Baby name?

What do you all think of the name Django for our little boy? Does it seem rakish and masculine or too silly? It is a Romany (gypsy) phrase meaning "I awake."

SO and I are having a heck of a time agreeing on names... and this is the only unusual name he has suggested!

He has a really unusual Eastern European last name...begins with L and has three syllables and a lot of hard consonants.

A friend named her dog Django Smile I think the biggest hurdle will be that the kid will always have to tell someone how to pronounce it. First day of school etc the teachers will always have to ask but that's not a huge deal if you both love the name!

Very unique name! I agree with having to explain how to pronounce it. I pronounced it wrong when I first read it. I love the meaning. Go with what you feel!

I have a friend whose name is Djarango, people sometimes called him Django. I have known him for a long time, so it doesn't seem so out there to me.

It's definitely unique... my only suggestion would be to maybe spell it differently... because you know that EVERYONE would pronounce the "D" just like it sounds and screw it up, and that would suck for a kid... and an adult!

It reminds me of "Sukiyaki Western Django", a Japanese Western movie from 2007. And in December, you can take him to see Quentin Tarantino's new movie "Django Unchained"!

(Can you tell I own a movie theater?) Smile

Love the name choice, by the way. We just finished playing the kids movie "Rango" and I thought that THAT would be a cute baby boy name. I think Django is an "adult" version of Rango. It sounds more sophisticated while being cute enough for a baby at the same time.

Moxie and I are doing good! I have "the big ultrasound" tomorrow morning -- exciting stuff! This whole pregnancy is so different than with my DS, it almost worries me! I clearly remember that, by 20 weeks, I was feeling loads of hard kicking and obvious movement. Even the ultrasound tech could feel it at 20 weeks while she was working the wand on my belly. This pregnancy, it's very rare to feel movement so far and when I do, it's faint. Like, the lightest tap, one time. I'm not sure if boys are just "stronger" than girls or what -- but it's freaking me out!

So it will be great reassurance tomorrow, especially after having heavy bleeding and things like that.
