Anyone want to lose weight with me?

I have 30 lbs to lose to get to my pre- pregnancy weight. Eek!!! I am planning on a half marathon in May and going to WDW that month too. I'd like to lose 20 lbs by then.

I'm going to watch my calorie intake and run 3-4 times a week. I lost baby weight last time by doing this. My body clings to fat for dear life while breastfeeding. I'm not one of those lucky gals who loses just from that.

This holiday season combined with being tired and unmotivated has caused me to GAIN weight. Yuck.

Anyone want to lose with me? Maybe we can do a weekly weigh in to keep ourselves accountable?

Together we can do it! Come join me!!

I'm in! I weigh myself every Friday morning. Today I'm 4 weeks PP and weighed in at 162.8 and 135-140 is where I was pre-preg and where I need to get back to! 1 week PP I was 167.6 so I'm losing but I'm so grossly flabby too. UGH! I need to get motivated to walk/run a couple times a week and I need to cut the junk out.

And on a different note I'm trying to convince DH we should go to Disney but he thinks it will be too much with a 2.5 y.o and a 6 mo old but our older son LOVES Mickey......

wow katie we must be twins Wink i weighed in at 164 today and need to get to the same range. i was 135 before i got pregnant. i actually was down to 161.5 two weeks ago but have been on a holiday binge. gross.

we'll motivate each other. let's keep the friday weigh in going. for anyone else that wants to join - we can just report as "lost 1.5 lbs" rather than our real weight if it makes anyone uncomfortable.

katie - GO TO DISNEY! i can help you plan. until three months ago i was a disney travel agent. i stopped doing it because i didn't really have enough time to keep up with all my clients but i still do it for fun now. i'm happy to help. thomas who just turned 2.5 in december has been to disney 5 times already! it is the EASIEST vacation to do with little ones! and they are free until they're 3 so even better! i can't wait to take the baby there in may. they are even easier as infants. just stick them in an ergo or whatever carrier you have and they are happy as a clam Smile

for me, the healthy living starts new year's day. i should just start now but who am i kidding? it's friday! pizza night! Wink

counting calories seems to work best for me. anytime i go on a diet that states you can have "unlimited" anything it never works out for me. i'd sit there and eat a 2 lb bag of carrots or something. so, i try to stick to a certain number of calories a day. i also try to keep it lower carb too - i have insulin resistance and really should follow the diabetic diet.

If some folks just want to chime in with what they're doing to be healthy that's cool too -- I know some people don't weigh themselves at all. I, however, have to or I won't be accountable LOL I have very little willpower. I don't count calories per say but I find it most effective to write down everything I eat b/c I have a bad habit of grabbing a handful of this or some of that when I'm not even hungry.

Ohh Disney sound very fun! We keep going back and forth on where to take our vacation this year. Evan LOVES Mickey. Like I probably shouldn't admit how obsessed he is b/c I'm pretty sure it makes me a bad mom for letting him watch so much Wink Don't judge me haha DH is a big weenie about flying there etc with 2 kids.....he has no sense of adventure!

I'm in! I need to tone and tighten. I'd like to lose 30 more pounds. Some things I will be doing are: cooking at home more often, avoiding processed foods, and exercising. I'm thinking about buying the Total Gym. Yes, the one endorsed by Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley. I know it sounds lame!

ME! Thanks for starting this Katie. I think we can keep each other accountable AND keep in contact Smile

I don't want to say how much I weigh right now...but 165 would be a great weight for me and I've got a ways to go to get there, lol.

I'm not much of a moderation girl. I need to do a diet with strict guidelines - aka no grains - to be successful, otherwise I tend to blow it. If I set out to just "eat healthy," I'll eat WAY too many healthy or semi-healthy foods, KWIM? In terms of exercise, I'd love to do crossfit or boxing lessons but I don't know that we can afford it. I'm going to get back into weight training and "barefoot" running for sure, though.

well, since the diet starts tomorrow, it makes total sense that i'd eat THREE cupcakes after we got home from a stressful trip to the in-laws tonight, right?? ugh.

i'm weighing in tomorrow and getting back on the wagon. haven't had my 6 week post partum check up yet but i'm feeling fine and may go for a short run or walk to get things going. must eat healthy too and in moderation!

ME! I definately want to shed the rest of this baby weight. I am not one to tell my weight outright (haha that sounds so lame!)... but I would like to lose 20lbs. Before having kids, I weighed 145lbs (at 5'8"), so that is my goal weight.... I have lost 22lbs since having Logan, still have another 10lbs to go from him, and then the 10lbs from having the other two (I could not for the life of me shed the last 10lbs). I am thinking of doing the couch-5k program (it is an app. on my iphone)... and in the New Year (which is today I suppose!), I want to cut out refined sugars, and stop eating chips. Oh man, chips are my weakness. In general I want to feed my family healthy foods... we have cut out sugared cereals in the morning, and eat Cheerios, Chex, and gluten free cereals. My dh has Chrons Disease, so I really want to change our eating habits to help him, and us too.
At this point I have no energy to work out or go running (life is crazy with 3 under 4!), and well, Logan is only 5 wks old... so I will start with eating healthier. Smile

hi julie - welcome aboard!

the c25k program is awesome! i started with that the summer before last and just kept going! i ran my first half marathon last february. i'm hoping to pick back up with the program and do another half marathon in may. love the c25k.

happy birthday! a new year's baby! enjoy the day - we'll pick you up on the weight loss wagon tomorrow!

***
happy new year everyone!

i'm getting serious with the weight loss. DH and i both weighed in this morning. it was BAD. we both need to get back on the wagon asap. i went out for an hour walk today. i can't believe it was hard work just to walk. and here i'm planning on a half marathon in may! it'll be tough but i can do it.

my exercise plan is : monday and wednesday i'll go back to the aerobics class at the club where my aunt and uncle belong. it's 5 bucks a class for non-members and a good and fun workout. DH will be home by then and can watch the kids while i do that (class is at 7pm). tuesdays and thursdays i'll do my short runs when my babysitter comes. i'll feed the baby and hope that he'll snooze so the sitter can play with thomas. the short runs are usually about 45 min to an hour (i'll have to work my way back up to that again). saturdays will be my long runs (for now, long will be 3 miles, lol) - friday and sunday are rest days. i think i need to write this all down so i stick to it!

happy and healthy eating everyone!!

Nancy, I'm totally inspired by your plan. I think I should develop a similar one to keep myself accountable. And 5 bucks for a class is an awesome price!

AFM, I'm having trouble getting myself into the right "head space" to make a dramatic change in my eating habits. Sigh.

jasmine -

i wrote my plan all down. i also wrote out the dates for the next 20 fridays (my weigh in days) until my trip to disney world. next to each one i wrote down a goal weight for the week. today i weighed in at 162.5. my goal for friday is 161.0. next friday it's 160.0. basically i'm shooting for a 1 lb weight loss per week.

as far as waiting to get in the right mindset, i totally get it. when my first guy was born, i was thrown for a total loop. i don't think i got to a normal feeling for months. it changes everything. so don't feel bad if you're not there yet on the weight loss thing. i feel more together this time and i just KNOW it's because matthew is my second and i've learned some things and know how to deal. but after thomas was born i was a freaking mess! i had 14 weeks of constant pain trying to breastfeed so that was pretty much all i could think about. this time it's been a breeze so it frees up alot of time (which means i have time that i should be working out!)

i love that siggie pic of yours. so sweet Smile

I would live to lose weight and eve started atkins today, but then i read a ton of stuff about how losing weight and not eating enough calories can make your bm dry up, so now Im just eating healthy until Im done bf Trystan. There's no way I can afford formula, so Im stuck!!

Would love to join in with you girls! I need to loose a good 15lbs to get to my pre-preg weight. I wonder if they have started a new biggest loser challenge on the weightloss/healthy living board, if not does anyone want to make a team?

krystal - if you drastic reduce your calories then yes, i think the supply will go down. but for me, i need to reduce my calories since i've been eating like a zillion calories a day! welcome aboard!

nicole - welcome! i'm jealous that you only have 15 lbs to lose! i'd interested in starting a team!

****
how's everyone doing? i ate well and journaled my food yesterday and went for an hour long walk. i got on the scale expecting a 10 lb weight loss (lol) but remained the same. i know it's slow and steady wins the race but it would have been nice to see a 0.5 lb loss or something! i had a headache all day from the lack of sugar and crap. that's sad!

had my oatmeal this morning and DH and i took the kiddos to the NY botanical garden to see the train show. had a nice salad for lunch there (waldorf turkey that had a little mayo, lettuce, walnuts, apples, grapes, jicama and skipped the dressing) that was delicious.

tonight it's chicken breast breaded with panko crumbs, sweet potato, and green beans. hot chocolate for dessert.

maybe tomorrow i'll lose 10 lbs? Wink

I hold myself to ONLY getting on the scale once a week or I'll drive myself batty frustrated about the daily fluctuations.

Today I was only so-so. I had a multi grain bagel with light cream cheese which isn't high on my OK list but I had to get a dog to the vet and needed to eat something on the way (tomorrow I have to get another dog to the vet and Rory to the ped so I really need to make my oatmeal tonight....) got home and had a bowl of granola and a small piece of ice cream cake (ugh that needs to get out of my freezer) and then for dinner I had a chicken burrito with rice, pico and a little shredded cheese. I totally left off the sour cream and cheese sauce LOL

Getting in exercise tomorrow should be easy b/c Evan will be in daycare

I'll join a team Smile

I fought the urge to stop at Dunkin for a bagel and coffee on my way to the vet LOL And had oatmeal like a good dieter. Rory actually took (and is still taking!!) a nap in the swing so I got to use the treadmill w/o him in the ergo! I did 30 minutes and ran (at a 10 minute mile pace) about 7 minutes. It was painful LOL Now to stretch and do some of the housework that needs to get done!

oatmeal and a banana for breakfast and a salad from subway (hold the cheese, hold the dressing) from the food court at the mall today. i am VERY proud of myself for not having mcdonalds or mall chinese which is what i really wanted. and i logged it all on myfitnesspal.com (it's a great way to journal!)

i'm off to find the BL team thread!

I really want to do this but I'm having such a hard time getting motivated. I got a Victoria's Secret catalogue the other day and looking at those models made me want to throw up. I threw it away. Maybe I should go dig it out of the trash and post the pics on my bathroom mirror....

On my best day that kind of catalog could make me feel badly -- leave it in the trash LOL

Poached chicken, baked sweet potatoes and sugar snap peas for dinner. It was good and nice and healthy. I will be honest though I'll probably finish the ice cream cake tonight LOL

i've been having a mug of sugar free hot chocolate at night rather than shoving food down my throat. it's a treat and it fills me up. i would totally prefer birthday cake though!!

jenni - throw those catalogs out! ick!! even when i was "skinny" i was too fat for that stuff! they don't even make my size bras! jerks!

Yum Ice Cream cake! I haven't had a piece of that since back in school.

AFM - Eating has been shocking as well as the exercise side of things. Next week is a new week and the beginning of a new me! We are still away on holiday and head back home on Sunday. It has been good to get away but i'm beginning to miss home and routine.

Yay for DH working from home today and taking a Rory break while I got a 1/2 hour on the treadmill. I tried leaving Rory in the swing but 5 minutes in he was having NONE of it. Sigh. I can wear him and walk but I really wanted to alternate jogging (slowly and painfully lol) and walking. So a second day of working out in Smile

Sorry Nancy Sad But give it time maybe you're retaining some of the water?

Yesterday I didn't work out b/c I took the boy's nap time to clean my house - it was necessary. I did eat really well though including a salad with grilled chicken for dinner and no snacking afterwards. Weighed myself today and I was down 2 lbs and 7 overall 5 weeks PP. 25 to go. I will walk on the treadmill today - will probably have to wear Rory so no running. Maybe I'll add some incline and try to work my bum! It seems all my pregnancy weight is in my stomach, hips and butt! It's not pretty.

Well girls, I'm on my pp af #2. Blah. I feel bloated and gross (and still afraid to use a tampon!). I have been craving salty and sweet at the same time...think chocolate candy and popcorn together! I'm am going to get myself together and start doing better! I think that making one lifestyle change per week would be ideal for me. So this coming week the change I'm going to do is drink 40 ounces of water a day. I know that isn't the recommended amount but it is a big improvement from my water intake now which is ZERO ounces a day! I've been relying on caffinated sodas to stay awake.
