weekend chatter

What are you up to this weekend? I hope that those of you in the path of Hurricane Irene stay safe! I know we have a few of you over there.

We are finally getting new carpet today and this weekend we will get our house back in order. Last night we brought 2 full bedrooms into the living room so our entire house looks like a scene from HOARDERS. I'm so excited to get home and see the new carpet and to have the chance to set up the kids' rooms. I may run to Ikea to get some things to decorate and I need storage too.

Its Claires 5th Birthday tomorrow. Shes going to be "a whole hand" ROFL thats what shes been telling total strangers all week. Shes so excited. I might have to drug her to get her to sleep tonight LOL.

So today I'm finishing the cake and getting everything ready to go, were having it at my BFF's house since she has a huge back yard with a pool. There are going to be like 18 kids there, plus parents  I asked that the parent(s) stay since its a pool party and the kids are 4-5 years old so I invited siblings too. So really she only invited 8 friends, but most have atleast one sibling, and one has two. SO it will be buys, but fun. Were just ordering pizza... and having munchies, trying to keep it simple....lol

Sunday we will relax Wink One more week and school starts... can't believe how fast the summer went by.

Jenn, I want to go to IKEA so let me know if you decide to go and I'll see if I can meet you there!

I'll be packing, of course, doing some things at the new place, and I want to take Sophia swimming at the new pool since there are only two weekends left before it closes.

We're in the path of Irene, so today DH is coming home early to start putting stuff that's in the yard in our shed, then probably head to the store for "storm" stuff like batteries, water, and all that. Then we're pretty much inside for the weekend to sit out the storm. Hopefully it won't knock out power for long!

This weekend is (finally) about getting errands run, house back to normal, and attacking our to do list. DH needs to do my brakes and put the back struts on his truck so I don't break his window again (I bought them for him two months ago). We need to do a bunch of running around to get things for Z for school. I want to clean out our pantry -- I want to try to start swtiching to more organic healthy fresh foods but first I need to use up all the stuff we have in our pantry/freezer. Im sure some of its expired too. Need to go through Zayden's closet and clean out all his outgrown stuff, etc.

So busy --though I am hoping for some sleep too!

MIL leaves today. It wasn't bad! (Except we caught her smoking once.) But tomorrow will be just me and the boys. We'll go to Farmers Market, nap, usual routine. Sunday my cousin is coming and DH comes home! Should be a good weekend Smile

Kim - sounds fun but glad its you and not me throwing a birthday party right now. LOL

Carrie - Sure! Once I get home tonight I'll see how much needs to be done. If its not much maybe we can go Saturday. If I have a lot to do it will be Sunday.

Tanya - Oh how I remember the day of Hurricane prep. I hope you guys get some good supplies at the store. By the time we got there every shelf was basically empty. I ended up eating Frito Pie for 12 days for lunch because it was one of my only options. LOL At least I was pg at the time and loved that meal.

Jus just text me a pic of the nursery with the new carpet - I may as well show it now before everyone else starts showing off their new home pics and makes this look like nothing, LOL

Sorry its huge:

Tanya (all you other on the East coast) you probably know all this already but
FILL UP ALL RECIPIENT, TUB, SINK with water before you go to bed if you still have power have a bag with a mim cloth for all you 3 just in case (some snack food too)... do you have a basement???? if yes plan to go down there, but mattress and blnquets, food and water and light source.... ready for you to just go down there and wait...

Take all the knife and sharp object and put them in a strong box SAFE away from bedroom/house..

I'll be thinking of all of you this week end

Love the new carpet Jenn! It's as if you're almost getting a new house too with all the decorating you'll be doing Wink

I want to go to Ikea but it's about an hour and a half north and I just haven't had extra money to spend on non-necessities.

We are also preparing for Hurricane Irene. We have enough D batteries to choke a horse LOL the other day we went to Costco, 2 Targets, Walmart and Kmart and no one had them. I ended up finding them hidden at a Target near me so I bought 24 of them. We have an LED lantern, lots of bottled water, gas for the grill, can foods and box drinks for Ava. We should be ok unless it hits us like Isabelle did in 03. They have said that it should be similar but then change reports so we will just have to hunker down and wait and see. Hopefully, if we lose power I'll have my cell phone so I can at least get on facebook.

Today Dh and I are discussing whether or not I keep looking for a job or go back to school. I'm not sure which I want to do. If I get a job then there is money for me to spend on trips (cough cough Jenn) and things for the house and the girls but I've applied for so many jobs and have heard nothing. If I go back to school then I will be able to find a job in the area of study after graduation easier.

Yikes, how scary all of you have to prepare! Please keep us posted on how you're all doing...

Today is our 5 year wedding anniversary. My parents are coming over this evening to watch Miles while we go out to eat. I'm so excited to eat something other than Chicken Strips and French Fries!! I usually get that when we go out so I can share with Miles, lol. Now I'm waiting for dh to get home from his bike ride so I can go to the jewelry store to get my wedding ring cut off. I have been trying for days and it's just not coming off my swollen fingers. Nothing else planned the rest of the weekend.

Happy Anniversary Ashley! I hope you splurge on your dinner Smile That stinks you have to have your wedding rings cut off. Are you going to have them resized? Or, just wait until after the baby is born?

Tanya and Mel - Good luck with the hurricane! We'll be praying for you guys!!

Mel - That stinks that you don't get to just keep staying home with Ava Sad I'm all for trips, since I might get to see you too Wink but school sounds a little more fun than work. What would you study? How long is the program? It sounds like a tough decision.

Ashley - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! I hope you get something WAY BETTER than chicken fingers and french fries for dinner. lol And my wedding ring still doesn't since about half way through my pregnancy with Sophia. It never fit between Sophia and Layla! I should probably break down and get it resized, but I'm too dang stubborn.

Jenn - as I already told you in email I'm dying to come roll around on that plush new carpet! I love clean soft carpet and I'm a little sad that we won't have any Sad I will be rolling around on cold hard floors.

Kris - I thought MIL stopped smoking??? Is she a closet smoker now or what?

Magali - good luck at the remote land! I hope all the rain comes to us and leaves you alone!

Carrie: I agree with you on all. If I went back to school I would def. do something in the medical field simply b/c there is always a need for it. I couldn't do nursing but I was thinking of xray tech and do ultrasounds.

I've always been an administrative assistant and there just doesn't seem to be a high demand for that type of job anymore

Mel - during Hurricane Ike I thought I would lose my mind if the news casters didn't stop using the term Hunker Down. It was so annoying! I hope they don't do that with you guys. And I agree - traveling is better than anything - get out there and get on the road!

Carrie - you can roll down your stairs - they will have carpet! Just maybe put a pillow on the last floor to kept from hitting your head.

Ashley - where are you guys going for dinner? I'm eager to hear what you order now. I've stopped ordering food for Deacon and he can either eat off my plate or get bread and butter for dinner - he is too picky. He will whine for chicken nuggets every day and when he gets them he says "I don't want chicken nuggets!" UGH

We are in direct line of Hurricane Irene also. We are as prepared as can be right now. I couldn't find D batteries at all so I bought little flash lights for the girls that use AA Batteries, I have two large battery operated Lights and also I bought some solar power lights that I'm going to leave on the window ledges to make light at night in case we loose power.

I have the basement all lined up with towels since we flood when it drizzles this is going to be bad for me. I put the girls bikes in the shed and tied a tarp around our outside table that has glass and tipped it over so that it will hopefully stay on the ground. I also put the girls swing set on it's side.

DH will not be home with us since he and his job decided it's more important for him to be in the city keeping his job under control. I hope to God we are all safe and he doesn't live to regret his decisions.

I will be on here as much as possible for as long we have power.

Also, decided to start potty training Gabby!

Happy Anniversery Ashley! Sorry about your ring though! Will it be salvagable?

Mel, I agree, I don't see a huge demand for admins any more as with technology (and the economy) thats been more and more eliminated. The medical field however is exploding! Good luck!

I will be thinking and praying for all of you in hurricane land. I have talked to my dad daily (in NC).

Lori you sound well prepared! Sorry DH won't be around to help!

Thanks everyone, it looks like Irene weakened just a tad but still expecting a rough sunday. Lori be safe, it must be stressful being home alone with the kids knowing a storm is coming, hopefully it'll continue to weaken!

Jenn, the carpet looks great! I love the smell of new carpet.

Kim, happy Birthday to Claire tomorrow! Hope you guys are getting some sleep tonight...lol. I can't believe she's 5 already!

Kristen, I had to laugh when I read that you caught her smoking once. Do you think you stressed her out so much she had to have one?! ROFL

Mel, that is a tough decision! I think you should stay home just a little bit longer! Wink

Amy, you sound busy this weekend! Yes, my ring will be salvageable. I got it cut off this afternoon. They did a nice clean cut in the back of the band. Said it'll be about $40 to repair. They'll resize it and clean it at the same time. The cutting of it was free, so that was nice! I'm going to wait until Jan/Feb to have it repaired though.

We were going to go to a place called Granity City Brewery (not sure if you all have that?) but it was jam packed so we went to a little hole in the wall...Bravo Burritos. LOL! It was so good though and we didn't have to wait long. That's someplace we'll never go if we have Miles with since he wouldn't eat anything on the menu! I had a Fajita Dinner, basically a plate with rice, refried beans (yuck!), guac, salsa, homemade chips, chicken, lettuce, and you build your own fajitas. Then since dinner was quicker than we thought, we went to Kohl's and I got a few things for the baby for next Summer which was all clearanced. I got 3 or 4 outfits for $12 total! I looked for things for Miles but they didn't have much for boys in his size.

Glad you had a nice dinner out Ashley. I love going to places that we wouldn't go with the girls so we can have a nice meal and not worry about what they picky girls will eat. Since I started Weight Watchers we haven't really eaten out and I love it. I've been cooking every night and making really good and easy things. It keeps me creative and busy. Thursday night I made Cheesesteak Egg Rolls and mozzarella sticks!

I am so anxious today with this hurricane coming. I'm trying to be calm and optimistic and not scare the girls, but inside I am a wreck. I still can't believe DH is leaving us here alone but I guess it will just make me stronger!

As long as we have power I will keep updating.

Lori & Tanya, thinking of you this weekend.

Carrie & Ash, We went out to Mexican dinner and had margaritas. When we got home, Donnie and I were lying in bed and smelled smoke. I said it must be her, I'd never smelled anything like that in our home, we just don't live that close to anybody else. So he went outside and caught her! She said it because because she was drinking. I guess she's doing pretty well considering the doctor made her quit cold turkey 2 weeks ago.

First night last night by myself with both kids. We did pretty well! Today we're going to go to Farmers Market and the park to hopefully tire Jackson out so that we can take naps Smile
