk major engine damage if it breaks before it's replaced. You have been super lucky!

Dh is super handy, and his Dad is a mechanic so G does all our car repairs/maintance himself. The timing belt is on our list, and has been for sometime. DH is just not around much to do it. Expecially since he wants to redo the engine the same time, since he has to pull it to get to the timing belt anways. I don't worry much about it since it's an extra car at this point. DH drives it more than I do, so if it broke, it would be while he had it and he'd know what to do. I would be shocked if it did before we got around to replacing it though. My little Honda is a tank!

My first car had a timing belt go out, and that majorly sucked. It was so expensive to get repaired and took forever to figure out what was wrong with it. That car broke down all the time though, seriously it hated me. If I washed it, it broke. But my if my Dad or G did, it was fine. We lived in the mountains and cell phones were fairly new. We had a little service, but my car would always break down in the only spots I did not have cell service. it sucked being 16 and stranded on a mountain road at night, just waiting for a passer by to take pity and help me. (Thankfully they always did and I lived to tell the tale) I was not sad to see that car go.

ETA: My highlander, however, I will make sure the timing belt gets replaced on time. This is my first Toyota, and even though they make good cars, I just don't trust them as much as I do the Honda name.

We have a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan, with 40,000 miles. We got it new, and the sales man convinced us that the dvd players were a rip off because the cost another $1,ooo. I really wish I would have gotten the dvd player, because I can't stand cords. Shelly- my 2007 has a cassette player and a cd player. I love that we can load the van down with camping gear, 2 kids, and our 100lb dog.

I put more miles on my cars in a year than you have out on yours in 3 years, lol.

I have a 2012 Escape. I have no idea how many miles are on it since I haven't be driving it lately. Maybe close to 9k or 10k? And like Jessica I traded in m Flex for better gas mileage and totally miss the room I had. The escape is pretty maxed out now with 2 carseats and all the crap you carry when you have a baby. But considering I'm spending less than half of the money I was spending on gas I won't complain too much.

Justin drives a Nissan 350z so we have no option of ever taking his car anywhere. Even on a date night we would have to use mine to drop off the kids at my moms and then go home to get his, so it just sits in the garage and he drives it 15 miles a day, round trip, to and from work.

Oh and all you minivan mommas....I'm jealous! I've been trying to convince Justin to trade in his car for a minivan and he can have the escape. He says we will never own one :(. I love how easy they're to haul kids in.

Seriously, is it that far? How funny, in my mind he has like a 2 mile commute. LOL Apparently I underestimate how long R (your big street) is.

Since I also thought Shelly was like 5'9", clearly my estimating skills are off. ha ha

R is 4 miles and heading up the highway is about 3. So it's between 14-15 miles a day. Crazy.

Tisha- Mine came with a cassette player too! So weird for a newer car considering they don't make cassettes anymore! I wish I had a tape to stick in there! lol!
