For anyone who gets the groupons or similar deals --how often do you actually use them on time?

I am HORRIBLE at this. For awhile I was getting Groupons for these amazing deals --but would forget to use them. I have probably 10 gropuons that have expired that I never used Sad Yes I know they are still valid for the price you paid for them but that is never quite as good a deal. Now I think long and hard about getting Groupons SIGH.

I didn't know that!! I only missed out on one. Were actually going to a waterpark in Niagra falls soon with a groupon.

I have never let one expire but I also have only bought maybe 5 or so ever? I can't stand the thought of wasting money so I would pretty much kill myself before I would let one expire. LOL I also didn't know they were worth anything once they were expired...I thought you completely lost your money?

Just looked it up and it appears it might vary by state as far as how long you can use it (Good to know, Thanks Amy!!):

What happens if my Groupon expires?

All is not lost! Once a Groupon reaches its expiration date, it loses its promotional value, but you can still redeem it at the price you paid for the length of time stated by gift certificate laws in your state.

Yes it is somewhat a state to state thing but I have been reading in some legal journals that it should be nationwide as it comes under a part of the credit card protection act passed a few years ago. There were several lawsuits regarding that so I think its in the process of changing?

I HATE wasting money but need to find a better way to keep track of when they expire Sad

Amy, I get an email when mine are going to expire in a few days...do you get an email? It has saved me a couple of times.

Yep, we're really good about using them--I LOVE Groupon and our local e-coupons, Deal Chicken. We give them to friends if we find out we can't use them in time.

I have never had one expire - although I have one that is close now but I am using it next week.

I bought a dinner cruise and they had to extend the deadline because of the drought. They weren't able to get the boat out of the mud and muck so they had to give us 6 more months to use it in hopes of rain. So sad.

I've never used a Groupon, or similar coupon.

I've only bought them for businesses I already know and go to regularly, so I always use them on time. We don't have Groupon in our town, but we have GotDailyDeals, which is similar. I only buy them for the bakery we love.

I've only ever bought 2, & I let one of them go to waste. I haven't used the other one yet. I'll have to see if I can use the paid value for the one that expired. Thx for that info.

Shelly -- in California that is required. Gift cards (including Groupons) cannot expire at least for the face value.

We have SO many her in San Diego, Groupon, Living Social, our newpaper has one, several others do too. There are some amazing deals --when it first started I bought several that I didn't use. Now I am trying to be more cautious.
